I got 3 quotes from Yelp to trouble shoot my video doorbell problem. This company came in the lowest at $79 ( see the image attached below SEE THE PHOTO SPECIFICALLY CALLS OUT ITS A FLAT FEE). As the price was too good, I called the company to confirm the quote was accurate. I explained the issue to the receptionist again over the phone, and she told me it's gonna be quoted price for sure. On the day of the appointment, the electrician told me the $79 was just the trip fee, and the actual cost to fix the problem was going to be another $169. I told him my communication with the receptionist over the phone, but he simply said a receptionist can't quote for him and when I rejected the price, he left. I then called the company to talk with the receptionist about the incidence, she flat out denied ever telling me the price was $79. UPDATE: after putting up this review, I called the company again, telling them I have the screenshots of their " flat rate" quote. The company asked me to send them a photo of the screenshot and they will investigate and get back to me.I did. I didn't hear back until today, seeing bel-Red's unapologetic response below. I am downgrading my review from 2 stars to 1 star ONE MORE UPDATE: I noticed Bel-Red says there's a "previous communication "CANned" I am not sure what that means, but this is the whole communication I got. If he can provide any communication indicating this is only the trip with a post date earlier than this communication, I would love to see it. read more

Disappointed in my service on my heater and thermostat. Attempted to install a new thermostat that was unsuccessful. Had the electrician put the old one back on but now the heater won't turn off unless the breaker is off now. When I disconnected it to try and see what was going on a wire was broken inside. Now I just have to have the breaker off so the heat isn't always running. read more

He was very courteous and professional and answered all our questions regarding the maintenance. He even came into the house and had a friendly conversation with us while he was waiting for the air conditioner to reach the temperature he needed to check its performance. Our electricians were Greg and Barak, and our customer service contact was Tim. They communicated well about what it would take to perform the work and gave a detailed quote. I liked it that they gave a quote for each part of the work so that we could mix and match, depending on our budget and what we wanted done. Driving well over the speed limit in a box van on the top of Hwy 18 Eastbound at Tiger Summit cutting off a Semi Truck in the rain was the stupidest driving maneuver I've seen in a while. Called and left message after 6 weeks and no one called me back. Sent them 2 replies on the contact us of my estimate. Crickets. Left me in a horrible bond trying to get this work done. Had a very special case of vaulted ceilings to replace lights and fan in the house, every local electrician wouldn't do it, since anything above 16ft is higher liability and you need 2-man job. So I called Bel-Red Electric and got appointment setup. The guys did a great job, explaining what was up to code and not and what needed replacing, took all day, but everything looked good! Bel-Red Electric will cost you more but its because they are a professional company and their bids reflect that. read more

Avoid at all cost, not just because they charge at least 2x more expensive than what most other electricians charge in the area. They spend a lot on ads but not so much on quality control. I had my power panel upgraded to make more room for additional switches. He couldn't finish the job in one day, so left me a power generator at the end of day which is only enough to power my lights. Later I found out that the job can be easily completed within a day and that my outlets were not installed professionally because they were not "pigtailed". You would think you are paying more for quality. In the end, you are really just paying more for their advertising budget. read more

As others have noted, Bel-Red is over priced and inflexible, especially for small jobs. Don't be rushed by the pressures of your project, they count on this. Look around for a more flexible solution. You will pay for them to drive to your home. You will pay for them to estimate the work that needs to be done (even if that work has already been clearly defined by contractor or city permits). Even if you don't agree with the estimate, you will owe Bel-Red several hundred dollars for pitching your business. read more

I'm only giving one star because i liked the electrician that came out... but the cost estimate was OUT OF THIS WORLD. They won't quote you any pricing over the phone and as others have said, charge $50 to come out. What's really turned me off on them however is that they apparently use standardized project based pricing, and he actually showed me how they cost out my project. Took exactly 30 seconds, and could have easily been done over the phone for me. Even if just a range. I just talked to another electrician that was actually recommended by Seattle Lighting, and he was easily more than half off Bel-red's quote. What's weirder is that i told them "no thanks" over 45 minutes ago, and they are still parked out front of my house chatting. I feel like i'm at a car dealership, and they are "waiting me out". read more

I used their services to install ceiling fan in my bedroom. Very good impression: called 30 min before arrival, arrived on time, clearly explained what has to be done, why and costs. Proposed two options. Proposed me Prime Card discount (which I have). Complete work in reasonable time, very accurate, demonstrated me fan operations. The guy was very nice and polite. Price was reasonable to me, likely you can find cheaper, but have to know where to look. I had bad experience searching for electric before. This company provided terrible service. On top of the poor experience the pricing was 3-4 times more expensive than what other companies charged for the same work. My wife called them to have two light fixtures installed. They would not give any estimates over the phone, unlike other companies we spoke to, but since they had other positive reviews we took a chance never thinking they would come in at several times more cost than the other companies. When they came out they were abrupt with my wife and then quoted her $2,600 for two lights. This was several times more expensive than the other companies had given us. When I pointed out we had had similar work done before at more than half this price, and other companies had given us different pricing less than half what they were trying to charge they demanded the site visit fee of $69 and left in a huff. I sent a note to the company about my experience and never heard back. Three days later I had the work done for $600. Clearly their model is to make you pay for them to come to your house first so that you feel silly for not having the work completed. They are also a bit rude and condescending that of course no one else could do the work like they could. It was a fairly high pressure situation for my wife that she had to come and get me to talk to them instead. Highly recommend you find other companies to work with. read more

