So this location is now called Goshen. Went in on a weekend evening and it was not that busy. The place had booths for 4 tucked away to the side. We got seated at one of those booths. There was a menu that we got- mind you there are no pictures on the menu, so you would probably have to read descriptions or figure out what dishes were if you were not familiar with Korean food. We ordered a variety of dishes to share for our party of 3. We ordered the seafood pancake, bossam, garlic wings and the budae hot pot. It was plenty of dishes for the three of us to try. The seafood pancake was good and prepared perfectly with lots of filling. The bossam was cooked well too and came with a big plate of toppings and sides to go with it, all of which were good. The garlic wings was not very much like Korean fried chicken but more had like just an Asian taste to it. The skin was not super crispy and cooked like typical KFC. Though still decent taste. Also came with some fries and some deep fried duk. The budae hot pot was large and shareable. The ramen came already cooked in the pot rather than sitting on top uncooked. I've been here on two separate occasions and each time they were pretty nice experiences. The first time I was here, I did not have any of their food and was mostly in the Karaoke room area. -The karaoke rooms are very clean and sort of small (we had three people). They had a huge collection of songs ranging from Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and English pop. The only thing that was confusing, was that the paper they had for you to understand the control, wasn't similar so we had trouble figuring out how to skip songs. The second time I was here, my friend and I got their beef tripe, braised beef tendon, and a bottle of soju. - The beef tripe, is actually intestines not stomach lining. I was sort of surprised, because I was expecting tripe but got, I believe, large intestines. However, it was one of the best ways I've ever had large intestines cooked, it was actually my favorite thing that I had here and have been craving it since. The sauce they give you to dip it into is a little bit spicy, but it cuts the grease perfectly. -The braised beef tendon paired really well with the intestines. It was very clean and simple. The beef was slow cooked in the broth and was almost falling off the bone. It also had glass noodles in it, which made the dish. The second time I was here, we were seated in this corner boot, which I enjoyed. It gave us a lot of privacy to chat and have a good time. I was invited to sing some karaoke, not knowing what to expect. Google maps led my Lyft driver here although the numbers above their doors were like 115 and 125, not 611 Milwaukee. I walk in and the atmosphere was pleasant. Gave the hostess the name of my friend and I was led to another area with karaoke rooms. Our room had a long curved bench that could probably hold 6 average sized people comfortably. There were additional chairs on the side. There were only 5 of us so we were good. There was of course, a large screen, speakers, and a remote for controlling the karaoke machine. They givev you a huge Bible of songs but we just used the handheld to load up all the songs we wanted. Two microphones were shared but we just sang outloud anyway. The rating system was weird cause many times it gave us a 00, which we just turned into a 100. Haha. They tried to match the background based on the song choice most of the time it was totally off. My friend ordered all the food so I have no idea what we got. I just know it was all good. My Cosmo drink was not the usual kind but it was good. I did have sips of Soon Hari, which is something I can see myself getting drunk from one day. Overall, a fun place. Bill was about $600, but it was expected, especially with a private room & all the food we ate. Good service and clean. read more

We came early in the evening so we had plenty choices of rooms for korean style karaoke. We had a room for 6 people. There was a good selection of English language songs! Have to thank the wonderful owners for creating this great hang out spot in Glenview! Was introduced to this neighborhood gem when I met up with a group of old friends for dinner. The array of dishes that were being brought & served tasted fresh and different yet the dishes were all homey comfort foods that you order in a Korean restaurant-bulgogi, seafood pancake and kimchi friend rice. The new dishes that hit different were the brisket salad & the rice cake soup! Then we noticed they had big karaoke rooms in the back with speakers, lights, monitors & videos the whole 9 yards. Fast forward two weeks later when celebrating my triplets 18th bday we decided to have our celebration there! Our server for the night was Ethan and he kept bringing the 24 teenagers trays of hot food-starting with veggie potstickers, jap chae, bulgogi & fried chicken wings! They also made a fruit tray for dessert & big pitchers of lemonade & sprite were being poured to all the guests! As for the karaoke the teens were singing everything from bohemian rhapsody, Bruno Mars, Sza & even Michael Jackson! They had all new songs on their vast karaoke machine! My kids will never forget this epic 18th bday! They let us bring an ice cream cake & decorate the room. We rented the space for 3hrs. I've brought my boyfriend here but his past two birthdays and it never disappoints! Dim lighting and lots of seating, big bar, and karaoke rooms for rent in the back! Such a cool vibe! We loved the kimchi fries, tteokbokki, and wings! We got the garlic chicken this time and it was super yummy and the whole pieces of garlic surprised us! So savory and easy to eat! I haven't been to Ju Rang in years and recently went back because the restaurant by Ju Rang closed. It's definitely more modernized with updated menu and interior. Very spacious place with chill vibe. Service was decent. A great place to come with a group of friends. My gf and I ordered spam kimchi fried rice and clam soup. I don't really like ordering basic Korean dishes that I can make at home but it was calling my name. Spam kimchi fried rice was very buttery and it came with a side of salad. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was as beautiful. Clam soup was also very refreshing. Both were great combination to go along with our soju and beer. The prices on the menu are high and portion isn't very big but expected at a Korean bar/restaurant. I'd probably go back to try other things on their menu and bring friends for their experience but don't know about being a regular. read more

