Eat all the time and every time is amazing! Staff are always very kind and attentive, bring out meat fast and change the grills frequently. Usually not too busy either so either no wait or a very short wait. Restaurant is very large and clean. They have a bar (although I usually don't see people sitting there) and a serve yourself ramen station. Meat always tastes fresh and a good amount of options. Mr. Kimchi is one of my favorite food places of all time! They never disappoint with the quality of meats, sides, and assortment of banchans. I love getting the brisket because it's easy to cook and pairs so well with the sauces, kimchi, lettuce, and rice. The pork belly is delicious as well and comes in an assortment of different flavors. I also like to get their soon du bu since it's always so warm, comforting, and flavorful. Additionally, my friends and I tend to get the somaek tower (beer and soju). It tastes so good, but the alcohol creeps up on you! The service is always top notch since they always check in on us if we need more meats and if we need any refills. Additionally, they occasionally come by to change out the grill when it looks too burnt. The ambiance is pretty modern, and I like how they have a lot of seating. There's even a section to make your own ramen if you just want to stop by for a quick bite. They offer the ramen free with the ayce package as well. I do enjoy that there's a parking lot as well. I highly recommend going to Mr. Kimchi if you want some grilled meats with some warm comforting soup! read more

I tried very hard to enjoy the famous Mr. Kimchi recommended by many Internet people. Good: large variey of meats to choose from and if you care about eating large quantities of meat, this is your spot. Best meats are the Kalbi, in marinated short rib, and brisket. Octopus was ok too. Ramen wall and cook your own ramen is a cute concept. Supposedly open late on a weeknight. Not Great: The pork items we ordered tasted barnyardy and the marinated pork sauce were inedibly weird and to avoid getting charged $15 for left over meat, I rinsed off all the sauce and doused in sesame oil. KFC chicken breading was thick and heavy with no flavor. All of the banchan was disappointing in flavor and texture, especially the Italian dressed lettuce, plain chap chae noodles with no veggies, strange textured radish and sweet kimchi. The tofu and soybean soups were really salty and MSG forward. I asked for some chopped green onions to help the flavors, but they didn't have any. What Korean restaurant doesn't have green onions? Last unfortunate thing is, we showed up at 8:30pm and they rushed us out before 10pm because they decided to close 2 hours earlier than the stated midnight closing. So we didn't get to try the ramen or ice cream. Also they didn't let us spin the wheel for a chance at a prize or discount. For $91 after tax and 18% mandatory tip for two people, I should've stayed in the city for a much more decent meal. read more

This was our first visit at Mr Kimchi. We came with a large group of 16 and they did a great job of serving our table. We had a good mix of adults and kids. The food overall good for ayce. I liked the banchan especially the pickled radish and kimchi. I did feel like the proteins could be seasoned more especially if you weren't eating alongside ramen or something more savory. This is my Favorite Ayce Korean bbq place in Chicagoland. They have unique items like beef intestines. They even have a DIY ramen making station that is included in the AYCE. Everytime I have been there, I was seated almost immediately and any dishes ordered was served within minutes. read more

Mr Kimchi had always been a great Korean BBQ spot but this was my first time at this location and they did not dissapoint! We put our names on the list and didn't eait too long, probably around 5 minutes and then we were seated. The inside had such for decore and a nice bar off to the side. We're in the very back room and were given menus and water right away. We decided to do the premium menu. We orderer pork belly, beef brisket, beef bulgogi, and the galbi. We also got rice and the egg casserole (steamed egg), the sides were all very well made and complemented each dish very well. All the meats were such good quality and marinated so well! The steamed egg was so fresh and made perfectly, wow! And my favorite part about this meal was the free ramen station! Wow it was such a great contribution to the meal. The wall of different ramen options were so exciting! It cooked pretty quickly about 4 minutes and then I was back at my table eating ramen with kimchi and pork belly! Our server Chan was so kind, tentative and was making sure he checked on us and didnt need anything! Overall great food, good quality meats, great service and just such a great vibe! We went in today for Mr. Kimchi's lunch special (which is still all you can eat with some limitations). As a party of four, we didn't need to wait at all to be seated, and we were able to put in our meat orders pretty much immediately. Mr. Kimchi allows your table to order three choices of meat at a time. The regular menu has a more limited selection than the premium menu (the main difference being seafood and intestines, as well as more premium cuts). We opted for the regular menu since we were pretty sure we couldn't eat as much as, say, a party of 10. The quality of the meats were excellent, and I'm pretty sure you can get refills on sides as you like. However, keep in mind that in the "free sides" section, anything below the white line is only for dinner. That was a surprise to us as new diners, but they still had plenty of options like doenjang jjigae, kimchi jjigae, cheese corn, and steamed egg amongst others. My one issue is with the sauces. Instead of ssamjang, they offer a thousand island-like mayo dressing alongside a tsuyu-like sauce. Both were tasty, but I missed having the option of ssamjang. Sauces are refillable though, which is a plus. There is the addition of free ramen at dinner, but it's again not available for the lunch special. There's also an option to like their Instagram page for a complimentary Melona bar in restaurant. Service was efficient and no-nonsense. The grills were switched out really quickly, and there wasn't any problems with ordering. Parking is free in the plaza. I imagine it might be more packed on the weekend, particularly dinner. read more

