I feel somewhat bad to give a negative review because I truly believe that this location is severely understaffed and everyone is trying their best. Plus, I'm not sure the employees actually have that much control, since I'm sure most of their direction comes from corporate. However, my first impression today was the bathrooms! Wow....truly disgusting! They have two gender neutral private bathrooms and both were nasty. One was much worse than the other and not pictured. The one I used was worse than a port-o-potty in all honesty and there were no seat covers or paper towels. The second thing is that the products are so jammed together and the isles are so tight they barely fit a cart, yet alone multiple people. They do have some great products, but too much and very over stimulating. Finally, the music was so loud and the store was hot. I really dislike having to listen to ads for a store that I'm already shopping in and being asked to sign up for their credit card each time, even after hearing ads and seeing signs. I think it's time Marshalls gets updated! read more

To give this store a chance because it's right around the corner from my house every single time I go in there there's one or two cashiers and a line wrapped around it. It's ridiculous and it's really stupid business because. Allows people to think twice about their purchases. I've seen many people just put things down while they're in line bad move. I wasn't planning on going to Marshall's on my day trip to San Juan Capistrano. However, I discovered this location when I went to Target. So I said to myself why not. I looked through the clothes didn't see anything. That said wow I really love this or I must have this. As I, walked around the store. I came across a battery power brick. Earlier I was thinking I need one that has more power than my 7000 wireless power brick. During my visit in this town I was using my phone a lot and thinking I need to get a more powerful power brick. Who would have guessed I would come across one at Marshall's. It goes to show you never know what gem you come across. Like most Marshalls locations, the San Juan Capistrano store offers a bit of a treasure hunt. The selection here, as with any Marshalls, can vary quite a bit -- both in products and prices -- so it really depends on the day you visit. There's not much that sets this location apart, but it's clean, organized enough, and worth checking out if you're in the area and in the mood to browse. This location has one of the best inventory when it comes to Men's and Women's clothing. Especially their Clearance section. I give props to the sales associates for being on top of pricing items accordingly with each mark down. The neatness does not go unnoticed! The store was also relatively clean and organized for a Saturday evening. There was some overflow by the pet section where people just left the dog beds sprawled out on the floor instead of putting them back on the shelves. I blame the shoppers not the associates on that one. Overall, the clearance section is one of the best I've seen. Lots of clothing items under $10-$20! read more

Tried to return a shirt that didn't fit. It had been purchased at the Laguna Hills store. The manager, Daniel V., said he "couldn't verify purchase because it wasn't in their system." He refused to try to contact the other store claiming that "they never answer their phone." He'd rather send a customer on a wild goose chase to another store than pick up the phone. Checkout lines are almost always LONGGGGGGGGGG! I like shopping at Marshall's.... but the San Juan Marshalls is not run well. It has lots of Managers walking around the store...but not helping anyone. The Cue will many times be into the store and you will only have two cashiers but 5-6 employees and managers walking around the store.. stocking shelves but If you ask if they are going to open another line it's always the same response from the manager. "We are short handed" or "We had people call out sick". They rarely will jump on a line like you see at other Marshalls and tj maxxs. They need new management read more

5 employees working the cash register including the manager. Only 2 of them are operating registers and there are 20 customers in line. If they move any slower they will be going backwards! Average customer transaction time is 12 minutes. Like it really takes 12 minutes to ring up someone buying a pair of discounted panties and a shirt. Get it together Marshall! Majority of their items are broken, cracked or terribly scratched up. Terribly selection of items. You're better off going to target or Nordstrom rack. Really messy. I got yelled at by the staff for trying to bring the cart out of the store after I made my purchase. What's the point in having carts if you can't even bring them to the parking lot to load up your car? The lady standing in the front doing nothing really set the mood when there were 6 people waiting in line. Standing there standing all the customers down when we are in line to pay, looking at us like we are shop lifters. I've been here three times and every time this lady is just standing there observing not even offering to open another check stand to help customers. I come to this Marshall's from time to time. My dogs groomer is down the street so I come here to waste an hour. But of course wasting time turns into shopping every single time. This location is very convenient with plenty of parking. The staff are very helpful and professional. If you know your brands and prices, you can always find great deals. Along with the famous brands, there are cheaply made items as well. It's just one of those places that you have to take your time and find treasures. It's equally good to find outfits, as it is to find decorating goods for the home. They keep the store clean and well organized. read more

