Great window mural!

Heavily underrated. I challenge anybody to find better kosher, Israeli food in ATL. Laffa with schnitzel was absolutely spot on. Great topping selection, and the sandwich held up despite wet toppings. I still dream about it. My friend went with shawarma and has been going back regularly for it for some time now. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of this establishment and he really seems to love what he does. Various items on the menu are named for his children and I thought that was really sweet. The outside seating area is very cute with string lights and a neon. Ordering at a kiosk is streamlined and easy rather than shouting toppings over the case. I love this place more than words can express. It's so very important to support our neighbors facing difficulty abroad and at home - no matter their background. 5/5 will be back regularly

For $8, you are guaranteed to fill up your stomach with fresh, kosher, quality Israeli food. Fattest pitas I've ever seen. The kabob was $7.95, but you can opt for the falafel which is less, or the other stuff which I think the highest was $8.95. Finding Pita Palace tonight was like hitting the jackpot. I've been in DC and NYC, but haven't experienced a middle eastern salad bar before. This one was so worth it. I went there right around 6pm on a normal weekday and by 6:30pm it was crowded--people sounded like regulars too. These ladies grabbed a bag of pitas off the wall--apparently Pita Palace sells their pitas in batches of 5 or 6! I'm enamored by the salad bar, because it really is quality food--and that's rare among salad bars/buffet style layouts. They have grilled eggplant (which they've grilled VERY nicely), their own house baba ganouj, home-made hummus, and pickled veggies (including cauliflower), among other selections. They had these awesome carrots tonight, seasoned in a special way. If you have a palate for mediterranean food, this is your place. The kabob (beef) was also fresh and grilled very well. I could have easily split it into two meals. But I was a fatty tonight and ate the whole thing. Gulp. If you have a choice between spending ~$8 (or more) at Whole Foods and pinching salad and small bits of meat to keep the price low, and all-you-can-eat salad bar here which has everything you'd need to be nourished plus a hefty meat pita, Pita Palace seems like a solid deal.

Kefta Kebab Laffa $14.75

We got there around 6:53 PM on a Thursday, and there was only one person working. While we waited, a second worker did come in. I didn't note the time we ordered, but we finally got our order at 7:51 PM. It's counter service, so this is pretty slow. However, they were obviously short staffed that night, and were very apologetic about the wait. Yelp has a check in deal for 1 free beer with purchase of laffa, but when I tried to use it they said they don't even serve alcohol. No biggie since it's not like we're entitled to it, I've just never come across such a discrepancy when it comes to check in deals. The setup was a little confusing to me, since there's a "salad" bar that they use to put veggie fillings and sauces into the sandwiches, but I guess it's also self serve if you want to take anything in a little soup to go container that was near the cash register. I'm not sure if that's included with every purchase, but after a while I figured I waited long enough to deserve some hummus and tahini to go. I had asked for extra sauce on the side, and I'm not sure if I wasn't heard, or just ignored because it was supposed to be self serve anyways? I don't know. Anyways, I took some. And I didn't get yelled at, so it must've been OK. Pargiyot Laffa $13.75: This is chicken. Chicken is not usually my preferred meat, but I wanted to try this as it seemed to be a specialty of theirs. It was OK, but I definitely preferred the kefta kebab. The way I would describe laffa is a big tortilla like thing but the texture of pita bread instead. Kefta Kebab Laffa $14.75: I've had kefta kebab at other places, and this one seemed a little less juicy. We did take it to go, and it took some time for our whole order to be ready, so maybe it dried up a little since we didn't eat it right away? The sandwiches were definitely filling, but for me I think it was just missing really awesome sauce. There wasn't a lot of tahini in the squeeze bottles so I wasn't able to get as much as I wanted. Their spicy sauce was really spicy, so only a tiny bit is needed for heat. I would've liked something more like a chili paste to add more flavor without being too hot. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! Will definitely return if I haven't already. 5 Stars - AMAZING!!! Would plan my day or even a trip around eating here.

Saw a great review of this place a few years back so I've been wanting to try it. I used UberEats. I got two half pitas so I could try two different things and since I love leftovers it was a good idea. Shish Kebab and Pargiyot. I also ordered rice and the humus platter. They need some help in the packaging department. Everything had the appearance of just being thrown together. I bit into my first pita and felt like I was eating stones the meat was so dry. I opened it up to pick at it but eventually threw it out. My second was a little better. The hummus tasted watered down and the pita bread was too chewy. Maybe it was supposed to be that way but it wasn't tasty so I threw it out too. It was a bad experience overall