I've been to a lot of K-BBQ restaurants in the U.S., Canada, South Korea, and China, and this was the worst one I've been to by a wide margin. We got the premium menu ($34.95--your bill will automatically include 18%, which the server does not tell you). We ordered the beef brisket, the Mr. Kimchi steak, galbi, beef thin intestine, thin sliced pork belly, and baby octopus. The meat quality was very low (tough and smelly, with marinades way too salty). The baby octopus was terrible--the worst seafood I've ever had. It wasn't all terrible, though. The corn cheese, kimchi, and egg casserole were all right. The salad seriously needs to be changed--it tastes just like some wide-cut cabbage with teriyaki sauce over it. The tteokbokki should have been served warm, but it was served cold. Lastly, the décor is a little random, but it's not bad overall. The music is way too loud, and you'll have a hard time hearing anyone around you. read more

I've been to a few different Mr Kimchi locations and have enjoyed my experience here the most. For those who have been familiar with the area for awhile, I believe this building used to house Woori Village before Mr. Kimchi took over. If you're a fan of KBBQ, this is one of the better places to go to in the area. They have two options for ACYE, a regular vs a premium, but given the extra meats you can choose from (and premium being only $5 more per person), it's hard pressed to not pick the premium option. Your meats are divided into 3 main categories with a limit of 3 dishes being brought over at a time: pork, beef, and everything else (chicken, seafood, sides, etc.). While the options within each meat selection isn't going to be much different than what you'd expect at any other ACYE KBBQ place, it's always nice to have different cuts / marinade options. Two other reasons why this location stands out above the other Mr Kimchi places is that there isn't (or they didn't enforce) a 2 hour time limit. They also have a huge selection of ramen at their ramen bar that you can complement your meal with! (It's included in the ACYE price!) read more

The beef brisket is one of the better cuts there, quick and easy to cook. They also have a help yourself ramen bar with a large variety of ramen to choose from. This location is very spacious so you can enjoy your meal without being right on top of another table. We did the premium option. I didn't realize they had a ramen wall that was included. Ill have to try it next time. The service and food is consistent across all their locations which is nice. I liked the bulgogi and short rub best. As for the sides love corn cheese and the KFC. I've been to the other two locations. The one on Randhurst is the best one imo because the booths they have are more spacious than the tables and chairs in Niles. The meat quality is better too. The original location is okay, too busy for my taste. This location is in the old Woori Village location. Plentiful parking. $35 for premium and $30 for regular. Honestly, why go regular? For $5 more, you can have access to 30 items. Service was not as terrible as other reviewers said, the service was good not great. This one has a ramen bar. The ramen packets you can get are cheaper at the store. People might as well go to a ramen shop. Meat quality is decent for ayce. I recommend bulgogi beef, galbi, any of the pork belly's, kfc chicken, corn cheese, egg casserole, and spicy tofu soup. Pro tip: watch your meats when you're cooking. WARNING TO TRAVELERS!! WORST AYCE KOREAN BBQ EXPERIENCE!! I would never come back. We visited around 9:30 PM because their posted hours say they close at midnight, but were told they actually close an hour earlier. If that's the case, update your hours!! Service was terrible from the start. We were ignored at the door. They made it seem like it was our fault we came during their open hours. Then, our server was inattentive, didn't offer drinks beyond water, and basic requests like forks took until the end of the meal. The one biggest issue: we ordered premium meats specifically for one item, and it ran out after the first round. No warning, no apology, no effort to make it right. Another staff member (not our server) who first ignored us at the front, came to our table. He said nothing, shoved our items aside, and aggressively threw meat on the grill. Completely unprofessional and walked away. We asked for a manager and were lied to about who was in charge. Only one server at the end actually tried to help and confirmed the lie. The cherry on top, the Korean fried chicken came out raw. We asked for our check and manager card but was denied. I found a card upfront and called later. When I called later, the person claiming to be 3 different titles but "was in charge" dismissed everything AFTER he found out we were not from Chicago. We were offered a refund up until then. He then insisted we received "exceptional service," which clearly wasn't true. We obviously would be calling and addressing the issue. Overall, I wish I was joking. It was one thing after another and this is a learning lesson to document everything, because this is outrageous. This place lacks basic service, honesty, and food quality. As a KBBQ lover this place is very mid - the kimchi banchan is good but the radish paper flavor was off and the meat wasn't that great. The 1 star really comes from the service. Our server was somewhat helpful and helped us cut up meat but made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The staff would stand directly in front of our table multiple times and watch us for some reason. They also all hovered around right after we paid to clean. Surprisingly, the kimchee was not that great, considering its part of the namesake of the restaurant. It passed. The kalbi was very sweet, and not the best cut but edible. The egg souffle was good and the fried chicken was very crispy but needed salt or seasoning in the batter. The spicy tofu miso soup was tasty. I still dont understand the 4.9 star rating. Have to give them 5*. They switched their kalbi. From the boneless "kalbi" go real bone in short rib. The taste is 3x better!! Only downside was they limit you to one serving per order. Ie. So I can do 3 different meats but it can't be triple kalbi. This location is newer than the mt. Prospect location but the inside is nowhere near as nice. The hoods are super antiquated so don't wear clothes you don't want to smell like smoke. The kids loved their ramen bar but it's just filler food. I forgot to take pics but overall for the real kalbi it's easily worth $35 per person. read more