We purchased a donut print stuffed pillow on August 8th. As soon as we discovered two locations where it has cuts. We brought back to the store with receipt immediately. Since we've planned on keeping the item，we had took out the price tag. While in he store，we were told its not returnable since it has no price tag，even we have the original receipt. When I moved to CA this place used to be decent, however, on my recent trip I thought I stepped into Ross, as the quality and merchandise is no longer what other Marshall's/TJ MAxx stores offer. Visiting family for the long weekend from beautiful Dallas Texas and wanted to find some Halloween gifts to bring back to family and this place does not know what proper customer service is really like. If I had the option to give this place a 0 out of 5 stars I really would. When I inquired about this ceramic pumpkin I saw on display it had minor cracks & oil damage/stains the staff and manager are trained to talk back at you and argue that you are wrong and they are right especially the fake manager on duty (after telling them I'll reach out to corporate she was able to finally bring out the real manager to discuss a final resolution) the resultion was a joke $1.99 discount for something you'd find at a garage junkyard sale. One thing that surprised me was the attitude when I asked if the scratches & wear are normal they said " yes it's normal it's cause it's Halloween the manufacturer made it seem a little damaged") yeah I've been in the home design and I know the difference if it's manufactured or damaged. After leaving I decided to head down to the .99 cent store and saw the same stuff not only in better condition but price was even better. The fake manager on duty acting like a cockroach knew she was in the wrong and kept trying to hide as I was talking with the manager on duty. I think her name is Reyna. So thank you for making a good impression on a city I grew up in and no wonder businesses like these are going bancarotta in California it's sad to see someone not to have pride in providing great service in a customer service oriented business. It's not the best shopping experience, but I found some good deals here. Sometimes it's worth it to look for bargains and elbow your way to one part of the store to another. Sometimes, I just leave when it looks like a friggin' mad house. Shopping isn't my thing and crowds definitely do not make me happy. I don't really shop at Marshall's all that much and don't have any other location to compare it to, but I thought it was a big store. It has a decent selection of stuff that are neat to have or give to someone. I came here to shop for Christmas gifts last year and again for other people's birthdays. I also ended up getting myself some stuff. Overall, it's a great place to shop for gifts. There are lots of clothes, but I think most of it are low quality with a few brand names that are good quality thrown in. I think it's worth it to check out their sports gear. You'll have to look for the good, quality brands to get a good deal. I found an Adidas crossfit tank here that I use every week. I found some great stuff for my dog here too. Also bought a few brand name sports bras and some house decor. I also looked at their bags and accessories before. Some brand names I remember seeing were Calvin Klein, Abercrombie & Fitch, Tommy Hilfiger, Jessica Simpson, Gucci, Juicy Couture, etc. Pros: - Some brand name products for a lower price. - Some good quality products if you can sort through all the crap. - Some cool, random stuff to buy as gifts. - Most cashiers are friendly. They usually have a few cashiers during their busy hours. - Someone's always trying to organize the chaos in the clothes rack, even if they don't hide their bitterness about it. They look really unhappy usually, which I think is understandable. - They have shoes, clothes, kitchen stuff, some edible gift products, makeup, gym stuff, kids toys and clothes, furniture, home decor, dog stuff, electronics, art, paper products, candles, bath stuff, snacks, and random gift items. Cons: - There's a rent-a-cop at the door. Wow, I didn't know I was at the ghetto part of the city. - Speaking of ghetto, some of their employees sure act like we're in the ghetto. Rude, bad manners, terrible customer service. - I tried a piece of clothing once. I was ignored by the employee at the dressing room for a few minutes while she busied herself with empty hangers. Then she gave me attitude that I had too many clothes to try on (about 7 pieces of clothes). Dressing room was dirty and unkempt, I felt like I had to take a shower asap. I don't know if some homeless people sleep in there. It's that bad. - Some of the customers here are also shady. I had someone take stuff from my cart in front of me and another lady was literally taking stuff off my hands while I looked at some clothes. Not my favorite place to go for sure. I just try to go early on a weekday so I don't have to deal with so many people. Overall, if this place is close to you and you don't want to drive too far, this place might be worth it to get brand name stuff. I've seen a few dollar stores better managed and better maintained with better employees who aren't disgruntled. Sure, you could go home with a lot of goodies from this place. HOWEVER, changing my 6 month old on their dirty bathroom floor because there is no changing table in either bathroom is disgusting. Forgot my cash in the car, I left my running shoes up front, they moved my shoes to the very front part of the lines, and she was snippy and sharp with me because I didn't want to get back in a non existent line for my shoes. I have shopped at this Marshalls in SJC for over years. The selection is good but in recent years (especially with the tall male employee with curly blondish-reddish hair) there is a push for their lame credit card. The employees there are a turnoff. So much so that I realize how much I like online shopping and don't have to deal with the crazies. The limit on the pieces you can bring in to a dressing room is less than ideal. I'd rather shop at TJ Maxx in San Clemente or Nordstrom Online or the Rack. It's gross there because the clothes have lipstick stains, deodorant stains. I don't often find myself in a Marshalls, but today we were out looking for a newsboy cap for a costume and couldn't find it ANYWHERE. We searched Walmart, thrift stores, etc but Marshalls had the goods. This store had a large selection of women's clothing. I was too distracted to check out everything they had in stock, but a quick breeze through had me thinking I should drop in when I have more time. Seems like one of the nicer Marshalls stores. I've heard people who like Marshalls swear by this location in particular, now I have a better sense of why.
