I asked for an estimate and info about their fees, they refused to give me numbers and only mentioned their $99 dispatch fee. Once their technician arrived at my house and before touching or seeing anything, he requested an additional $577 for the basic diagnosis he needs to do to give me an estimate for the repair. This information was never revealed before his visit. You can image why. So basically, you pay $676 just to get an estimate for how much the repair will cost. On top of that, their technician kept asking me personal question about my ethnicity, nationality, among other things that made me feel uncomfortable. I avoided answering him and changed the subject, yet he insisted and kept repeating his personal questions. I highly recommend hiring another company. I'm writing the review I wish I had seen before hiring them.

A Monday in August, year one of the pandemic…read more The place sells mostly to electricians, but the guy was very helpful and patient with this do-it-yourself guy. Employees showed 100% mask cooperation, and used lots of hand sanitizer. I went here to buy electrical supplies for a fancy shed I'm building. I had previously researched what I would need to run power to the structure, and it looked like I had a choice of PVC plastic conduit, buried two feet (61 cm) deep, or galvanized rigid conduit, buried six inches (15 cm) deep. The steel costs more and is harder to deal with, but the effort saved digging the much shallower trench will likely more than make up for it. Still, I didn't exactly know what to buy, so I went to a real store instead of trying to buy on-line. I had measured the distances the conduit needed to cover: about two feet (61 cm) from the connector box on the wall of the cellar to the ground, about four feet (122 cm) from the house to the structure, and about eight feet (244 cm) from the ground to the connector box in the structure (three feet from the ground to floor of the structure, and five feet to the connector box). My first question for the sales guy was the radius of the angle pieces (about eight inches, or 20 cm). Then the sales guy guided me through the additional matter of connecting the pieces together. The straight segments of conduit are ten feet (305 cm) long, and have threaded pieces on the ends that connect to the angle pieces. But because the straight segments will need to be cut, the cut ends will need compression fittings: one each where the vertical segments connect to the boxes, and one more where the cut end of the horizontal segment attaches to an angle piece. Those fittings include things to attach to the boxes, which I don't need on the horizontal segment. Another problem is cutting the conduit. It's tough stuff. Cutting it with the Dremel would require a lot of patience, and probably consume several cut-off wheels. I don't have a heavy duty saw like a Sawzall. Even if I got metal-cutting blades for my jigsaw, it's on its last legs. That leaves me with a hacksaw. The store only sold hacksaw blades in ten packs, but they weren't outrageously expensive, and each cut would probably wear down a blade. Rather than search for cheaper blades, I got a pack. I found the sales assistance quite useful. It was enough to assemble the conduit correctly, and I only broke one compression fitting. My boy came along on the shopping expedition out of curiosity. To keep him amused, the sales guy gave him a complimentary, kid-size hardhat with the store's logo printed on it. He was delighted. I drafted most of this back when "year one of the pandemic" was just "the year of the pandemic". I was back recently, looking for lamp parts; lamps are electric, right? No luck; that's not their kind of electric stuff. I also asked about circuit breakers. Also not their thing. The cashier did at least suggest Seattle Lighting for the lamp parts. I thought they deserved four stars ("Yay, I'm a fan!") for the conduit visit. I was disappointed with them last week, but I'm not going to count it against good service on things they do sell.

I called at least 6 different electricians. Majority I couldn't understand, or they asked me things I just had said to them and/or didn't seem to want to really take any time to listen. One I called, lots of noise in the background. They quoted me $99 just to come out and then they would price quote me. Even stating what I had said to Meadow and that I would buy both. After knowing I wasn't going to use them, I mentioned the noise, and he said he was at a bar having a beer. Found ANM were well worth the price Meadow quoted. Really, these are the people. Once I got everything, Meadow got me in the books right away. Nicholas was to be here at 7:30 am. Loved that he texted he was running 15 mins late. He was really nice and knowledgeable. To my surprise, he was saying goodbye, and I said wait who do I pay? They are sending invoice in the mail. Who does that? :-) Absolutely nothing bad to say. Will wait til I get the invoice but pretty sure I know what it will be per Meadows and mine's conversation. Update: I did get the invoice. Close to $100 more than I thought. Dropping a star.

I had received a text from As You Wish regarding a special for an A/C Tuneup that turned out to be…read moreso much more than I expected. I contacted them to set up an appointment. Tessa, at the office, texted me to confirm my appointment time and included a photo of Rich, my service technician. Rich was fantastic. He showed up on time, was extremely knowledgeable and very communicative. As expected, after his very comprehensive inspection and testing of my Furnace and A/C some serious issues were found. The 20 year old furnace had a crack in the heat exchanger, which Rich showed me on his camera. The 30 year old A/C had lost a significant amount of its effectiveness to cool my home and was wasting a lot of energy. Rich was there almost 2 hours and I got all this at an amazing special price of $29! He asked me if I wanted someone to come out and give me a free estimate to replace my furnace and A/C, and had the office schedule someone to come out when I returned from my upcoming trip. Two weeks later Dan Severt showed up on time to take measurements and collect the information needed to properly size the new systems I needed and provided me with a detailed estimate. He explained my options, explained the installation process, and covered possible financing options. As it was possible for me to get a loan through GreenSky to make monthly payments with no penalty for early payoff and no interest if paid in full within 18 months, I decided to proceed. Dan called the office to schedule the install for me and got me started with the GreenSky loan process. A short while later, Tessa texted me information about my install to begin the very next day. Later Tessa sent me a text to confirm my appointment and included photos of the technicians that would be coming. Next day she texted me that they were on their way and included a tracking link so I could monitor their progress. Technicians Obet and Cody arrived to begin the installation. As is usually the case with 40+ year old homes, and today's updated building codes and newer, more complicated "smart" systems, a few issues popped up. At all times the guys kept me informed of the issues, explained what my options were, and then executed the necessary workarounds. Dan also made himself available to come by personally to see the issues for himself and answer any questions I had and offer advice when asked. A short while later, a highly experienced Carlos arrived to assist the guys with problem resolution. They guys worked really hard from 9am to 10pm in order to complete their job for the electrician coming the next day. They cleaned up the job site and hauled away the old units. Meanwhile, back at the office, Sarah who had processed the necessary permit(s) texted me that she had made arrangements for the two required inspections, one for the electrical work and the other for Snohomish County building code adherence. She informed me that those two entities would reach out to me to set things up. Later I received a text that the electrician, Fredo, would arrive early the next morning. Fredo showed up on time and completed the electrical work in time for Benjamin to arrive. Benjamin completed a checkout, testing and startup of the system and demonstrated how to program the new smart thermostat. All worked perfectly. Without exception, everyone involved was timely, possessed excellent communication skills, was organized and highly skilled at their respective jobs. All of them were positive and courteous and respectful of me and my property. This was, by far, one of the best experiences I've ever had in a job requiring skilled labor! Kudos to As You Wish for having quality people and using quality suppliers for their HVAC systems! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to invest in updating their systems, or in having them inspect and service their existing equipment. Ordinarily I would have sought out multiple estimates before hiring someone to do such a big job. I have no idea how the cost for As You Wish to do this job compares to the numerous other competitors in this sector, but I'm kind of glad I didn't.