Didn't use them. They want 39 dollars just to come LOOK before they can give any kind of estimate for a simple ceiling fan install. Last Electrician I called had me send him a photo with my cell phone (of the existing box and wires in the ceiling) and was able to quote me over the phone. (There is already electric run to the ceiling for a light so this is not a major job) They might be great but if I have to pay 40 bucks to even find out if their job price is competitive I will never know. read more

I had the company do major upgrades several years ago including the panel. I called them twice to change out some circuit breakers on my panel that they installed. No calls were returned. This job would take one hour but it appear Bel-Red doesn't want small jobs, not enough profit. They used to be a great company but have gone downhill. read more

Bel-Red Electric did a great job for us. Be aware, though, that they are pretty expensive. Their electrician was pleasant and professional, and he got everything done just as I wanted it. He was even able to install two new lights without turning the main power off, which was great because I was working from home on my computer. And he also cleaned up after himself and left everything exactly as it was before he arrived -- which has not always been my experience with the contractors I've hired in the past. So -- not cheap, but excellent service. I would definitely use them again. read more

First electrician (Greg) out was polite, informative and solved the problem - he discussed the issue with me and the costs - I was quite pleased and service was completed as promised. He mentioned they would be back if it didn't work - well, it didn't quite work. Monday morning first thing they sent out David - "the wizard" - to figure out what was causing a fault. He was great, also polite and very knowledgeable. With careful sluething he finally figured out a problem plaguing me for 4 years! I am super happy and they didn't charge for the follow up! Bel - Red Electric, Redmond, WA We cannot say enough good comments about Bel - Red Electric and the two electricians that connected our skylight blinds to the motor. We were having terrible customer service with the installers, but Ryan and Greg stuck with us and got our blinds hooked to electricity and to work. Greg happened to come as a substitute when Ryan was sick. He had not been to our home before and to deal with installers that were not willing to explain the situation. He studied the directions and was able to come on another day and get things hooked up in our attic. Ryan came a few days later and checked all the connections, which were fine.On that day, the installers did not show up. Ryan noticed that the blinds that we bought did not have connecting wires. He talked to the sales representative and told her to get the connecting attachment ordered. That he wanted to make his customers happy and get the blinds working. Come to find out the connectors were not being manufactured any longer, so Ryan made the connecting wires. Ryan said all along that he wanted to please us, since we had been waiting over 2 years for the skylight blinds. He accomplished this and was very helpful and supportive to us. We bought a backup generator and needed the transfer switch hooked up and the receptical. I easily set up an appointment a week out for an electrician to come and do the job. I received a call 30 min before Matt (the electrician) showed up. He came and we went through everything, gave an estimate with the permits, and did an amazing job setting everything up! Not only that, but he spent time simulating a power outage and showing me the safe and correct way to run the backup generator. We are so confident knowing that it is all set up the right way and by code. He was full of great information as well! He also made some great observations in the house as he went along and made suggestions. Just a fantastic job and we will be hiring them from now on for any electrical work. read more

I was very pleased with the work done on my house. 2 outlets were dead, and those were troubleshot and fixed quickly. The second project was a little trickier and turned out great. We had florescent lighting in the kitchen, we wanted to replace it with track lighting, which means moving the junction box and doing a bit of work. It turned out as good as we could've hoped for. Additionally, the electrician talked me through everything and was very careful to keep everything clean. He wore booties over his shoes, used a drop cloth, and vacuumed up after finishing. I've had numerous people out to work on my house and he was by far and away the best about keeping things clean. read more

They were more costly than a high paid attorney and the manager would not return my two phone calls and left my name and phone number both times. All I wanted to do was talk about the charges because they did not fix the problems and just charged too much. They charged over four hundred dollars on my 3 year old heater for two hours of work and ten cent zip tie placed on one loose wire but worst of all they still could not fix the problem and they wanted $400 more to make the three year old heat pump work. I worked at project managing large construction jobs usually around $3 million projects for about 20 years so I have some experience and this company over changes. Don't use them!!! read more

Good service and the technician was very friendly and helpful. However, the estimating process is a joke. The technician is required to use a worksheet with a bunch of check boxes. We recently purchased a home and had an assortment of work we wanted done before we moved in. New center lights in 4 bedrooms, chandeliers replaced, living room recessed lighting, installing new bathroom fans, wiring for a home theater projector, and a few additional items. We had two companies bid the project and they each tried to sell us work we didn't need, didn't bid everything we asked, didn't follow-up, or the pricing didn't feel right. Compare that to Bel-Red who gave us immediate pricing that felt reasonable, and started work the same day. They have been prompt, professional, and easy to work with (Ryan has been awesome) and pulled in guys to the job to get it done in a timely manner to coordinate with our painter who was already well underway in the house.
