Don't go here.... Go to the store and buy yourself a frozen pizza. DiGiorno is excellent compared to tnf.

Cosimo's Poughkeepsie - Pasta dinner

Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is contemporary modern. The menu is Italian…read more/ pub fusion with modern twists on tavern favorites. The venue itself is art deco style, kept immaculately clean (including the restrooms). I had the Grilled Chicken sandwich with avocado and aioli sauce, with Tuscan fries (house cut I'm told) both of which were very good. The wife had the Honey Chicken Ginger Salad and we both agreed that it was excellent. Our server, Jenny, deftly handled the full bar, the bar dining area, and the drink orders for the entire restaurant. There was a dessert special of Italian Lemon Cake offerred, but unfortunately, I couldn't convince my wife to split it. The prices were very reasonable, and the food was very good. We'll definitely come back.

It slightly pains me to write this review, as my first experience at Cosimo's was soooooo good…read more Let's get on with it tho. We visited on the Friday before V-day, the house was packed around 18:30. The wait was 45 mins which wasn't too bad for a Friday night. We decided to wait in the lobby after trying to find a cozy waiting spot near the bar and missing. My wife attempted to order me a mocktail, but of course the bar was crazy busy. When the bartender finally acknowledged her, the mocktail requests obviously threw the bartender for a loop because I ended up with watered down ginger beer and a sprig of mint. My advice for anyone looking for a virgin drink at this bar would be to order a club soda with lime and call it a night. We were seated at the 45 min mark, and were escorted to the packed bar, where they have some exterior tables for diners. My seat was in the middle of the couch split, which I found mighty uncomfortable so we opted to request a seat in the main dining room, which the staff happily obliged. With dinner we ordered hot tea and were given lukewarm water and a choice of Stash teas. Our beverage experience here was very disappointing. The calamari arrived and may have been the only highlight, although we didn't find it to have that fresh calamari texture. My wife ordered a ravioli with mushroom, and felt the pasta and veggies were just swimming in butter. I ordered my steak medium and it was okay, but the juices from the greens made the croquettes soggy, and unenjoyable. The server did his best, and all the staff here are so kind. Coulda been an off night but I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. The Mocktail Madam.

This added so much to the overall experience. When eating there remember this is a learning environment so overlooking or being patient is important. The Calamari was perfectly fried with a slightly spiced tomato sauce. 19/10 Since the day was cold and rainy, I ordered the Tomato soup special. Creamy with well balanced basil notes from a basil oil and whole leaf. 9/10 The student who waited on us recommended a sandwich from the walk-in side of the dining area. The kitchen was gracious and agreed to make it for my husband. It was the star of the meal! Made from the sourdough pizza dough, it was layered with a perfectly fried chicken cutlet, arugula, fresh heirloom tomatoes, melted cheese, and a sauce!! The layers of flavors did exploded with each bite and was the best sandier have had in a long time! 10/10 The PEI Mussels were underwhelming despite the generous portion. What would have made the dish is more sauce, 7/10 The Zeppoli's were superb and again the recommendation to add a side of vanilla bean ice cream was spot on. Warm, pillowy and rich chocolate flavor enhanced by a warm milk chocolate sauce. Add a layer of vanilla ice cream and chefs kiss! 10/10

3.5 stars for the experience. Love the idea of coming up students working and gaining experience…read more The prix fix menu is a great value though and food came out fairly fast. However, I thought I would enjoy the food more than I did, the mains were a little bland and underseasoned. I don't think I would return, although I do want to try the bakery at some point as the desserts were my favorite part.

Hyde Park Pizza & Gyros - Make your own gyro for two

If you love gyros, run don't walk, to this low key place in Hyde Park. After touring FDR's house…read moreand museum we wanted a simple dinner. We also had been chasing a good gyro all summer. Initially, we ordered two gyros and fries, but the girl behind the counter suggested we get the "make your own" plate, so we did. We got a lot of shaved meat, two pitas, tzatziki, fries, and salad. The salad was a real salad (with feta, olives, and dressing) not just the lettuce, onions, and tomatoes that go on the gyro. The meat was shaved (not a patty), the bread was delicious and soft (didn't break while we ate it), and the salad and dressing were fantastic. I can't speak to the pizza, although other people were eating it and it looked good, but the gyros and service were fantastic!! This "hole in the wall" was amazing: Don't skip it if you are visiting Hyde Park, NY!!

The pizza was solid--nothing mind-blowing, but they do have a couple of creative combos that stand out from the usual fare. The sauce was surprisingly good--nicely balanced with a little tang and sweetness. Unfortunately, the crust didn't hold up as well. It lacked structure and tended to fall apart, which made for a bit of a messy slice. Not a destination spot, but worth checking out if you're nearby and in the mood for something casual with a little personality.
