My dear friend Judy invited me here for a late lunch... I had mentioned to her time and time again how much I really wanted to try this place out and... FINALLY. This joint fully met all my expectations... FULLY. Such a cute little spot with amazing food. The menu isn't crazy extensive but everything I had was super yummy. And the service just as good. He's a kind Korean man... obvious he has a sweet spirit. We ordered the jjolmyun, dukbokkee, soondae and kimbob. So, so, so yummy. I believe their main source of income is from their catering though cuz the cafe is only open 11:00-3:00 Tuesday through Saturday. But their catering must be pretty fabulous cuz apparently they deliver to a church in Munster IN. I mean, whaaat?! So. Come here. Eat something. And order something to go for a party. Or just come here and eat something. =] Just FYI... they do have a lot but it's kinda tiny.

I can't believe how much food I got for what I paid for! ALL this for just $13. If you don't like soondae (blood sausage), then just ask for extra kimbop at no extra charge. Above all, it was delicious and I recommend supporting this local business!

Great food, great taste, and great people. Quick side dishes available for purchase. $10 credit card minimum No complaints. Definitely recommend this place to try.

    Menu

The interior is Korean"covered wagon ()" style. The menu is pretty diverse (see pictures). The seafood soft tofu stew ( ) is delicious with a good portion, but priced higher than other Korean restaurants in the area like San Soo Gab San and Joong Boo Market Food Court. Good side dishes (). Korean Spoon only serves lunch Tuesday through Friday. Closed on Monday.

Glad to finally have a dedicated Korean catering and specialty banchan place in the burbs. Went to the soft opening on 9/5/15 and the food was fresh and delicious. Its not easy to locate but its worth it. Making this our goto spot for banchan shopping.

Kim, ttok, Soon. Yummy. I want it again!

One of the best things? Their rice comes cooking in the stone pots as well as the stews, which makes it perfectly cooked with just the right chew. The tea comes in thermos jugs that keep tea hot. Side dishes are always refilled at request. We felt very well fed dining here. Entire place very clean. No wonder family travels for more than half hour to get here when there are other places closer...food and service are just outstanding.

The atmosphere is straightforward and unpretentious, the kind of spot where you can settle in and know exactly what you are getting: a warm, filling bowl of stew and plenty of sides to round things out. The star of the menu is the soondubu jjigae, a bubbling hot soft tofu stew that arrives in a stone bowl and can be customized with different proteins and spice levels. I ordered it with a moderate spice level, and the stew came out rich, flavorful, and packed with silky tofu that practically melted in each spoonful. The stone bowl kept everything boiling hot throughout the meal, and cracking the egg directly into the stew while it was still bubbling added a creamy richness that tied the whole dish together. Each order comes with a bowl of rice, which balances the spice and makes the meal feel complete. The kimchi stew and bibimbap are also popular choices, and the seafood pancake is a great addition for sharing if you want to build out the table a bit more. One of the highlights of dining here is the variety of banchan that accompanies the meal. The side dishes add plenty of flavor and texture, with the kimchi, pickled radish, and bean sprouts providing a nice contrast to the rich, spicy stew. The combination of hot soup, rice, and banchan makes for a satisfying and complete meal, and the banchan are refilled without asking, which is a small detail that makes a big difference. Service is consistently friendly and efficient, even during busy periods, and the staff are happy to help guide newcomers through the menu, offering recommendations on spice levels and protein choices. SGD Dubu is a dependable destination for Korean comfort food, especially if you are craving a steaming bowl of tofu stew. Between the flavorful soondubu, generous portions, and plentiful banchan, it is the kind of place that leaves you full, warm, and already thinking about your next visit. It delivers exactly what you hope for from a neighborhood Korean spot: consistent quality, comforting flavors, and a meal that feels both hearty and complete.

The redecorating and ambience was modern and sleek, with fully operational and clean water features. Grills were gas-operated, one grills there own meat items here. I really liked the natural-stone mini-subway style tiles on the walls. Like a lot of Korean places I have seen, the seats had minimal padding. I think this would be a great place for a date if you're in the area, a prize in an unassuming strip mall anchored by an auto parts store. Food was great, they happily and generously provided more banchan and also gave us complimentary bowls of soy paste soup that was practically jumping out of the bowl. As civilised as I tried to be, using my chopsticks and the cooking tongs correctly, I still felt like I completely stuffed my face like at a trough '^_^ it was all so good. Maybe to accommodate the neighborhood, the banchan was not nearly as spicy as we expected, so that might be great for someone trying Korean for the first time. Some might balk at the prices of some items, such as $24.99 for 1/2lb of raw meat, but we had a very enjoyable time and hope to come again.

However, the price was a bit much for this I'd say. Beef tartar: 3 of 5 As there was nothing to special to it. Wouldn't get it a second time. I'd say the trip was disappointing for our party of 5 and what we got didn't match the quality of other gopchang restaurants in LA. For me who did not eat intestines I'd say it's a 3 of 5 place, but I'd say the value for the intestines based on what my party ate was more of a 2 of 5 as it was mostly grease that overwhelmed everything with no meaningful way to reduce it. Service was a good 4 of 5, but not as attentive at times.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. The meat was really tender and juicy, but there were a couple of pieces with bone-in which I didn't really care for. I thought the side-dishes were really good. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day. Unexpectedly, for dessert, the server brought out a Haagan Daas ice-cream bar lol. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if it was just because I'm handsome? (found out later they do this for everyone... lol). I didn't really have room b/c I was full from the main dish and sides but ate it anyways (why not?). Overall I had a delicious meal. I can't remember the pricing off the top of my head, but I would say that it's reasonably priced. Oh, they also serve alcohol here too so if your looking for a spot for a group of people, that is an option. I personally had a large Cass to wash down my meal. Daebak!
