What a great place! We were in the area and stopped by for dinner. We didn't realize that there was also a comedy club in the back and will definitely be back for a show. We looked up the acts and they sound great. Ambiance was great!! The dining room was elegant but we still comfortable in casual clothes (oops). They had a great patio that they were getting ready to open (apparently there is live music and a bar on the weekends). The comedy club was dark and moody and there is a speakeasy downstairs. The food was excellent! We had a cheese and charcuterie board and split the shrimp and grits. They split it for us which was such a thoughtful touch - look at this generous portion and this is only half of it!! What really made it special was the owner, TK, came around to check on us and introduce himself. You can tell that he and his wife take great pride in the place and it showed. read more

Very inclusive place which is one by some smart people. When you enter this place, you can see that a lot of thought and planning went in to it. Of course the comedy hall was great I liked their concept of basement lounge as I usually do not like loud places TK and his wife are really nice and funny. I feel like I laughed here as much as I usually do at famous comedian's show, if not more. I think it's smart that they have multiple comedians on the stage for 10 to 15 minutes. Went for a comedy show and arrived early, I sat at the bar and it was a full 20 minutes before I was acknowledged and it didn't seem busy enough for that. The bartender let me know they were short handed and comped my drink for the wait. Nikita was friendly and told me more about the place and definitely helped me forget the long wait. She made an amazing espresso martini. The comedy venue was small but perfect size and I enjoyed cozy private seating up against the wall. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and they were really good paired with the greens underneath. I even visited the speakeasy underneath the bar once the show was done. It seemed nice and had live music. Overall I had a great time and Nikita was awesome. 4 stars since the service was an issue. But definitely try them out!!! read more

We were lucky enough to be a guest at TK's restaurant and comedy club over New Year's Eve and what an experience it was! we loved every single thoughtful detail curated by the owners and carried out by the wonderful staff. From arrival to leaving everything was beautiful the staff was attentive and the food and drinks were delicious. I cannot say enough great things about this establishment. We had steak and salmon both were cooked perfectly, offered generous portions and paired perfectly with amazing side items. The standup portion of the evening was a riot! All of the comedians that performed were funny and kept the crowd engaged and laughing. I really like that this venue is kind of a three in one you could have dinner go to the comedy show and then go to the little speakeasy without ever having to leave the building. The great thing is that each space is so thoughtfully designed that you don't feel like you're in one giant building for all of these activities. Last night I hosted my husband's 50th bday party in the speakeasy below TK's Comedy Club. I cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. I was quite nervous to trust a venue I have no experience with or references for with such a large event, but it was so easy and flawless all the way through. Booking was a breeze. All I did was lay out my budget (we were able to secure 4 hours in the space for about a third less than other places with similar upscale ambience), approve a pre-chosen menu Kara sent my way, and let her know what kind of cake I wanted. She did all of the (fabulous!!!) decoration on her own (adding a Happy 50th sign I didn't even request), found sample cakes for me to approve, provided service staff, fully catered, set up, and cleaned, and all I had to do was show up. Guests raved about how cool the place was. You enter the speakeasy through a hidden bookcase, and the rooms are well laid out and glamorous/festive. They were also one of the only places I found that allowed me to bring in a live band! Truly just perfect, wall-to-wall. I will be back for my 50th in a few years! read more