Not as crunchy as I'd like, the wings were small and they were kind of sticky bitting into it. The ddukbokki was good but not the best I've ever had and the spam fried rice was spicy.. and got spicier as we ate it so then we couldn't taste anything else.. kind of a number because it was foot at first. Delicious Korean bar food that's worth it to try once or twice, but way too expensive to come more than that. Both times I care here, I sat in the booths which were relatively quiet and good for small groups. The lighting is dim inside and gives the place a good vibe for drinking and talking. The service is also relatively fast which was nice. The kimchi spam fried rice was pretty big and had a good flavor to it, but it was too expensive for something that you can easily make at home. It was at least served in a hot bowl which allowed that wonderful crispy rice to form on the bottom. The fried soondae (which I couldn't find on the menu anymore??) was crispy, well fried, and surprisingly not super oily. I love blood sausage so this dish was an upgrade to regular soondae. If you're a cheese maniac like my friend and I, you're going to enjoy the cheese ddukbokki. The cheese was melted through, had a great cheese stretch, and had a couple of nice crusty spots. I'm not a huge fan of ddukbokki but even I liked this dish a lot. Finally, the chicken. The scallion chicken is my favorite of everything I've eaten here. The scallions helped brighten up the oily chicken and also gave a good mix of textures to the dish. The garlic chicken was also good, and had a flavorful sauce with plenty of garlic flavor. Ultimately I'd go again to bring someone who's never eaten Korean bar food, but the high prices would deter me from coming regularly. read more

Did not try the food, but we will next time. Just wanted a place to escape for a few hours after a really bad day. Ethan was a polite server so I can't really understand people saying the staff was rude... I'm going to assume that they, as guests, were rude and the staff treated them as they were being treated. BE NICER TO FOOD SERVICE WORKERS, DAMNIT! The ambiance was great. Clean. Safe. We had a karokee booth for 2 and were there for 3h. They have a good amount of pop songs. A decent amount of rock songs (pop rock). But my wife likes k pop and she was happy she got to sing things normally not found in other karokee bars. Great late night spot in the suburbs with tasty korean bar food. I finally came here and got to sample some dishes and soju, and I was impressed. The decor is pretty upscale, and the food was flavorful. The scallion chicken was decent, though not much sauce was on it. The deukbokki was deliciously spicy and huge portion. I ordered tea... They're out of that too. WTF. It's not that they can't make any, they don't have it. I pointed to the menu, repeated it. Asked why it's on the menu. I have a cold. I did not want soda or alcohol. She finally brought me rice tea. They don't understand English. I swapped to Korean. She was more responsive to my incredulity at the lack of tea bags. Food seems overpriced... and not particularly good. The new friend that invited me here (and the one that accompanied me)... seemed to be on the lookout for Korean Guys. Consistently good foods. But no kids allowed. I loved the fried rice served on hot stone plate. The atmosphere is private as most of the seating are booth, dark because it's more like a drinking lounge feel, and so no kids. They have a call button on the wall, just like Korea, and server responds very quickly. They also have a slide show screen in every booth having their dishes on a rolling display, honestly everything looks so good I want to order them all. Their chicken is a tad bit dry for my taste, since many pieces are white meat and with bones, but flavors are really good. Kind of expensive though. read more

The latest addition to the Korean late night hot spots! I went here on Saturday night to try it out with some of my girlfriends and it just doesn't have the same atmosphere as Moraeshigae or DMZ. I would recommend it for dates as it's a very chill, more romantic type scene then the fun, drinking with your friend atmospheres at nearby Korean bars. The music was Korean ballads and the decor is super nice. The staff seemed nice enough but for some reason didn't ask us if we wanted anything or offer a menu when we sat up at the bar in the back of the bar. Aside from the bar, it is all highly segregated tables. So if you want a more intimate Korean bar experience for a date or just want to stay within your group. However if you want to socialize with friends you might run into at the bar or make new random friends, this isn't the place for you. This place just wasn't the right fit for us on this particular night though so I will need to go back and properly review the foods & drinks. Also, we took the last parking spot so there may be a parking issue moving forward whereas that's never an issue at any of the other KBars. read more

