Located in the same shopping Center as Big 5 and next door to Costco, Dollar tree has something for everyone. Today, i was on the hunt for some coloring books and art stuff to gift to a few kids who i had never met but knew loved art. I was in the area, on a time crunch and decided to check it out. Jackpot! I found a variety of coloring books, coloring pencils , from anime, marvel, to more advanced art for adults to help with ADHD, Concentration, and stress relief. I bought a bunch of genres and to my surprise, it was a huge hit with the 8-10 year old boys and their parents. Score! Their return policy is great too! Forget Party City! If you need party supplies you have to go to Dollar Tree! It is true that the selection isn't as large as what you would find at Party City, but the prices are not as large either ... everything is .... one dollar!!! Plates, napkins, invitations, table coverings, decorations, party favors, wrapping, gift bags, games, cups (even clear tumblers), if you're looking for it ... they probably have it. They also have a great selection of storage supplies. You know ... all those baskets, boxes and containers of different sizes that you find in different sections of Target, Wal-Mart, even the market or Costco for various prizes. Well, you can find them here. No matter what size your looking for ... they're all one dollar. Another good thing to find here is office supplies (or school supplies depending on the time of the year). I just stalked up on all kinds of school supplies. I lucked into some dry eraser marker 4-packs. I picked up one and brought it home to try it out because I was skeptical. These things cost at least $3 to $4 at the office store. I will admit that the ink marks weren't the darkest and they may not last as long as they name brand. But to pay $0.25 for a dry erase marker rather than $1 - I'll give it a try. In the back of this store is a large frozen food case. I couldn't bring myself to look at what might be inside ... there could have been frozen dessert items (which might have been fine). Or, there could have been food (maybe veggies could have been acceptable). Other than that I'm not sure what I'd be comfortable buying for $1 - so I just didn't look. There are cleaning supplies, plastic sandwich bags, glassware, plastic cups, and plates, personal care items (like bandages, toothpaste, ointments, nail polish ... stuff like that). Basically .. there is a whole lot of everything, but it changes all the time so don't count on something specific being there if you make a second trip. Oh ... and by Dan Point rule... they don't provide free bags. So bring your own. By a reusable one (really nice quality for ... $1) or get a plastic one for $0.05. read more

I have shopped at Dollar Tree before. This time I wanted to purchase Crush Pineapple Singles, and was told that my local store didn't carry them any more but that I could order online, which I did on August 23. On September 4th I received an email advising me that my order was ready to be picked up, so I got in my car and drove there, only to find that the manager that day couldn't find my order anywhere, and advised me to come back a couple of days later. I went back AGAIN today, hoping that my order would be there. Umm Umm, no, once again I was told that they couldn't find it. Disgraceful way to run a business. Dollar Tree, instead of me paying first and having to pick up an item that is NOT THERE, you should arrange to mail the item to the customer (ME) yourself. I will never, ever purchase one of your items online again. It's costing me gas money to keep doing a round trip. read more

Had to pickup some cheap supplies and was near this Dollar Tree, so I decided to check it out. I was really impressed! Everything was organized, the staff was friendly, the size of the location was huge (like 3 times the size of most of the locations in the bay area), and even had items not found at other locations like the frozen food section. Sadly I walked out with the previous customers bag of purchases TONIGHT and did not realize till I got home. Truly she should have moved her bag to either a closed check out station or perhaps kept it with her. The 99¢ Only Store in San Clemente is categorically better. If there is any reason to recommend this place, It's a guy named Patrick. Despite the fact that this company would be better run by government workers (DMV etc.) He's working hard to make it work. If he's not the manager, he should be!!! I love Dollar Tree because everything is brand new for only a dollar. The store is very clean and organized, and it doesn't take long to get through the check-out line. They don't have the biggest selection of frozen food items, but none of it's freezer-burned and it's always fresh. This store doesn't have as large of a selection as The 99Cents Only Store, but it's better than Big Lots. The cashiers are nice, they accept EBT, and everything is easy to find. The only reason this didn't get five stars is because the parking lot it's located in is a huge nightmare getting in, out, and finding a parking spot. But it's worth the stress for the awesome deals. read more

Look, I don't expect much from Dollar Tree. You go in when you need to get some quick cheap batteries or candles or snacks or whatever, but this place needs a little work. First off, they were closed for like 3 months at one point cuz they kept having some water damage issues. Now that's not necessarily their fault, but it seems to be a sort of overall pattern of neglect with this place. They always run out of stock and takes forever to refill, and they always close like 30 min early(depending on who's working). Sometimes I don't get home till like 8 or 9, so I try and rush over to get some last minute thing and I get there with like 25 min to spare and they've either closed the doors already or are literally screaming at the customers over the loud speaker to hurry up so they can go home early. I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous and pisses me off. I think I'm just gonna drive a few extra miles to the 99 cents store off Pico from now on. It's WAY better. read more

Out of the 3 in south county this one is the best location for inventory. It's larger and has more frozen variety and inventory. Best set up/layout and biggest parking lot. Plus better hours! I do like the employees at the alicia one by the fwy but it's smaller and the inventory is always out of stock for certain items over there so when I can I make the trip to this one. :-) everything's 1$ legit:-) read more

Today I was at this store. The guy who helped me was so rude he didn't look at me or say hi so I waited patiently because I understand people have bad days but when I have 6 items and at the end you ask if I want a bag of course I want a bag I'm 7 months pregnant and I am a very nice person and for the manager Patrick to treat me this way is unacceptable I am very understanding person. What bother me the most was the he said hi to the older lady in front of me and said hi to the lady behind me. This store is great but they started charging for plastic bags. So I stopped going, its a dollar store everything is supposed to be cheap. When you get to the register they charge you for bags. OK, it's with a heavy heart I update my glowing review from about a year ago. This store has declined sharply in quality, inventory and cleanliness since it re-opened after several months of clean up after flood damage. The shelves are nearly empty and when I asked someone who appeared to be a person of authority, his response was the inventory disappears off the shelves as soon as they stock it. I call BS on that. Many times I've gone in to look for what I usually buy there and it's not on the shelf. Also, after the flood damage, they replaced the carpeted floor with vinyl flooring. It's filthy and in dire need of a mop. I keep returning to this store, because it's located next door to Smart and Final, where I also shop, and come away disappointed. I'm not crazy about the 99 cent store in San Clemente, but often have better luck there. read more

I don't typically review stores, but I would like to recognize Brooke from the Doheny location. On a recent visit she helped me with a large balloon purchase for a party we were holding the next day. She was a great in helping me choose the appropriate balloons for the occasion. Great smile and bubbly personality. I have to agree the Dollar Tree has declined after it reopened. I was in there with 5 minutes before it closed. There was an announcement over the speaker saying we have 5 minutes and they close at 9pm EXACTLY. The manager must have said EXACTLY about 10 times. The registers will close at exactly 9pm. I was done and ready to pay when they made the announcement. I should have just dropped my stuff off in the middle of aisle (store was messy) and walked out. Instead I paid and told the cashier tell the manager "we are leaving the store exactly and it is not exactly 9pm yet." I thought that was so rude to make the announcement meant like that. I'm not an idiot and I know when they say I have 5 minutes it's time to pay. I think I'll drive that extra few miles and go to the San Juan store and avoid this one from now on. read more
