If you are a fan of Korean fried chicken, Toreore is another good option that provides you with crispy chicken in fairly generous portions covered in a delicious sauce. The preparation here is not quick, taking about 15-20 minutes, the same as a normal sit down restaurant -- but the result is also just as crisp and delicious as you'd expect from a normal sit down restaurant. This is also priced similarly, though a bit lower overall than what you'd expect from the higher end KFC options. There isn't as extensive of options as you'd expect from bb.q or bonchon, but there's more than enough to satisfy your cravings here.
If you're feeling hungry after going to the spa and you're craving fried chicken, check this place out. It's located in H mart and the chicken is made as you order so it does take a while. We had to wait 20 min for our food. But the original chicken alone was very flavorful and juicy. The chicken was not burnt or bland. It was delicious and enough for three people at least. There are a few tables near this area if you want to dine in. Be careful because the chicken is hot.
The food here is made to order so expect to wait about ten minutes for your order. I typically only order the popcorn chicken because I order from multiple places in the food court. I tried the swicy sauce, which is more sweet than spicy. It was too sweet for my preference so I will be going spicier next time. I like that the chicken is not overly breaded. The French fries are seasoned nicely as well.
We got a combo box with 1/2 sweet and spicy and 1/2 garlic chicken! Really delicious fried chicken that is freshly made (be prepared to wait at least 20 mins), crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Between the two flavors, I really loved the garlic flavored fried chicken, and would definitely come back to order more. Amazingly, the chicken wings still tasted delicious the next day after being reheated.
Worth the wait for awesome garlic flavor chicken within the Niles-HMart. There is a visual menu and I decided for the $18 garlic chicken. They told me it would take average of 20 minutes, which I opt to wait rather than go grocery shopping and coming back (which is a what majority of people do). It is an intensive job to do every batch of chicken, they would coat the chicken pieces, fry and to my surprise, paint brush garlic seasoning to each and every piece. They would put all the chicken pieces in a nice decorative box with two small 1oz cups of vinegar radish cubes. I got an average of 12 small drumettes, wings and thighs. I would recommend Toreore to anyone who loves Korean Fried Chicken.
Got a half and half box of sweet & spicy and soy sauce and omg.. it was one of the best korean fried chicken I have tried in the U.S. So juicy, sauce is flavorful and have a right balance of sweet/salty, finger lickin good. The box they gave us to take away is super sturdy, and nicely tied. You would have to wait for around 20 mins to have order ready, so if you planned to go into Hmart, ordered the chicken first and when you checked out of the market your order should be ready. There is a seating area in H mart where you can sit and eat too, it's not too crowded when we visited.
Tried twice before writing this review. My first time was with the sweet and spicy chicken and my second time was with garlic tasty chicken. The sweet and spicy chicken had too much sauce- the chicken was drenched in sauce- while the garlic tasty chicken did not have enough sauce on them. I also enjoyed the white meat but the dark meat parts like wings legs and thighs had too much fat. I wish there were boneless options. I still enjoyed how generous the portion size was and how traditional they try to be by providing the pickled radish. I am not sure if I will try this place for the third time but I think the food is definitely worth trying at least once.
We ordered the sweet and spicy fried chicken. It came out to be around $18 I think. I didn't realized until I came to write my review that you can get half and half! We totally would have done it even if it was a few dollars more. Overall, we weren't that pleased with our order. It wasn't really spicy and was WAYYYY too sweet and I tend to like sweet foods. I make better pickled radish than theirs. Our order took about 20 mins which wasn't a big deal since we were shopping. Not sure if we'll go back and order the regular fried chicken...
Yes! I love me some K-fried chicken. The chicken here is fresh and the sauces are really good, albeit a bit sweet for my taste. But even with my ultra sensitive sweet taste buds, I loved the flavors, especially the spicy bbq. It was one of the few times that I ate something and was finally like, "hmm, that was pretty spicy," which is not something I say a lot. And like many people have already mentioned, the packaging at this place is so on point! Yes, you should totally eat this as soon as the chicken is plopped down in front of you, but if you aren't able to, the boxed packaging with it's strategically placed chicken air vents should help maintain its crunchy integrity at least some what. Also, shout out to the yummy daikon radishes. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the guy working here looked like he hated life. He hated his job and he hated the fact that I made him get up from off his stool to fry me some chicken. And when I asked him for a cup of water I thought he was going to flip a table over. Plus, I wish you could add on a cup of rice. Other than that, it was worth the $$ to eat some perfectly fried chicken!
So delicious! We love coming to pick up the chicken after hmart grocery shopping. Service was very friendly and warm. Thank you!
Who knew this gem of a location was found inside Hmart? Food and service was amazing. Had to wait 15 minutes for the chicken and fries but it was worth every second because they fry the food right after you order. SUPER FRESH! Ordered the Korean style lunch box 6 piece (Swicy level 1) with fries and salad. The sauce was sweet and barely had a kick to it. The fries were seasoned with garlic and I think green onion. The salad was your typical salad with lettuce, tomato, croutons, cheese and I think Caesar dressing? 10/10 would come back!
I have bought Korean fried chicken from quite a few different places. Some of them are dry some of them are too sweet. Never liked place where i would go back. This is it !! ToreOre Just nailed it !! Amazing and Must try place if you are a fried chicken person! I ordered the Half Hot sweet and spicy/Half Garlic Hot sweet and spicy was a game changer as it killed the sweet taste that makes you want to stop eating . Garlic tasted great too. I would definitely order same combination everytime. Packaging was really amazing. They give a gloves to eat which is pretty cool. Its about 17$ but portion size is huge and can easily feed 2-3 people. Its located inside super H mart mall so you can easily spend time shopping or juts looking at stuff. Go for it !!
OH MY GOD THIS CHICKEN IS SO GOOD Real reviews from a real person. Star rating is only based off food quality. service wise- normal it's good just order ur chicken and u wait 30-40 minutes fried chicken - don't wanna over exaggerate but having tried jollibees, Popeyes, kfc, browns, this fried chicken is so good because the juiciness of the meat doesn't interfere with the fried skin making it a light crunch with a juicy inside and it's just so freaking GOOD I would get more if I could, so Even if ur not a fried chicken fan (like my gf) she says the chicken here is so good and she would eat it again. Ugh, it's so good if u like fried chicken GOOO spicy and sweet fried chicken - OH MY GOD SO DELICIOUS! so I've had spicy fried chicken from a local korean mart which was good, just pre made and just small chicken wings but coming here THE BITE INTO THE CHICKEN U GET A SOFT CRUNCH AND JUST THE SWEETNESS AND TANGINESS TASTE THEN LATER ITS JUST UR GOOD OL KOREAN SPICE THAT REALLY TICKLES AROUND YOUR TONGUE AND THROAT and ugh it's so freaking good because it's the first time I actually try something spicy and sweet at the same time. It is really spicy so if you can't handle regular korean spicy like even kimchi or just spicy food in general, I wouldn't recommend but even for one bite it's just such a savory and delicious taste. Not as crunchy as the fried chicken but still a really juicy crunch like if you were to bite into a boneless chicken wing. So recommend to try if you're tame with spicy food. Overall experience, during this whole pandemic situation you can take it to go and the boxes are so cute! And you can do half/half of chicken like we did or just a full box. For like around 19 dollars it is SO worth the price and the amount/taste. Worth the wait? Yes. You get to walk around the store that it's inside! (H mart, 30-40 minutes$ Please eat here if you're trying to find a place to eat or try out around the area :)
I can't believe it took me this long to finally try Tareore. I missed out on all these years going to H-Mart and not stopping by to get their fried chicken. Mianhaeyo... Now when the family wants fried chicken, this is the first place that comes to mind. You get build in flavor, crunch, crispy, meaty, moist, succulent and much more going on with the palate that it is a circus of happiness in every bite... We have eaten there and brought it home, both times are good. read more
When I moved to the area I was told if I wanted good fried chicken I had to go to a Korean place and they were right. I tried this place inside H Mart to see how thier's was. The location was clean and the help was friendly enough. They are a bit pricey but not outrageous. I paid 9.99 for 6 of wings. They were available in a variety of flavors but I went with the plain. The wings were disappointingly small but moist and full of flavor. I gave it a 3.5 but rounded up to four because I was hungry and these hit the spot. read more
My husband went to Toreore on a recent trip to the HMart food court in Niles. Finding Toreore requires a little work as it is separate from the other food court restaurants but it is worth the trip. We ordered the 6 piece wings with the honey garlic sauce. The lunch special came with French fries and salad. The wings were sweet and not spicy! The French fries were crisp and the salad was an actual salad complete with croutons. The chicken and drink were reasonably priced. I would come back here again. I highly recommend Toreore! read more