Pita Palace is a kosher Middle Eastern restaurant located in the Briar Vista shopping center not far from Emory, across the street from Whole Foods Briarcliff. It's a hole in the wall. I'm not going to go as far as calling it a "shack," but it almost feels like one. This is more of a quick lunch or take-out place than it is a restaurant to sit down and enjoy a meal. I like it because it's akin to Israeli street food. The kitchen prepares many of its ingredients daily, including their own taboon bread. The restaurant is on the La Vista side of the shopping center, facing Whole Foods. It's in a small corner spot. They've crammed a lot of tables into the limited space and there's some covered seating outside. During peak periods, parking can get tight so you may have to park around the corner and walk over. Pita Palace has chicken shawarmas (freshly shaved off the spit), falafel (made of ground chickpeas), schnitzel (breaded chicken), pargiot (dark meat cornish hen), white meat grilled chicken, seasoned beef kabobs, hamburgers, and veggie pitas. You can order the falafel and meats in various forms, e.g. inside a pita pocket or wrapped in laffa (taboon bread). The laffa wraps are quite big, significantly bigger than the pita pockets. They are comparable in size to a Mission-style burrito (such as Moe's or Chipotle). It's a lot of meat/food. Pitas run about $7-10 each, laffas run about $8-13 each. If you don't want a pita or laffa, you can have the meat served on a baguette, in a salad, on as an entree (double meat, for roughly $15) with salad bar items. I recommend ordering the laffa because taboon bread can be hard to find in Atlanta, especially freshly-made taboon bread. Taboon is made out of chickpea flour and is traditionally used as a flatbread wrap in Jewish cuisine. It's soft and slightly spongy. There's a self-serve salad bar that is used by both customers and staff. The salad bar has hummus (chickpea spread), baba ghanoush (eggplant spread), spicy sauces (jalapeno, habanero), Israeli salad (tomatoes and cucumbers), pickles, red cabbage, coleslaw, pita chips, fried eggplant, sauerkraut, and other items. The salad bar is included with most orders. If you order a sandwich/wrap, the staff will use ingredients from the salad bar, Subway-style, to customize your order. I like to load my laffa wraps with lots of stuff: hummus, baba ghanoush, Israeli salad, red cabbage, pickles, and slaw. They also have sauces in squeeze bottles, such as tzatziki yogurt sauce. It is good stuff. Don't put too many sauces/spreads inside or your meal will get messy towards the end. The meats I suggest ordering are the shawarma, pargiot, and beef kabobs. You can see the chicken shawarma rotating on a spit behind the counter. I think this is their most popular meat and it's not uncommon to see it completely gone by the end of the day. The shawarma and the pargiot, both marinated chicken, taste somewhat similar. However, the shawarma chicken meat is sliced thin while the pargiot chicken meat is chopped into small chunks. Either way, you can't go wrong. The beef kabobs are delicious. The beef patties are nicely seasoned with onions and spices and are flavorful and satisfying. I think the meat portions are generous. Overall, I have found the ingredients to be sufficiently fresh and the wraps to be tasty and filling. Service is good. Bottled water and soft drinks are available in a fridge. If you want tap water, you have to get it yourself from a bathroom-looking sink that is oddly placed in the short hallway leading to the lone restroom. Funny enough, it's not the first time I've seen something like that.

I was disappointed that I did not get as much meat as I remembered getting the last time I was here, which was more than 1 year ago. The cashier was very friendly, and helped me choose what I wanted based on my preferences. She recommended that I go for the schwarma plate without the pita bread to get more meat. When I got home, I found out that I got a schwarma sandwich, adding to my disappointment. I got a choice of babaganouj or hummus and I opted for my favorite, the hummus. They also can make it as spicy as you want so I chose medium spicy. The salad bar is very good. I love the eggplant but it is very oily. One bite and the eggplant wrings out a lot of oil. I like the peppercini's as well. The salad bar has a lot of options.

I didn't imagine it would be such a struggle to find proper deli rye bread in the Atlanta area, but…read moreit was. I live in Grant Park and checked quite a few markets, no deli rye. So, I headed to the large Toco Hills Shopping Center, which is at the center of the local Jewish community and checked out both the Publix and Kroger, which have large kosher sections. I found no rye bread at all. Goldberg's Deli had rye bread loaves available, but they were frozen. I thought that was questionable. Luckily, I drove by the tiny Kosher Gourmet market. They happened to be cutting a loaf when I arrived. They also had halvah and Ba-Tampte Mustard, primo deli mustard, which I found nowhere else. I will most definitely return.

When I called to place the order it was made very clear to me that I could have whatever I wanted, just say the word. So we got two meat and roasted vegetable pinwheel sandwich trays, a tray of fruit and another of cookies. Also large bowls of cole slaw, potato salad and Israeli salad. I called back a few minutes later and asked for a small carton of egg salad since I am gluten free. The gentleman called me back and said, "You think we'll let everyone else eat, but not you? I'll make gluten free pinwheels for you!" Awesome!! We picked up the food on Friday and took it to Thomas Jefferson Academy where we were dedicating a science lab to our grandmother and our parents. Today I asked my great nephew if he approved of the leftovers. "Well, they're all gone, so I guess so!" Thank you Kosher Gourmet for making our family event a stunning success!