I came in a party of two with a reservation, on Friday evening. This establishment is beautiful & I love the atmosphere! The decor was great, with nice lighting, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. Just based on that I would love to return to the restaurant. Let me start there. I felt under dressed as I came after work to decompress. The hostess assured me I was fine. We were seated promptly, I did have a reservation, and our server showed up pretty quickly. I asked Steven what drinks did he recommend based on my pallet and he recommended Creamy Dreamy and Litty Ditty. I ordered Creamy Dreamy & the Shrimp Scampi pizza. My drink was good I think I was just expecting more sweet, but it was not bad. The pizza is a good size, I was only able to finish two slices. It was pretty good but it is missing something, not salt but a seasoning and I can't think of what it is. Just for the record, I would still order it again. While waiting for our food the owner came over to our table greeted us, introduced himself and made sure we were OK! This was definitely a plus in my book. He's very friendly, personable and told us about the rest of the restaurant: the comedy show that evening and the speakeasy. Unfortunately I had to take off. However this definitely gives us a reason to come back. The owner checked on us again once our food arrived. I really enjoyed my first experience here, from the man who opened the door, hostess, server to the owner. I will be returning & would love to try other items. I do recommend this establishment. The general manager told me to get the FUCK out when I told him how poor the food and service was. Then it was theft of service after I he'd already paid. I fail to see how when I paid for my food and drinks, and I have proof. What a bad manager that thinks this way. They offer a mediocre service at a premium rate. What a joke. My friends and I were looking for last minute Friday night plans when we happened upon TK's comedy night! There were still tickets available for their 7:30pm comedy show, so we bought those online and then went over. This is in the same parking lot as Blue Mesa, so finding parking is a little tight but they also have complimentary valet if you want to bring some change for tip. We went to the left behind the bar where the showroom is located. The whole restaurant is gorgeous and the showroom has both rows of seats as well as tables. Our show had a host, an opener, a feature act, and a headliner. We loved almost all of the acts but I highly recommend you try it out. A waitress will come by and give you a drinks menu, if you're pregnant like I was when we came in then you can pay ~$7 for a fun mocktail. Our waitress asked me for what kind of drinks I usually liked and gave that info to the bartender, who churned out a delicious drink that didn't let me feel like I was missing out! read more

I chose TK's as the venue to host my husband's birthday. A group of 11 of us were in attendance which included a lesbian couple, two gay couples and two straight couples, one of which are parents to a transgender son. While our sexual orientation should not play a role in a review, it's relevant here because the four people on stage had jokes on gay, lesbian and transgender. The lesbian jokes weren't funny and just made my guests uncomfortable. Straight people making fun of the LGBTQ community is no different than white people coming out in blackface - it's offensive. The venue itself is very spacious with several different large areas. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and everyone was very nice. The servers and bartenders were very professional except for a black bartender downstairs in the speakeasy, let's just say she wasn't the most polished gem. The venue includes a restaurant, beautiful bar, comedy hall or room, a large patio, and then there is a speakeasy downstairs. The food here is great. Large portions, great flavor and beautifully presented. I had a cosmo, a dirty martini and a vodka soda. The cosmo was too sweet, the martini was served in plastic which probably made it taste funny (if it wasn't the plastic, something was definitely off) and finally the vodka soda was good (hard to mess up a vodka soda). The decor is a cross between Z Gallery and Homegoods. Lots of feathers, balloons and bling reminds me of Juicy Couture. Overall, I gave it three stars because at the end of the evening my husband had a great time with our friends - but the uncomfortable seating in the speakeasy (specifically the bar stools), the martini served in plastic, the JUICY Couture decor and the offensive homophobic comedy - I'm Out. read more

I had a simple sit down dinner, did not attend the comedy show. Did not enter the speakeasy area. Positives: I went alone to dine, and they did give me a table so you may be able to get in without a reservation too. The dessert was great (chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream) the atmosphere was great and the staff was very nice and polite. I visited here last night for their comedy show and upon entering the establishment, I fell in love with the ambiance. It is gorgeous inside and the staff was pretty attentive and friendly. I met some girlfriends at the bar, but I did not order anything. The doors for the show opened at 7, and I made sure to get there at 7 as I wanted a good seat. I liked TK because almost every seat in there was a good seat. They have some areas that are elevated, but from what I could tell everyone's view is a good view. It's fairly dark in there, even before the actual show. We took this time to order drinks and food but had to use a flashlight to see the menu. They have a light on the table to get your waitress's attention which I loved. What I ordered: Espresso Martini - one had me feeling good. Fried mushrooms - super under-seasoned, but the presentation was A1. Salmon with veggies & mashed potatoes - This was a nice size piece of salmon and tasted pretty good. This had me curious about their brunch menu... They didn't have a drink minimum, the seats weren't overly close like some establishments. Overall, it was a great first-time experience. read more

