Came here for a weekend lunch right when they opened at 11am. The specialty here is the blood sausage and the stews. You can order the stews with the blood sausage in it and also on the side. The side dishes were good, especially the kimchi. The soup is somewhat under seasoned as you are supposed to add in your own salt and seasoning to your liking. The service was good and attentive.

We shared: 1. Modeum Soon Dae 모듬순대 - Homemade Korean sausage and boiled pork w/ bossam radish kimchi 2. Dakdori Jeon Gol 닭도리 전골 - Spicy chicken stew with potatoes and vegetables The boiled pork is one of the best I've had in Chicagoland - tender, fatty, and flavorful. Blood sausage was mild and apparently needs the side of salt that came with the platter. I didn't know to use the salt but one of my friends really liked it. The chicken stew was excellent and I highly recommend adding the ramyun. The pickled, red Banchan were bland. No issues with service. Good amount of seating inside for small to large groups.

Drove pass this small Korean restaurant and decided to pay a visit. They have an one-page menu which mainly includes soup dishes. We ordered the #1 item (pork bone soup with sausages and pork). The banchan came up first (kimchi, daikon and pickled radish). The daikon and kimchi had a funny taste so I only had a bite). The soup came up pretty quickly. the broth was very hot, rich but not greasy. The soup had pork meat and intestines in it, but it didn't pair well with the sausages which were made with noodles if I tasted correctly? Overall, not my thing...sorry...

My husband and I came here as a recommendation from our cousins. It feels like a hole in the wall place! Super small with just the right amount of seating. Service was quick and very quick to get you anything you need and constantly checking on you. Moving on to the food, we got #10 which was soup with pork and potatoes and the bossam. We had left overs from the bossam. The blood sausage was delicious, but the pork I felt like was super dry. The soup was just enough for two of us and was delicious, personally thought it could've been spicier but I just love my spice. We got the #9 chicken stew soup to go and I'd definitely get that over the pork one! Can't wait to come back here as the weather gets colder! Also leaving an updated business hours because the hours on Yelp doesn't match.

Pork backbone potato soup with rice cake

We had the pork backbone potato soup for 2 with rice cake. Very filling and a decent amount. Great for cold weather soup craving days, a bit salty but overall great! Speedy service.

One of my favorite Korean go to place. This place is perfect for the days you want Korean soup to warm your heart. I really love the Dakdori tang from here. There is parking in the back. Turn into the alley between the store and nail salon.

Side dishes are good. I liked Guk bop the most of out what I had, I wished the spicy chicken one-dal do ri tang was better, broth was but not much in it-but gam ja tang was decent, sun dae was fine, meat was very very tender good. I would definitely return.

The food is delicious! We loved both soups. Very flavorful. The pork ribs were so tender. The service was great!

Authentic Korean soups - Gam cha tang is my wife's favorite. They specialize in soups so don't expect to find other types of dishes on the menu. I will be coming back especially during the cold winter.

What ails me is a hunger for goat stew, so I'm frequently cured. Quite fantastic, loaded with super fresh leaves that cook down into the wok in 10 minutes and if you are in the know, put off the rice until the very end when, if you eat nearly almost all of it, leaving a scrimp of meat and leaf and a few tablespoons of broth, ask for the kimchi rice, which the staff will prepare at your table with the namesake and an egg. You will feel healthy. If goat is not your thing, the seafood pancakes with green onions are a treat, the chap chae is yum-yum time, and the dol sot bib bim bop is a deep satisfier. I love the skinny little pike makerels (Kkong Chi Gui), especially for lunch. The service is excellent though causal, no pressure. It is often busy with every table eating one of the stews. And, if you are lucky, go in the early afternoon, the place is yours with Chilly Willy and Tom And Jerry cartoons. Tops on my list for overall comfort, taste, cozy, causal dining. Banchan a plenty.

For the entrees we had pork cutlet with gravy and rice, steam chicken gizzards, pork belly nappa cabbage wrap and kimchi fried rice. Every single dish came out quick, hot and fresh. Everything we ordered is very savory and delicous. I would say the best korean food in Chicago. It was my first time eating steam chicken gizzards and oh my oh it was seasoned well;soo delicous and one of a kind. I was a little hesitant when my boyfriend wanted me to tatse it. Best decision ever to go out of my tastings bubble. We came on the weekend,we expected groups of people but it was actually quiet for a bar restaurant. We enjoyed our visit here. The food was too yummy we forgot to take photos untill the end. We will definitely come back next time we are around ;)

While it's not exactly cheap, this is still very fairly priced (without tips required) with a lot of different food offered (including a full assortment of banchan). Outside of a bit more banchan choices, more comfortable seating, some more dish choices, and nicer decor there's surprisingly little that you're really missing by dining at this location. The food here is of the same high quality that you expect at any other SGD location. For me, the main entrees are large enough as well that you can share one between two people, making this actually a fairly economical option for dining in Hmart. The flavors and textures are on point, and the cooking speed is pretty good. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're an SGD fan or looking to get a fuller set of dining options while shopping in this area. While the Korean BBQ and Bento boxes will stand out to most people right away, do give their tofu stew a try if you haven't before.
