Cute cafe. Matcha was good. Vegan options available and good. Vegan fiesta pictured.

Definitely a solid spot for grilled cheese if you're nearby. I got the cheesy and thought it was tasty but wish the cheese was a little more melted. I did get a ginger mint tea and it paired really nice on a cold afternoon.

Very good coffee ( love how cute this sized cup was )

Best service. We were in a rush and the server was so kind and accommodating. Gave us our coffees in to go cups and guided us what to order that would take the least amount of time possible. Coffee was great. Food was ok ( croissant with ham and cheese) Prices were reasonable. Nothing amazing but appreciated our experience overall and would recommend if looking for a quick meal in the neighborhood.

Toastable is a hidden gem loved by the locals of Amsterdam. They have a wide variety of delicious triple-layered grilled cheese sandwiches. I ordered the "Say Cheese" grilled cheese with Mozzarella, Gouda, and Cheddar cheese with mustard. As most people know, I love cheese, making this the perfect sandwich for me. Toastable also serves an amazing breakfast, so no matter what time of the day, make sure to stop by. Order: Say Cheese Grilled Cheese

    The Legend with Jalapeños

The Legend was the best Grilled Cheese Sandwich I've had in Amsterdam! My friend and I stopped by to grab a sandwich to go. We had to get the The Legend (original recipe since 2012) with Jalapeños! The wait was kind of long but the sandwich came out fresh, piping hot with cheese oozing out and melting all over. The first bite was sooo good. It was worth the wait!

Great location across from the "flower" market, its a super cool breakfast joint serving a menu based on, drum roll please, yes you guessed it, toast! Nicely done combinations of vegetarian and meat options on fresh sliced bread, some with actual Dutch cheese melted on. Its not that the food is so amazing, but the sum totality of the experience makes this place work. Have breakfast here, then proceed to the open air market across the canal and buy some sex toys, weed paraphernalia, weed seeds or tulip bulbs to smuggle back through our border "sieve" if you dare. (I'm speaking to you residents of the US who are intrepid enough to actually visit this EU version of adult Disneyland)

    Me devouring the Fajita tosti!!!

This place is such a hidden gem in the heart of Amsterdam! We got the fajita and the legend and they were phenomenal! The perfect lunch spot and relatively affordable. As you can see from the photo of me devouring the Fajita, cheese just oozes out of the sandwich, it's amazing! I would prepare for a bit of a wait because collectively there are maybe 8 tables in the restaurant as it's a very small space! That said, totally worth the wait if you like cheesy delicious toasted sandwiches!

SUPER CUTE spot that we stumbled upon. It's located in one of those stairs leading down from the sidewalk - so it's easily missed. It has outdoor and indoor seating but indoor seating is much more ample & it's quite cozy as well. We seated & the menus were on the table. They were out of croissants that day so that's unfortunate. I ordered a Latte which came with a cookie & honey. They didn't have brown sugar BTW. Only had white sugar on the table. The latte was quite good & came in a glass instead of a cup, like I'm used to. I ordered the Double Cheese - at the top of their menu it states " Our World Famous Toasted Sandwiches" so of course, I had to give it a try. It's aged Gouda cheese with mustard on your choice of white or wheat bread. I decided on wheat bread. HOLY MOLY - it was super cheesy & it was 3 breads between two layers of cheese - if you're a CHEESE-A-HOLIC like me - then it is HEAVEN! It came with a sauce which is similar to ranch with a hint of horse radish. You pay up front - FYI. It was a great breakfast find as they are open quite early - 8AM. I'd totally recommend.

Vitello tonnato toasti (special April): this is only half the tosti! pretty big portions

Toastable is a cute half-underground breakfast and lunch place. I had lunch here a couple of times and really liked it! The distinctive and interesting thing about toastable is their tosti's: they offer different kinds of these dutch "croque-monsieur": three toasts garnished traditionally with ham and cheese. Here, they have much more variety and offer original and tasty ingredients to garnish the tosti's. Last time, I had the special of the month which was a vitello tonnato with parmigiano, tomato, rucola, served with truffle mayonnaise: really nice!! They also have a nice breakfast menu: you can pretty much compose your own breakfast, choosing among different pastries, cheeses, ham, vegetables, etc. I'll need to try that one once! Oh and I really like their homemade ice-teas!! - finally a place that serves non-sparkling ice-tea in this country, what a relief.... (seriously what's up with the sparkling ice-tea, dudes??) The interior is all white and pastel colors, very cute. There are a few tables outside in front of the canal. Service is really nice, too. A very nice place for breakfast/brunch/lunch!

