I have really tried to like TJ Maxx. It is not just one particular store, but all of them. The…read morestores are typically neat and structured, but the merchandise does not really appeal to me. Unlike Marshall's, I am rarely ever able to find anything in TJ Maxx. It is the rare occasion that I will stop by and find an item or two, but it is never where I find an abundance of any one thing. I have perused a number of sections from beauty to household goods and the beauty section is where I typically find good stuff. For this reason, I stopped by today because I have found that if Marshall's does not have the hair styling products that I like, it is a great chance that I will find it at TJ Maxx. Well, I went to this store yesterday looking specifically for hair products and was able to find quite a bit and the brands that I like. I walked into the store, located what I was looking for and went directly to the checkout line. I really like how structured this visit went, which was a far cry from my usual pop-ins to see if I find anything. Those visits always leave me disappointed.

These friends, despite having been vaccinated for some time, are still skittish eating indoors and had reserved a lot of outdoor tables. Unfortunately, April weather didn't care that we were trying to social distance. I was freezing my toes off the first night we were in town and had dinner outside. The next day I knew I had to get to a store and buy more acceptable clothing for eating outside. A few of us ubered to Marshall's. Initially I was worried because Marshall's had cleared almost all of their cold weather clothes and shoes away. My initial recon didn't yield much in the way of options. Fortunately, a deeper dive allowed me to discover some fancy-ish joggers and a high necked top that would provide more warmth than anything I'd packed. All told, my total $$$ spent was $48 and that included the Uber. Glad that Marshall's is a staple in most cities and towns. It comes in super handy!

There is only one entrance/exit, the other/second (normal) entry/exit door is closed. For this reason, common sense should say that employees that want to smoke should do so at the door that is NOT being used. In this day and time, why on earth would you smoke at/near the door where people MUST enter and exit. It's bad enough we have to walk through your smoke, but during an airborne pandemic?!?! I think not!! Safety first, you sanitize the carts and have hand sanitizer everywhere and social distancing signs and such...but you have employee blowing smoke and "droplets" directly where patrons have to enter?!?! I spoke with the manager "Lisa" who advised that the suggestion made sense and that she would speak with the employees about it.

I walk in and place was dimly lit... its was like 11am one Saturday morning. The store was a hot mess.. no sense of organization. Floors were cluttered and dirty. Who knows when the floor saw a mop. I love that over the years they have increased their size and offerings. There is a customer service person who has been there probably as long as the store has been open, but at least for the last 15 years. Anytime I go to customer service and she's there, she recognizes me right away and says "hey sugar how are you doing? She even asks me about my special needs son because she met him 15 years ago after he stole something and I made him take it back and apologize. She was incredible! I would love to work here but I would wind up spending my entire paycheck so it's not worth it. LOL

I appreciate that it was easy to access dog food this time around. Grabbed the items I came for and then went to check out. This is when it got really frustrating and disappointing - there were 2 registers open for 16-18 people waiting to check out. Self check out wasn't open and in recent months has been limited to 10 items, which is annoying. I opted for Walmart instead this past Saturday - it opens earlier than Target and had no waiting to check out.
