Great find for casual Korean dining. Came here for a nice lunch. You order from the counter and then you are given a buzzer which let's you know when your order is ready. I tried the spicy pork lunch special and it was a huge portion, also included miso soup, and kimchi on the side. Absolutely delicious and not too spicy and a little rich of sweet in it as well. Service was wick and the restaurant was clean. Also parking is very easy.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile. I wqs craving Japchae and it seems like its one of their speciqlties. I loved the amount of noodles it had coz i really dont like places that has more veggies than noodles but i iwish it wqs just a teeny tiny bit more sauce. Taste wqs really good thought. Other things on the menu looks really good to i would have to go back and try them. I would probably be frequenting this place because its like a minute from my place. And they also have lunch specials Service was good and place is nice and clean. Definitely going back! Happy eating!

Joy Grill is such a gem. The portions are generous and well worth the price, and I highly recommend trying their combo plates. Each one comes with your choice of soup or salad plus a variety of side dishes, which makes the meal feel complete. You can pick white rice or upgrade to fried rice and noodles for a small extra charge. My favorites were the spicy chicken and spicy pork--both packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The bulgogi was also delicious. You can really taste the wood-fire charcoal on their BBQ, and it takes the meat to a whole new level. Customer service at the counter was great, and there's plenty of seating inside, so it's an easy and comfortable place to enjoy a meal. I'd definitely come back again.

I heard that this was a beloved food court restaurant and they have now grown to a full-sized location in a strip mall. I've never been to their food court, so I think I'm coming in without bias or expectation, hopefully. We quickly figured out how this place works. It's counter service and you grab a seat anywhere and they'll buzz you when the food is ready (that food court pedigree!). The menu contains the most common grilled meats and some/most combinations can be served with rice or as a bibimbap or in a fried rice or in a japchae. It looks like they do a lot of takeout business as well. The food came out in stages. I guess they want us to experience fresh off the line. They handed the buzzer back to me with each partial service and it undoubtedly went back off every time I finish setting the food down. The food is fresh and tasty. I like that it's unabashedly serving grilled meats cause that's really what I want and this is nice, simple, and unfussy.

There is barely any people except us

The food is great and they have great music, but I am surprised there is barely any people here!

We were celebrating a birthday and they brought the birthday boy a Moon pie with chocolate sauce and a sparkler. It was very sweet of them to l celebrate with us. A couple of folks in our party had a few drinks. They also said those were good. It said karaoke, but no one was doing karaoke and we were so busy eating, we forgot to ask about it. Service was very good. The wait staff checked in on us often. I really loved that the tables had a little drawer that had all the utensils and napkins that we would need throughout the dinner. Fun place to have a dinner with friends.

Our group shared the following: popcorn chicken, stir-fried chicken gizzards, fried eggs with Spam, corn cheese, truffle French fries, seafood pancake, bossam (pork belly, shrimp paste, lettuce wrap), rose tteokbokki, steamed egg souffle with cheese, spam and kimchi fried rice, station noodles (beef broth, veggies), and strawberry bingsoo. My favorite of the night was the rose tteokbokki. The tteokbokki was perfectly chewy and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. The popcorn chicken was also good and paired well with the sauce it came with. The bossam was on the dry side and the seafood pancake was pretty standard. The fries were good but wouldn't pay $10 for a basket of fries if we came back next time. The corn cheese was also good but the plate was small. There was a call button at each table which was convenient. Food came out individually as it was ready instead of all at once which was to be expected for our party size.

The redecorating and ambience was modern and sleek, with fully operational and clean water features. Grills were gas-operated, one grills there own meat items here. I really liked the natural-stone mini-subway style tiles on the walls. Like a lot of Korean places I have seen, the seats had minimal padding. I think this would be a great place for a date if you're in the area, a prize in an unassuming strip mall anchored by an auto parts store. Food was great, they happily and generously provided more banchan and also gave us complimentary bowls of soy paste soup that was practically jumping out of the bowl. As civilised as I tried to be, using my chopsticks and the cooking tongs correctly, I still felt like I completely stuffed my face like at a trough '^_^ it was all so good. Maybe to accommodate the neighborhood, the banchan was not nearly as spicy as we expected, so that might be great for someone trying Korean for the first time. Some might balk at the prices of some items, such as $24.99 for 1/2lb of raw meat, but we had a very enjoyable time and hope to come again.

However, the price was a bit much for this I'd say. Beef tartar: 3 of 5 As there was nothing to special to it. Wouldn't get it a second time. I'd say the trip was disappointing for our party of 5 and what we got didn't match the quality of other gopchang restaurants in LA. For me who did not eat intestines I'd say it's a 3 of 5 place, but I'd say the value for the intestines based on what my party ate was more of a 2 of 5 as it was mostly grease that overwhelmed everything with no meaningful way to reduce it. Service was a good 4 of 5, but not as attentive at times.

For the 5 of us, we ordered the double portion of large intestines, beef tartar, and the bulgogi hotpot. The presentation of food initially was great. I've been to gopchang restaurants in Koreatown in Los Angeles and in Korea. I have not been to one that cooks gopchang in a grill with no outlet for oil drainage. For something greatly oily, it felt uncomfortable seeing it cook in an abundance of its own oil. The restaurant's lackluster solution to all of this oil was to dunk in large pieces of bread to soak it up. This not only looked very unappetizing but was not a successful solution. Additionally, letting the gopchang cook in its own oil, left the gopchang to be "fried" crisp and hard. The bulgogi hotpot had a good amount of meat and vegetables, but was way too sweet. They gave a small bowl of chive salad to a group of 5 of us to share, which we were each able to get very small portions of. They charge extra if you want more chive salad. Overall, a very disappointing experience, could not recommend.