Bang for your buck! Loved the simple and straightforward choices. If those don't do it for you, you can customize your own toastie. Each toastie comes with its own dip - either mayo, ketchup or mustard. I went for the corn bread (yum) but the dark bread option looks great as well. The toastie has three slices of toast so you're sure to fill up. If you get thirsty like I usually do when eating toast, there's lots of ice tea and juice options.

Really great options for savory food - delicious toast as well as overnight oats and really friendly people working there!! Also, try the red juice !! It is extraordinary 5/5

The Gorgonzola- Gorgonzola with pear and walnut on brown bread. Plus Apple balsamic syrup
    Ellen S.

Great selection of tasty sandwiches. Each was a huge hit with the family. We got the Gorgonzola, Meatball and kids ham and cheese. The sandwiches have 3 slices of bread (the kid only 2) so it's very filling. The toast is perfectly fine with that wonderful amount of doneness. Friendly atmosphere and helpful service. My kids spread want the go back for breakfast as you can build your own creation.

I adore this place. If I checked in every single time I came here.. well, you'd wonder if I worked here instead of down the road :/ For a morning coffee, afternoon coffee or late afternoon sugar rush, these guys are great! It's not a strong coffee but it's creamy and delicious and best of all, it's NOT BURNT (ok.. sometimes it's burnt but it's not Starbucks) and you always get a cookie. And sometimes this cookie is homemade. It's basically heaven in a super cute cup that comes with super comfy corrugated holder! Anyway, things that I adore about this place: TOASTIES! Well duh. There is truly nothing more homely and satisfying than a ham and cheese toastie (squished together on 3 SLICES, that's right, 3 SLICES OF BANGING BREAD)! Do try the deluxe meatball toastie (ask for satay sauce instead of the mayo) or the deluxe chicken! Because yum. Oh and the bacon with brie! So good! Service is usually pretty spectacular if you eat in as well. The guys and gals here are super sweet, it's like they enjoy serving people food (unlike most of the Amsterdam cafe culture where like.. they don't). The only terrible thing is, sometimes the wait is looooooooooooooong. I've waited over 30 minutes for a toastie (whilst eating in). My work colleagues and I have cheated, where we call ahead to order a toastie to pick up- they say, cheerfully, that should be ready in about 10 minutes! We rock up 20 minutes later and they are only then slicing and dicing it up to put in a takeaway container but the timing is perfect so everyone wins. But really, that's a tiny issue because everything else about this place is great! Worth the wait. They have free wifi here so you can bum about online for a bit or sip a coffee (with home made cookie). This place is lekker. I'll be back tomorrow. And the day after that too..

So good I stopped by twice on a 3 day trip to the city…read more I stopped by on my first visit craving a big, hearty sandwich for a late lunch and thought this might be a good find. Happy to report I was very right. I grabbed one of the many outside seats, took a look at the menu that was entirely in Dutch and waited for the wonderful waitress to quickly translate nearly every item for me. I landed on the chicken club and it hit the spot. I arrived hungry but could still only manage to finish half. Chicken was grilled perfectly into thin slices, soft boiled egg was a new touch that I loved, avocado, lettuce and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Oh, and a handful of crisps on the side. On my next visit, it was my last night in Amsterdam and I still haven't tried the infamous fries. I stopped in around 9:30 for a late night snack and a hot ginger tea. The fries were the perfect fries! Thin, crispy, salty. I loved. I also can get behind the mayo thing they do here, even though I really am a ketchup loyalist. Anyway, lunch or dinner or late night snack, this is a good spot. You'll like the foot and you'll love sitting outside people watching, reading your book, whatever.
