I have visited TJ Maxx in San Clemente store and never has an issue. My experience with one of the store manager, whom I believe is named Sofia/ Soffe?, was extremely disappointing. She was unfriendly, dismissive, and unprofessional. Instead of helping resolve a simple customer service issue, she made the situation more stressful with poor communication and an unpleasant attitude. I felt that she lacked the customer service and leadership skills expected of someone in a management position. I rarely file complaints about employees, but this experience was upsetting enough that I felt it was important to speak up. I sincerely hope TJ Maxx reviews the management at this location and takes appropriate action to improve the customer experience. read more

I love that you can find literally anything you're looking for at TJ Maxx, with lots of unique items to browse through. I especially loved their Valentine's Day selections--so many cute mugs and a great variety of makeup! However, the store can feel a bit over-stimulating. The bright lights, small aisles, and loud music make it a little overwhelming to shop comfortably. If you're up for the hunt, it's worth a visit, but be prepared for a sensory overload. One last thing to note is that the security alarm was broken or something and was going off with each person walking out. That was very overwhelming and irritating. read more

Prepping for an trip can often find someone do last minute shopping. Even at the 11th hour. I am no exception. The forever procrastinator , I will never change my ways. I found myself here looking for a cute outfit and packing cubes. This location is upscale, clean, and has a great selection of luggage and accessories. Unfortunately, the sizes for plus size is limited and often hard to find and scattered. Judith was the MVP for me today and was able to assist me with great customer service but also great life advice. Come for the goods, leave with a heart filled with joy. 10/10 read more

Hair more professional sales person I waited half day to return a earring and she was giving me a hard time

I have shopped at TJ maxx for years and I work in the area and have never been to this one so I thought I would give it a shot because shopping is my therapy. Well, I guess beware at spending to much time in the store and browsing the clearance and or the whole store for 1hr and 30minutes because then you will have multiple people follow you around the store till you pay and leave. Oh and by the way I spent over $60 here today and the cashier was the only pleasant part about this trip and she forgot to charge me for one of the items so I went back in and had them charge me for it to then still get treated like garbage. I will not be shopping at any TJ Maxx stores anymore. And your so called store associates should learn real asset protection skills because they are lacking the secrecy part of it. read more

Last month, bought a hair product for $13. I was on a trip and later that day when I arrived in Santa Barbara, I realized the checker had forgotten to put it in the bag with my other purchases. I called the store and spoke with Sylvia, a manager. After verifying that they had my product, she told me to come back to get it. I explained to her that I live out of state and was on vacation when shopping at their store. She said there was nothing she could do and to just come back and get it. I told her I had just driven three plus hours in traffic to get to Santa Barbara where I was staying for a few days and from there, drive another ten hours to home. Basically she told me too bad. So I asked to speak to another manager and I spoke with Araceli and told her the same story over again. She gave me the same reply, there is nothing they can do. I told her it was a good thing that the clerk hadn't forgot to put my $49 dress in the bag. I know it's only $13, but it is the principal. Their mistake and I'm out $13 because there is 'nothing they can do". That is not true as when I got home, I spoke to my manager/acquaintance at the Marshalls where I live and she told me they could have shipped it to me. At any rate when visiting that area of OC, I will never go back to this store due to the inability of the managers to make a customer happy and to do the right thing! Shame on them. read more