We dropped by and picked up a combo order of their #2 sweet & spicy and #3 garlic Korean fried chicken. Product was fresh and the taste was great. The packaging was also aesthetically pleasing and also included with the wrapped chopsticks were a pair of thin plastic gloves which was a nice touch for the relatively messy (but normal) eating. The only gripe here might be that on our particular order, the chicken looked to be on the smaller side and the pieces tended to be more boney than what we've had from the competition (in this case nearby Noori). Anyway, we'll still return to try some other flavors one day, and possibly get a more meaty serving. read more
My favorite Korean chicken in Chicagoland. The chicken is definitely well marinated when you taste how tender and juicy the meat is, including white meat! The dark meat is so nice that it falls off the bone. The crispiness is perfect. Not too much fried batter and it's flaky. The chicken is cooked fresh. I love the sweet sauce's flavor followed by a light heat. I wish this were in the City of Chicago but we can't have it all lol. read more
I've always said I wish I could be a vegetarian but chicken is what really messes me up! Case in point - Toreore. They have amazing chicken!!! What would a life be without such mouthwatering chicken? I'm happy with this new-ish (two years old now!) edition to H-Mart in Niles because it brings some seriously good chicken to their food court area. I'm a dork and I love the name - Toreore Chicken & Joy with the cute logo picture of a fox. ^_^ Even their boxes are super cute. I don't see how I can go to H-Mart and not get their chicken now that I know it exists! They use vegetable oil which means No Trans Fat....and that makes me feel healthy while consuming deep fried white meat. Toreore offers varying levels of spice on their wings. My friends got the hottest level they have and they were dying. I have a picture of them wearing the provided plastic gloves & sweating while eating the wings and am debating putting it up. My evil side says yes, the world needs to see what these super spicy wings do to a couple of adult men who have grown up eating super spicy food their whole life! My angelic side says no, they will pinch you if you post the picture. Decisions, decisions! Personally, I stick with the non spicy girly stuff. I also like to stick with no bones, so I ordered their 'chicken nuggets' (konglish Takteggim as I call it - popcorn chicken) for $15.99. That may sound like a lot but the portion is huge! I shared the box with my friend and it was still way too much for the two of us. Even the two guys sharing their box of super duper spicy wings couldn't finish that off. Considering you can feed a few people with one order, it's a good deal! Once you order, it takes them 20 minutes to fry it up. I love knowing I'm getting my meal just out of the bubbling oil . The chicken is moist, succulent and rivals my all time favorite popcorn chicken at Yewosaii. The nuggets include a yummy dipping sauce that only adds to the flavor. The orders include moo (radish) which I'm not a fan of at all but it definitely helps if you're getting a spicy order of chicken. I've fallen in love with Toreore! read more

