I'm so so so glad I found TK Hair Studio! I moved from NYC earlier this year and of course needed to find new professionals for everything. I came here for a cut in August after much research (~40 hair salons Yelp & Google reviews) because I desperately needed my hair thinned out and trimmed. I've been scarred with how people can mess it up by overthinning my hair so I made sure to look at tons of photos and read reviews of places. Asian hair can be difficult to cut so I'm really picky. He is meticulous and very detailed when he was thinning my hair and trimmed it well, not too blunt or shaggy at the bottom. I am extremely particular with my hair, but I was really happy with it! I also give it a couple washes to see how I feel about it before deciding whether I'd go back or not. I'd definitely return! Also, my hairstylist in NYC who colored my hair when I visited last month said it was cut well too. If you don't believe me, believe in other hair professionals who know their stuff! Pay in cash & get a discount, tip well! There's also a punch card for returning clients which is nice. I live out in West LA but was thinking about how I probably need a cut soon and need to drive out here to come to TK! There is parking validation for the parking structure to the left right after you pass the location. Once you get to the location, you dial his suite number on the keypad to the right by looking up TK Hair Studio to get buzzed in. Lastly, there are restrooms, and there is a machine at the front to validate parking. These are individual salon suites, everything is very clean. Take is amazing and I could not recommend him more for hair bleaching/color/ombré/balayage. I naturally have very dark brown hair and was scared to lighten my hair but I trusted him. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he gave great advice on the lightening (to not damage my hair too much). He made my hair look almost exactly as I had shown him in the picture -- but even better! I absolutely love the result and definitely see myself going back in the future. My hair is actually healthier than I thought it would be after all of the bleaching and the color is beautiful. I'm very happy about my hair and cannot wait to go back in the future! I'm picky on choosing my hairstylist. This is so far the best hair stylist I've met. Mr. Take san is such a cute and sweet guy. Before he starts the haircut, he would first give you some Japanese and America hair style books to look and you can choose the style you would like to be cut. It's my first time at TK studio. Excellent experience. I called on a Monday - their day off, yet Take-san responded immediately and scheduled me for the next day. TK studio is one of the independent studios inside Regency Salon. The interior is clean, comfy and most importantly, private - away from the outside noise and craziness. Take-san is a real professional. He listens attentively and offers his opinions and knowledge as well. Eventually he gave me the exact change-over that I asked for - keeping the roots my natural hair color so I don't need to do touch up every so often, a smooth transition to dark brown as a base color, and a purple highlights on my existing bleached hair. This is so far the best hair salon experience I had. Not only because of the service, the environment, but also for the reasonable price you pay. Take-san is a man of great manner and skill. I've been going to Take for years now, starting from when he was still working at KC Salon in Little Tokyo then when he moved to KC Pasadena then KC Arcadia, and now to Pasadena with his own studio. He's meticulous and great at what he does, which is why I keep coming back to him for my hair. Often times I come in without thinking of any particular style so I would just look at magazines or ask him for advice and the result would come out great! Mind you, my hair is super thick so it's sometimes hard to find a haircut that works (it needs a lot of thinning down/layers underneath). My sister goes to him, too, for her hair and I've recommended him to my other friends as well. His new studio is quite chic, clean and in a nice place with other beauty studios so you can hop from one place to another for your hair, brows, lashes, facial, nails, etc. There's parking (entrance on Hudson St) for the salon with 2 hours free with validation. Validation is easy - just use their machine by the door and you're good to go. read more