We were in Atlanta visiting family, who keep kosher, and scheduled a birthday dinner at Fuego…read moreMundo. I've only been in kosher restaurants a few times - and they were delis. However, I kept kosher when I raised my children, so I'm no stranger to observance. We started off with an order of the Fuego Animal Fries for the table. French fries topped with brisket, red onions, green chiles and queso sauce. The appetizer was excellent! See the attached picture, which tells a thousand words! The brisket was lean and tender, and braised perfectly. The red onions were sautéed and added such depth with the cheese and chiles! Next up, the Fried Cauliflower; crisp florets with a horseradish-roasted garlic aioli. The cauliflower was fried with a crispy, flavorful breading, and was tender inside. The horseradish sauce was very good and I dipped every bite. The last appetizer, the Southwest Rolls, fell short of expectations - most people didn't finish theirs. It's not that it had a 'bad taste', but the texture inside was really strange. It tasted sandy, or powdery to me - not what you would expect from a roll stuffed with brisket, black beans, corn and peppers. Maybe the beans were the reason; whatever, the recipe needs serious adjustment. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries for my main course. I was trying to decide between the brisket sandwich or the fried chicken sandwich-after the brisket and fries appetizer, I almost went with the brisket, but decided last minute to go with the 'Schnitzel Sandwich', as it's called. We all know what the term 'schnitzel' means when it comes to meats - pounding it down to about a 1/4 inch thick, breading and frying. In this dish, the chicken is pounded and fried - I was surprised to see, not one schnitzel, but two in my sandwich - see attached picture. It was a tasty chicken sandwich - it was tender - but, since it's so thin, it wasn't juicy - but, wasn't dry either. I prefer a large piece of meat when having fried chicken, but it was fine. Overall, I enjoyed the lunch at Fuego. If I return, I'm definitely trying the brisket sandwich!

As a person who is dairy-free, I was excited to go to Fuego. The service and how the restaurant…read moreoperated disappointed me. I almost walked out before service began. On our way , we called twice to ask a question about gluten-free menu options. Both times the phone rang until the call disconnected. We walked in at 6:42. We stood by the "wait to be seated" sign. They have no host, and we were a foot away from a table dining. After we got there, a party arrived and were seated after talking to a manager/whoever ran the expo. I understand they probably called ahead or set it up, but at some point, guests need to be noticed - not just the ones who know the staff. Around 6:53 someone finally acknowledged us, but they just asked how many there were (2) and walked away. At 6:57 we sat after getting the attention of a different person, but not until after a table for two that hadn't been cleared but was empty since before we arrived was slowly cleaned. Once we were seated, we were not greeted until 7:05 - 8 minutes after sitting down. We had questions about allergies and the server seemed unsure of the menu. I found out that for the wings, you can't split sauces. Our server told us we could get a side of a second sauce. This was his idea, and we were surprised to be charged for it. No mention of an upcharge. Also - this sauce did not arrive until later. At 7:13, we placed our order. No alcohol or drinks were ordered. We had noted that we wanted to start with the wings as an appetizer. The wings arrived at the table at 7:22. The spicy sauce (that we were charged for) was not with the food. The wings were fine. The ranch was great. Entrees hit the table at 7:26. We'd hardly had a moment to eat the wings before everything was on the table. The burger and sandwich were fine. For the Fuego burger being $33 dollars, we expected a larger portion size or something more special about it, but it was just a burger. The BBQ Brisket Sandwich was also fine, but didn't feel worth $26 dollars. Both of our meals were good, but not good enough to justify the prices or lack of service. Throughout the dinner, we noticed our server took better care of other tables. I don't know if it's because we didn't buy alcohol (again, overpriced) or were only 2 people, but we felt like a second thought the entire time. For a place at this price point, we expected better. There are no sections for the servers in the building, so they have tables all over the restaurant, making it easier to forget a table. I think this is a symptom of how the restaurant is run. Our server didn't check on us until 7:34 which was when we got much needed water refills and the extra sauce that hadn't come. At 7:44 we finished eating. At 7:47 our server checked in and we asked for a box. At 7:48 he dropped the check and a box and said he would be right back to pick it up; he just had to clear a table for new guests. Our table wasn't cleared of the empty dishes. After waiting 11 minutes with the check and dirty table, a different staff member picked up the card at 7:59. She came back a minute later and we had to sign the check on a tablet she held. It asked if we wanted to leave a tip, but there was already a 20% service charge on the receipt. It's on the menu and website, but it feels scammy to not disclose this to guests upon payment and to have a "would you like to leave a tip" while an employee is holding the screen. Our meal, 10 wings (the upcharge sauce), the fuego burger, and the brisket sandwich, cost us $102 all said and done. I hope this was a fluke, but we will not be returning. At this price point, guests should be able to feel like they are being taken care of. Throughout the movement at dinner service, guest left and their tables weren't bussed or cleaned, and if they were, trash was left. We saw a lot of people around the restaurant receive better service and more attention. I work in fine dining myself and have a lot of empathy for being busy or understaffed, but I've never had a dining experience that truly made me feel like I was being taken advantage of.