There are a lot of negative reviews about this store, but please take into consideration that many of the comments are about the company's policies, not this store or location. This store and location is 5 stars as far as the brand goes. I have visited many locations in both CA and other states and while I consider this location small and in some ways the selection limiting I also recognize that the real estate is about a mile from one of the world's most treasured coast lines. I wish I had a photo to attach to thank the two clerks at TJ Maxx in San Clemente. I noticed they were raising funds for autism. This cause is so close to my heart. Autism Speaks has made the impossible possible for so many friends and members of my family. When I got to the checkout the clerk and manager were so kind and spoke to me about what they were doing and then rang a cowbell throughout the store when I donated. I committed to coming back and buying more in the next two weeks. Ya know - we have so many huge companies in this country. Just think how much better off we all would be if some of those companies followed in TJMaxx's footsteps and occasionally used their position to help better life for people in their community. I went to shop with my mom and her friend. We purchased many items there was a great selection everything was going so well until we checked out. the Cashier Melanie was working so slow and it looked like she was doing It on purpose. They had a long line so I thought maybe she would speed up a little bit. Mind you we were in no rush but I have never seen anyone work this slow in my life. You can tell she hates being there I honestly don't know how she even has this job. Specially to be working on the register. This is so bad for customers and it hurts their business and its a shame because I know Melanie could care less about her job. the customers that were behind us looked so annoyed and some even left their things and got out of the line. There were two other people working the registers and they weren't moving this slow. I am not exaggerating when I say she was. The manager can check the cameras to see and confirm that I am saying is the truth. I called the store and asked to speak to the manager about this but they keep telling me that the manager is not available. You can also see that other customers have left reviews and talking about the same employee its a shame that she is still working there specially since several customers have complained. read more

THE WORST STORE MANAGER customer service! Today is their grand opening. I enjoyed the store and selected a lot of activewear items to purchase. I found 3 exact same style Hurley long sleeved dry-fit shirts. One had a price tag of $9.99 and the other two had $24.99. The $9.99 wasn't a return, it had the same original tags as the other two, just tagged at $9.99. I took all three up to the counter to buy and asked if I could get the other two for $9.99 each as well. The woman manager behind the counter was rude and rolled her eyes at me and snapped out to another person to go do a price check. The young male clerk who rug up my other items was very sweet and professional as we waited to find out. The nasty woman manager came back up and said "No the price is $24.99, this one was tagged wrong and rips it off and I said "Wait I want that one for $9.99 and I don't want the other two since they're $24.99" She again snapped at me and said "You can't have it at that price. We mistagged it and reserve the right to price adjust our merchandise!" I said "Wow! Really? It was tagged $9.99. You can tell it was your doing and you're not going to honor it, even though you say you're at fault?" She said "Nope" and walked away. I was originally very excited to have this store open here in San Clemente. I love shopping at TJ Maxx but I will NEVER be a return customer to the San Clemente location. I'd give this TJ Maxx zero if I could. Not helpful at all. The manager Ruth is awful. Had a blow dryer that I bought 6 months ago and I use maybe once a week so that's about 20 times. The blow dryer just shut off. It's obviously defective but they won't return, has to be returned within 30 days. If it broke within 30 days it'd really be a piece of crap. Go to a different store this ones awful and non helpful. Ruth you need to learn customer service skills. You suck. Don't shop here there stuff is junk and you're stuck with it. read more

This is a review of the employees and the stores policies. I had purchased bedding at a TJ Maxx Home Goods store in Aliso Viejo. I was returning it and the cashier told me they couldn't except it because it was purchased at a Home Goods store. The receipt says TJ Maxx at the top. He said he knew that but the stickers on the merchandise were different. So I asked oh do you not sell the SAME bedding? Yeah we do. Ok great, can I talk to a manager? *rolls eyes* sure, but he's going to tell you the same thing. He calls his manager over. STORE NEEDS ANOTHER STORE MANAGER. It's very difficult to write a negative review on TJ Maxx when it seams I'm in a TJ Maxx or Homegoods a few times a month and I love finding good deals there. But I just have to, especially when it's my neighborhood TJ Maxx. I was so excited when they opened, I was at the grand opening at 8:30 am on a weekend :) One of the store managers, Michelle, has zero customer service skills. The customer ahead of me at the register had a question about how something was marked down. The store manager skills drove the customer out of the store leaving behind a cart full of merchandise without buying any of it. Then it was my turn. I had a purchase and a return and had a question. Her skills almost had me leave the dress I was buying.
