A small food court tucked inside J Plaza Niles/Park to Shop Supermarket (formerly Assi Plaza). I grew up coming to Assi, so it's definitely a nostalgic spot for me, and I'm so glad it stayed consistent through the years. I recently stopped by with my boyfriend while passing through the area, and Korean soup hits differently when it's freaking cold outside. I ordered the "mix" soup (seollungtang with meat and tendon), and it came out boiling just the way it should be. The bowl includes thin flour noodles, tender meat and tendon, and is topped with green onions. It also comes out with kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), regular kimchi, a dipping sauce for the meat, and salt to season the soup to your liking. All of that plus a Diet Coke came out to $33.99 for both of us. In this economy? That's a solid deal. The lady and the man working behind the counter are always sweet, which is a plus. The food was comforting and much needed. I'm so thankful this place still exists and is standing strong even after Assi is gone. So this is in the food court at the former Assi Market, which is now the Park to Shop. The food court itself is showing signs of revitalization as new vendors replace old ones... so that's a good sign. Korean Beef Soup is a quaint little soup shop in the corner. You order and wait and then your order appears from behind the curtain. I don't know all about Korean cuisine, but the goat soup does have great flavor. It doesn't seem to have dumb'ed down just to appease the locals (ha ha). I've been here twice and the little side dishes appear to rotate slightly so they weren't the same both times (I confess I ordered the goat soup both times). I see a lot of past reviews mention the oxtail. I wish I could get some of that. There is bulgogi and rice on the menu too. The spicy pork bulgogi was plentiful, but it wasn't as spicy as the soup. Love this place ! Esp for the kalbi (short rib ) soup ! It's sooooo good it's about 20 dollars but honestly short ribs ain't cheap these days. Even though it's beef they do a good job keeping the soup clean yet still retain the beef fat for that savory umami flavor. This place is located in the food court inside Park to Shop (formally Assi). The food here is surprisingly delicious considering its location in a grocery store chain. I've tried the blood sausage soup, gamja tang, goat soup, and galbi tang here. They're all excellent at reasonable prices similar to other Korean restaurants in the area. The goat soup is so good, and reminds me of my favourite place in the DFW. Gamja tang is my personal weakness, and I come here to fulfill the occasional craving. The blood sausage soup is also good, although the blood sausage could be better. Their sausage falls apart in hot soup so they serve it in a separate cup, fyi. The kimchi is also great. It's not that pale, bland kimchi that's usually served in food courts! Overall, a convenient place to have a quality meal with minimal fuss. read more

Really delicious food, and plenty of it! I ordered the goat soup, which is a big bowl of soup to begin with, and it came with rice, kimchi, and a turnip(?). I was not a fan of the turnip, but the kimchi was delicious, and I really liked the rice and soup together. The vibe here is very much that of a food court inside a mall, because that's what it is. There are mall noises, at least two different kinds of music playing from different directions, shoppers walking by. This vendor is located inside Assi mall at the food court. i had thought the mall was dying with all the new korean grocery stores popping up but it has recently revived and it gives me great joy! of all the korean groceries, i think Assi had the best food vendors! My usual go to is Lai Lai which has korean style chinese food. if you're looking for great korean soups check out 'Korean Beef Soup'... very original name I know. i usually get their oxtail soup which is incredibly flavorful and so hearty... makes me miss my mothers cooking. i have tried their chicken soups which are excellent and will have to try their super extensive menu of other korean stews and soups. highly recommend!! read more

If I wanted this many noodles, I would've just ordered ramyun. The budae jjigae was overloaded with noodles, and the beef broth had no flavor whatsoever. The bulgogi was mostly onions--completely disappointing. To make matters worse, a staff member made a rude and offensive comment, saying, "You must be Mongolian." Even if I were, that shouldn't matter--customers are the ones bringing in the business and the money. I ordered three dishes and only asked for a refund on two of them, but they still refused. The lack of respect and basic customer service was shocking. This was, without a doubt, the worst experience I've ever had at a Korean restaurant. Absolutely disgusting. I live far from Niles but I always come here whenever I am craving for some soup. They have the best soups I ever had here in the US. I always go for Tendon soup and Short Ribs soup. Always a thumbs up when it comes to taste and I always feel full afterwards. I always see the lady owner at the counter whenever I order so she's a fixture here. Me and my husband thought Assi Plaza closed since Google said it closed permanently. Good thing I did not surrender and googled for this specific restaurant hoping it relocated somewhere else. Lo and behold, they just changed the name from Assi Plaza to Park To Shop and when I called Korean Beef Soup's phone number, somebody answered and it was the owner and they are still open! If you want simple good korean soups, this place should be on your list. They offer most of the basics soups and their kimchi and radish sides are spot on. We came during an off dining time and they were still busy with a steady stream of customers that came in. Many uncles and aunties visited this booth so its got the community stamp of approval. We got the goat meat soup and Seoul lung tang. Both were tasty, had a perfect ratio of ingredients and came piping hot. Gave this place a try because we were hungry after shopping at Assi. The owner recommended us to get spicy pork soup and beef soup. I'm pleasantly surprised and impressed. Best Korean ox tail and knee soup combo. With added probiotic kimchi on the sides . Ox tail soup is a known collagen rich soup and the ine they serve is delish! Service is brisk. Wrote a review about this place under Assi Plaza, but this place so good it deserves it's own review. GET THE CHICKEN SOUP - samgyetang or dak gomtang. Didnt get to try the samgyetang because they didnt have any left but if it's anything like the dak gomtang I'm pretty sure its amazing. Samgyetang is soup with a whole chicken & ginseng while dak gomtang has chicken pieces but still a lot of it. This place makes it so well it brought me back to my childhood when my mom used to make it a lot. You know it's good when it makes you cry a little but still do a happy dance :) read more

I was amazed at much pork bones are in this soup. Can be shared by 2! The toppings came with some toasted nutty seeds and shiso. My beef soup tasted bland. I had to eat daikon and kimchee on every bite to improve taste. Noodles are not the aldente texture of most Asian noodles I've had like ramen and egg noodles. I will try the first soup and pork soup on my next visit. read more