I came here on a Friday evening with friends at around 6:00PM..It wasn't busy at all; however, we still had to wait for our chicken to be fried/cooked.. (i guess this is a good thing.. since it's fresh and warm...but not good if you want something to go ASAP).. the wait is about 20-30 mins, but the wait for the food isn't too bad though since the restaurant is located inside H-Mart.. you have some options while you wait....you can walk around and eat samples at H-Mart or.. end up buying more food which will slowly start to fill you up by the time that the chicken is ready....there's a bakery right around the corner if you want to eat bread with your chicken.. or kimbbap at H-Mart if you want some type of rice w/ your chicken...:) Garlic chicken: delicious, crispy, and served hot (warm hot)... :) Sweet & Spicy chicken: I didn't enjoy this one as much....the sauce is just ok.. **chicken comes with korean pickled radish.. very delicious... goes perfectly w/ chicken...has a vinegary & sweet taste to it... so if you aren't a fan of vinegar.. you might not like it... Costs: we got 1 order of half Garlic chicken and half Sweet & Sour chicken for around $16.99+ ....yay for being able to have half & half.. so you can try more than one flavor.. Food portions: 4 ppl can share with one order of chicken.. *4 ppl that eat moderately (2-3 pieces each?)... Atmosphere: it's like a chicken joint at a food court...you can come here with friends or family... Miscellaneous tip: you should probably go to H-Mart and buy some drinks while you are waiting since it'll probably be cheaper than the ones they sell at Toreore...:) I would come here again because I would like to try the other chicken flavors.. :) read more
After being spoiled by LA's Koreatown for several years, I've been on the lookout for some really good Korean chicken since my move to Chicago. Located conveniently in H-Mart, I've always had interest in trying this place out and finally took the step. As many people recommended in their posts, I would highly suggest calling in to order beforehand since they take around 15-25 minutes to prepare your order. I got half-half of the garlic chicken (highly recommended here) and the sweet and spicy chicken, which was actually a pretty good combo. The garlic chicken was absolutely crispy and the garlic was not overwhelming at all. The sweet and spicy chicken was nothing special, but still good. For $17, I thought it was slightly overpriced, but for the amount of chicken and flavor, I think it's worth it once in a while. The best part is the Korean radishes (mooh) which goes perfectly with Korean chicken! Ohh.. and I can't forget about the super cute packaging the chicken comes in. read more