We had a lovely time at Happy Hour tonight, and got the great pleasure of meeting the delightful TK himself! What they have done with the space is truly lovely -- excellent ambiance. And if you consider this is also a comedy place, never have I ever seen a comedy joint this visually spectacular! Their Happy Hour is a fantastic value, and there are loads of taps to choose from. I'm usually not a fan of "fluffy" pizza crusts, but if you're going to do that style, they nail it! The meatballs we soft, tender and tasty -- but I would recommend searving them in a vessel that can bathe them in more sauce (because the sauce is awesome). The chicken sliders? Whelp, they were the only disssppointment. Paper thing chicken, while crispy and solid in flavor, was overal flat because the slider lacked complexity or variety. I think if the slider had a good slaw, pickled pepper or onion, or even a juicy tomato -- then the sliders woud be interesting. As they were, it was very one-note and got lost in the evening. Very impressed with the menu and the food was really, really good. Plates designed and presented with pride. I ordered a Cesar salad and it may have been top 3 ever. The meatballs were delicious and I highly recommend the Nashville Sliders- big portions packed with flavor Service was polite, professional and fun! They cooked our food improperly and wanted to argue and instead of apologizing and correcting the order!!! Like who argues with a customer not once but twice the place was completely empty when we arrived and instead of going above and beyond; they wanted to go ahead and be rude!!! Our sever was probably the most apologetic person in the entire situation and the only one who knows about customer service. Regardless of everything the food was mediocre and wouldn't recommend to any of my friends/family or followers! They should relocate or rename and do a whole makeover on customer service if they want to stay in business in Dallas!!!! read more

Would NEVER recommend anyone going unless it was ONLY for the comedy club part. To start, we had a birthday reservation for a party of 6, we got seated at a table for four and the guy said well i guess we can push the table together and never push the tables together for us. Our service was the worst service I've EVER had for a "nice restaurant." We saw our service a total of 5 times after the fact that we had to keep asking people to get our server. Could not get refills on our water or alcohol beverages. The food runner spilt my ranch( no big deal) and brought us a new one and charged for a side of extra ranch.. what???? The $54 filet mignon was the worst anyone has ever had. Our server never came and asked how our food turned out so we had cold, terrible steaks sitting on our table waiting to be dealt with for 30 minutes. Now comes dessert. We had to ask for someone to get our server for us of course.. after 5 minutes he finally comes back. We say "do yall have a desert menu for us to look at" he responded smart and said "no we don't carry menus here" which can be funny (I guess?) if we had good service but to say that knowing you don't check on your table?? Absolutely ridiculous. The owner comes around and "helps" but NEVER apologized for the lack of service and the lack of food quality. This place is a joke for charging that much for the poor quality of the restaurant. read more

The vibes were good! The owner TK was very hospitable and involved. You can tell he has a passion for comedy and people! They were super busy tonight hosting a holiday part while the comedy club was still opened to the public and as soon as TK noticed my husband and I were having a little wait to get drinks ordered and pay for show tickets he was quick to step in and accommodate. We did not get to try the food as we ate before; but drinks were good and strong at $13 I only needed the one to relax and enjoy the show. I think this is the perfect spot for a date night. First time coming in, I was standing in the front after walking through the front doors, waiting on my friend, and within five seconds the host came to ask if I needed anything, and I let him know that I was waiting. Then within another minute the owner came up, shook my hand to walk him and introduce himself and to let him know if I needed anything. TK's has a LOT going on, and it's harder to rate it overall as a whole. So let's break it down then... overall I'm a 3.5! This is a comedy club + restaurant and bar + underground speak easy. The owners, TK and his wife, are comedians and typically are part of the show line up when they have comedy shows. Atmosphere: 5/5 - you really can pick your experience here. It's in the old Public School location with a great pond view and patio but nice interior decor. Then you have the comedy room which is a little small/tight but gives you the intimate show experience. And lastly the speakeasy underground... it's quaint, cute and cozy. Nice little night-cap location after dinner. Food: 3/5 - there are technically two different menus (restaurant menu and then comedy show menu). I've eaten in a show and at HH after work. I recommend ordering from the restaurant menu and have them bring it into the show area if you're there for comedy. Drinks: 2.5/5 - wine menu is not good. And during HH we sent back two drinks for being WAY too strong and over poured. It gave me college bar vibes where they think they are doing you a favor by making it strong but you really just want a well balanced drink. Service: 3/5 - IN the comedy show is very slow.