!!!!What a horrible and disgusting service. Horrible customer service and they give your food away…read moreto other clients!!! I placed two orders over a week ago. I get an email late last week saying that my order is going to be ready for pick up on a date but fails to provide the date. I called yesterday at 11:52 am to confirm when I can pick up. The lady on the phone said my order was in fact ready for today but because of very bizarre business hours (7-2) I asked if I can pick up on Wednesday morning instead. She said yes no problem. Today I get a phone call (1:20pm) and I called back a few minutes later (1:23pm) as I was in between patients. The lady on the phone, KAYLA, told me that my order was incomplete and had out of stock items. I whispered back, as I was in the clinic, saying I'm confused why my order was complete yesterday but not today. I followed up by saying as a customer it is concerning to me that it seems like my food is being given to other priority clients. KAYLA responded "I do not know" and I said well that's not reassuring to hear as a client. Typically, if a client is skeptical of this grave practice, they would be reassured that the ethics and values of this company does not practice this. However, it was not denied. KAYLA seemed frazzled and said I just got your paper and I said I can't be on the phone anymore please email me with update. I asked if I can still show up tomorrow for pickup and she said yes. I specifically said thank you and have a good day. Six minutes later I get a missed call with a disgustingly toned voicemail (attached below) saying "... let me just say this I do not appreciate you being rude or insulting Any one of my stuff that will not work with us...". I also receive an email regarding the out of stock items. I respond to the email as I was in clinic saying the situation and how I simply had a question and concern that my items were being given to other priority clients. I explained how I was not being rude or never ever insulted someone. I couldn't even raise my voice as I was whispering. I never even complained about the actual items being out of stock. I am appalled that I even received such voicemail. Then, instead of apologizing or offering any type of customer support, PETER was implying that he was able to hear my conversation. Which great!! Because I truly am confused since I was not rude nor insulting anyone. Additionally, how is peter able to hear my conversation if I was whispering? He also apologizes "if that is the case" that someone said my order was ready for pickup today. Why if that is the case? Why are you questioning the client??? Regardless, the concerning part is that he doesn't even apologize to me for leaving such email AND DOESNT EVEN DENY OR ADDRESS MY CONCERN OF THEM GIVING AWAY MY FOOD TO OTHER CLIENTS!! I am still waiting for an apology and for a clarification on this. But I guess no answer is an answers and confirmation that they do. I then respond to their email confirming the substitution and that I will be there tomorrow morning as planned and as per the confirmation via phone today. Then I get a response saying not to come pickup tomorrow until confirmed??? They're truly a mess and don't know what they're saying on the phone and what they're emailing either. Side note, their website advertises that they deliver to my zip code. When asked over the phone and in person, they say no?? They have disgusting customer service and to be honest it's sooooo sketchy and weird place. It's a warehouse you have to go pick up at in the middle of no where. No thank you!! Taking my business elsewhere!! Peter- per your email, if you really appreciated my business is this how you respond or treat a customer? Especially a new one?? Attached below are the proof of the emails and voicemails. Shame that a Jewish facility practices this way.

There was a sign right at the door that says something like, just walk right in. I would say this place is a fast casual restaurant. Not a lot of diners when we came on Friday night but had tons of take out orders. As we were seated, water and menu were dropped off at our table. I didn't get a chance to look at the full menu but felt rushed to order. Luckily, I had already looked at the menu before arriving. I ordered the spritz with a fruity twist (forgot what it was called but if you like aperol spritz, then this is for you) and my husband, a Paloma. We ordered a trio dip with charred baba ganoush, feta, and cauliflower that was served with some fresh pita bread. This was a great start to our meal and wanted more. I ordered the eggplant bowl with both lettuce and rice. Yall, the fries that were served must have been fried twice because it was crispy and saucy. Would definitely get this again, plus it was super filling. My husband ordered the falafel bowl with lettuce, and he did enjoy this as well. My only gripe is that the "bowl" is more of a platter? Food was certainly delicious and drinks were good. I like going to a restaurant that anticipates your needs, but this didn't do it for me. Our water was empty for awhile and we didn't get offered any until we were heading out. But nevertheless, this is a great spot for yummy food on the beltline.