I wanted to take my boyfriend and my friends for the Jurang experience and made reservations on Google and when we arrived, the waitress said that they didn't have that reservation system. I showed her my reservation confirmation on my email and she still looked at me like I was crazy. A nice young man later confirmed, we had reserved a table, despite our hosts denial. Throughout our dinner, the waitress was impatient and short with us, even though she only took our order and came back once throughout our meal. She made us feel like a nuisance, asking her for utensils and another round of drinks. We planned to order more food and drinks, but given the lack of attention, poor bussing, and disinterest in our overall experience, we will not be back. It's unfortunate because I once frequented this establishment, and enjoyed the food. Based on this experience, Jurang is no longer a place I would recommend. read more

Went here for a moms night out with about 13 other moms. It was a nicely decorated with chandeliers and modern decor. It would be perfect for a date night with the dimmed lights and intimate small booths surrounding. Since we were a larger group, they gave us our own room, which was spatious and private. We ordered a bunch of platters to share. I never had Korean food before, so it was nice being able to try a bunch of different things on the menu. Everything we had was very flavorful. What I liked best was the fried chicken with scallions. It had a sweet and sour sauce on it, plus the onions. It was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Yum! I also enjoyed the kimchi pork belly and tofu. Again, excellent flavor incorporated. Our service was good. However, if we didn't have a bell in our table, I'm not so certain they would come around to see how we were doing. There are individual booths for karaoke too. The bar food is so good here . Reminds me of Korea street food . So yummy . We had beef salad , kimchi fries , spicy rice cake , fried chicken . All very good the chicken was very crispy and juicy . The beef salad has so much flavor . Spicy rice cake was perfectly cooked not soggy like other places . Kimchi fries are always good . Service is better when you get there right when they open . It can get crowded and you'll have to wait and be patient. The beer selection is not great but they have a large soju collection with all the different flavors . If you're in the burbs, jurang is a solid spot with a good range of shareables and drinks. The decor is pretty upscale and spacious. We got kimchi fries, dukbokki, budae jjigae, chadol salad, and fried chicken. All the food was the well made and the rice cakes and noodles weren't soggy at all. The fries are pretty addicting and they use nacho cheese. Will def be back read more

Review #218 - 2016 Showed up for a late dinner with a friend and we were seated pretty quickly. The place is actually pretty nice and big in comparison to the average Korean restaurant in NorCal. I ordered the pollock roe stew and my friend ordered the beef brisket salad. My stew was actually a lot bigger than what I had expected for $15.99 and the flavor was almost as good as what I'm used to in NorCal and Honolulu. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of the brisket salad. The flavor was very bland and there was way too much raw green onions, thank goodness I didn't order it! We were served a complimentary order of steamed eggs, which was also pretty good. The biggest downside was they didn't have any other banchans, which I've never experienced at any other Korean restaurant. The food and service gets a 3.5-star, but I bumped it up to a 4-star since they were the only restaurant opened after 9 PM within a 20-mile radius. read more

Shook! Sundae is one of my favorite dish because my grandpa's brother used to make it for living. Quick history: China took over my country - Tibet; back in 1959 and my grandparents had to escape to survive. They settled in Nepal as a refugee and did unimaginable things to feed their family. My grandpa became a butcher and his brother made sundae and sold meat. Life was tough. Thanks to everyone, our generation grew up without much pain and suffering. When I used to live in Nepal, I would often go see my grandpa's brother to eat his sundae. In Tibetan we call it gyu-ma. It's one of most popular dish in our community. Ever since I moved to the US, I would often visit Toronto where most of my family and friends reside and that's one of the few places in North America where I could find a good gyu-ma. New York is another one. None in Chicago nor anyone here either knows or don't make it. It was the day when SMTM5 had concert in Roosevelt theater around September. I met one of my sorority sister (Korean) and we decided to hang out here after the concert. Never knew I could find gyuma here in the form of sundae! Though we do have a bit different filling, blood sausage is blood sausage and it's the best things ever in whatever language and fillings. I love how creative they are with sundae. There were some tteok and glass noodles(?) with it. It was so spicy at first but I visited again around end of October with my friends and it wasn't as spicy then. I love their Ttoekbboki too! Decent food despite this place being known as a Korean bar. I've been here a couple times for the main purpose of eating and not just drinking. Their chicken wings definitely live up to their hype--a must try. My favorites are the 'Scallion Chicken' and 'Garlic Chicken'. Another notable dish is their 'Grilled Brisket Salad'--seasoned perfectly! Love it. I've tried several other dishes here which were all pretty good. The only disappointing menu item was their 'Budae Jjigae'. It definitely included all the usual ingredients, but something felt like it was missing... Maybe it's because they bring it out to you all pre-prepared instead of the usual experience of having it prepared in front of you on a portable gas stove. The price also seemed a bit too high for a pretty shallow stone pan/bowl. The interior decor is very nice. In fact probably the nicest I've ever seen for a Korean bar. The light fixtures add unique character and adds a classy ambiance. All tables come with a call-button for convenience which is always a plus.