The garlic flavor is the absolute best. Despite its name, it doesn't taste garlicky at all. I also find fried chicken to be a bit dry and too crunchy sometimes, but this wasn't an issue with this flavor. The spicy one was delicious but waaaay too hot for me to handle. I wish they would allow us to pick the spice level because as much as I love the flavor of the sauce, I don't want to have my tongue burst into flames every time I eat it. The regular fried chicken was pretty mediocre. I don't think there was much that distinguished it from KFC fried chicken. It came with a honey mustard sauce, which I constantly used since the chicken itself was kind of hard and dry. read more

Tried this place a few weeks ago, definitely worth a try! I got half garlic tasty, half sweet and spicy. The sweet and spicy was good, had good flavor, but its very sweet so if you can't take much sweetness I wouldn't recommend. The garlic tasty was my favorite. It was full of flavor, juicy, very crispy, and the Pickles radish complimented it perfectly. I will definitely be back, not sure if they have other sides other than the radish,I think a side of rice would be a hit with the sweet and spicy! read more

The chicken is good. We got the half/half (regular for the kid (plain tasting but still good) and garlic for parents (which was good but a little sweeter than we expected). Service is the usual at many asian places (very business-like and no smiles). Would have given 4 stars, but prices have gone up. $19.99 plus tax (came out to $22). A little steep. But would recommend to try, a step above your regular fried chicken place! read more

The lady ain't joking when she warns you that the chicken is not just "hot", but "hot hot hot". She's not messing around. That chicken is kickin! First off, I love Korean fried chicken joints since they supply you with plastic gloves (it gets a bit messy). Oh and the pickled daikon radish. Some people really dislike the daikon, but it's a must for me. They're tasty, plus they help your mouth cool off a little from the blazing hot sauce. The chicken is fried crispy, but they're absolutely doused in their sweet and spicy sauce. My friend and I split the #6 Hot Sweet & Spicy. It definitely lived up to the lady's warning, but it was worth it. I love spicy food, but I don't think I've sweat that much in a while! On the way to the bathroom, I actually saw someone had left a hot sauce hand print on the wall. I guess they couldn't handle the chicken and collapsed. $15.99 gets you an order of fried chicken and there are non-spicy options available, such as the marinated nuggets or sweet garlic. Also the chicken is fried to order so it takes about 20 minutes, which gives you enough time to get groceries. read more

Food was average but service was not pleasant. Also I don't think half and half order works for everybody as seen on the review. I saw 10 boxes of half and half order in front of me but she said just one word NO. Also she informed it takes 25 minutes and said 'This is the way it is' after seeing my hesitation to order. Lol. Well, I understand they were busy at the time I was ordering but it will be better to have a proper attitude to the customers and hope she was not an owner. read more
