Long story but will keep it brief. We bought a new home in October 2016 in which the builder completed with Budget Blinds ("BB"). One of the larger blinds in our master bedroom was defective so we reached out to BB to replace since it was under warranty. BB confirmed it was in fact under warranty but made it nearly impossible to have the blind repaired/replaced so we just let it go and simply never opened that specific blind for 2 years. Fast forward to July 2019 when I decided enough was enough. Reluctantly, I contacted BB once again in an effort to pick up where we'd left off to remind them we still had the defective blind that BB still hadn't picked up to repair/replace. They confirmed someone would be picking up the blind mid-August and it would be completed in 4-5 weeks. "Someone" did remove the blind and took it somewhere; however, we are still waiting for that blind to be returned 2.5 months later. We have left voice mails and emails without any response. "Tim and Carol Burr will get back to you" is the standard response you will receive from the answering service. I doubt the owners' names are even real at this point. Please save yourselves the aggravation and take your money elsewhere.

The storeroom is a nice place to shop, conveniently located in Proctor with ample free street parking in the area. We got a consultation in our home so that we could see the products in our space. The quote was given right away. The salesmen was very helpful and told us that the Hunter Douglas line is a lifetime type of purchase and therefore pricier than other options. Ultimately we chose a less expensive option but I think this store is worth a look, especially if you want something less common or have a more complicated situation.

They had a few issues with the process, but what blew me away was that every time I found a problem the owner immediately wrote me a check to cover the damage with no hesitation. Overall though it is a good product, it did a great job of sealing around all of the top and bottom plates, and I'm sure a bunch of other places I can't see. The aerobarrier got me down to 1.2 ach50, which surpassed my target. Their main guy was out of town, so they sent a less experienced tech. They ended up not taping off all of the plumbing penetrations, so we ended up getting sealant stuck in the dryer vent, b-vent, and a few other places. They either sent someone immediately to clean it up, or paid to replace the item when cleaning wasn't possible. They gave me an extra refund for the trouble. I wished I had the more experienced tech for the blower door, as this guy missed several things that would have improved the score. There was a window which was ajar, some plumbing penetrations which weren't taped off, and the HVAC duct work to the original house (which was square footage excluded from the test) needed to be taped off but wasn't. He also didn't know how to do a duct leakage test to the exterior (running duct leakage during blower door essentially). But I can't complain too much, as I still received a score which exceeded my expectations.

    I had a very frustrating experience with The Shade Store and would strongly caution others before…read moreordering. I placed an order for two sets of drapery (Living Room and Dining Room) at the end of January, with an expected ship date of late February and installation scheduled for mid-March. At the end of February, I was informed that the fabric was on backorder until the last week of March, meaning production had not even started yet. While delays can happen, this already conflicted with the original timeline. On March 9, I was then told the order would ship on March 27 -- which directly contradicts the earlier explanation that production could not begin until late March. When March 27 passed, there was no update. After I followed up again, I was told that only the Dining Room drapery had shipped, while the Living Room drapery was backordered again. There was no proactive communication, no explanation of what changed, and no response to my follow-up. Even now, the only update I receive is that they are "checking with production," which means there is still no clear understanding of the order status. Key issues: - Contradictory and unreliable information about timelines - No proactive communication -- I had to chase every update - Very slow responses (often several days) - Partial shipment without explanation, with ongoing delays - Overall lack of ownership and accountability For a premium-priced custom product, this level of service is unacceptable. At this point, I have lost confidence in both their process and their customer support. I would not purchase from them again and would not recommend them to others. If you value clear communication and reliable timelines, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. At the time of writing this review, I am still waiting for a clear and reliable update on the remaining order.

    The Shade Store has had our entire massive payment for an order placed over eight months ago. We…read morestill do not have the shades we were sold and we now have no confidence in this company. We have heard countless excuses for the long delays remaking shades after multiple failed installations (3, going on 4). The Shade Store just cannot seem to get it right. They keep having to remake the shades due to simple and avoidable issues in their own process. We ordered two blackout panels and two sheer panels for one big window, nothing crazy. They have had issues with measurement, mismatching fabric, missing hardware, mismatching carrier types, tracks improperly installed and pulling away from the ceiling, you name it. Each time shades are delivered and installed we essentially start over with a new mess. It is chaos. I finally asked for my money back after the cycle just repeated for the fourth time. The company representative told me they would refuse to provide a refund. Now we will evaluate options for legal action. Avoid this business and save yourself the headache.
