We lost the function of our Miele dishwasher a week and a half ago. The Miele technician came and said the dishwasher was fine. He checked the outlet under the sink where it was plugged in. "No power. It's your circuit at the breaker," he said. He charged us $263 dollars. Today Andrew came. He looked at the outlet and pressed the GFCI reset button. Instant power in less than 5 minutes. Had Huckleberry out to install wiring for a hot tub. Initial consult was great. He scheduled something promptly. When my appointment came, they ran the conduit along my deck and across the property. In a few conversations along the way, I asked about options for routing, and they were hesitant to do things other than the fastest/easiest way. I knew their bid was just a bit under the others I received so we moved ahead. The worst part of the project came at the end. The installer rushed and ignored the provided manufacturer documentation, and ran the conduit through the hole in the hot tub meant to hold the cover bracket. The cover could not be installed. I reached out to have them correct the mistake, and they requested an additional $300 to do so. After multiple emails they made it clear that they wouldn't compromise on that so I paid the additional invoice. Disappointing outcome from a mistake that they could have been easily avoided. One final thought: the installer who came out to fix the mistake was great. Professional and understanding...I wish he had handled the entire project. read more

Install was great -- they installed the lights exactly where I wanted them installed -- in spite of the seemingly randomly placed joists in my garage ceiling, and the electrical work looks good to my untrained eye. My EV Charger in my condo building stopped working. I called Huckleberry and was able to set up an appointment right away. They sent out Christian to troubleshoot my issue which he was able to identify and repair within an hour. The Thermolec Management system that manages electricity output to the EV Charger had a loose wire caused when workers replaced some drywall on the wall where the management system was mounted. This is an update: After trying to contact the company for many weeks, I decided to write the previous Yelp review since we were frustrated, and my mom was cold. Suddenly, my phone was blowing up with emails and phone calls. I appreciated the quick response and explanation from the owner. That same day, he sent out two electricians to go to my mom's house and start fixing the heater. She was so happy! They worked meticulously for many hours to isolate the heater and figure out how to install a new one since the current one was over 50 years old. The new heater they had brought did not work because of not having the correct wattage, but they quickly made an appointment to bring the correct heater the next week. On that day, they were supposed to come in the morning, but ended up being double booked, so they came in the afternoon instead. The great thing was, however, they called my mom and let her know. Then they came out and worked for almost 3 hours installing the new heater. It looks and works great, and she is so very happy! With the previous communication issues out of the way, I highly recommend this company. read more

The biggest problem by far was their lack of consideration for our space. Hands down the most unprofessional thing I've experienced with a contractor. First I want to clarify that I understand if it's not their job to clean up and they aren't responsible for cosmetic damage. However, I don't think it's too much to ask to tell me where you drilled and where the mess is so I can clean it up. We even asked beforehand if we should move anything, cover anything, etc. We were told there was no need. Then I went into my office and realized a thick layer of saw dust covered everything. My monitor, keyboard, work laptop, chair, desk, floor, etc. I spent the next 30 minutes wiping everything down and vacuuming before I could even start my work day. Zero consideration for the mess and cost of items nearby. Same thing happened in my craft space. On another day, I noticed a container on our kitchen counter was chewed up and the surrounding area was covered in sawdust and tiny wood chips. Then I noticed punctured drywall above and below an outlet. Turned out they drilled down from our attic but miscalculated. The drill went through the kitchen wall in two spots, hit the food container and sprayed sawdust and wood chips over food items nearby. Absolutely no mention of it from them either. I brought it up and the electrician was like "oops, our bad." I don't care about the drywall damage, I do care that they didn't even think about drilling near food and the potential problems that might have. By far the most frustrating thing I experienced was the amount of wood chips and sawdust left in my craft room closet. My fabric and other items were absolutely covered in both and a huge pile of it sat far enough back that I couldn't see it without moving stuff. Again, 20 minutes of cleaning and vacuuming. I just can't believe they do that amount of drilling with that much debris and think it's ok to leave it there or not mention it. As other reviewers have stated, communication is frustrating with this company. We got on their schedule for a two week job of knob and tube replacement, set to be there on a Monday. We get an email that day saying they'll be late, coming around noon. Then another email saying they can't come today but will be there tomorrow. Tuesday arrives and they are supposed to come around 8 am. By 10 am, still no one. We email, Andrew apologies and says they are on their way. Noon rolls around and still no one. Another email. We call and no one answers. We email again and get a "oh they were supposed to reach out." At 3:30 pm, the electrician calls us and says there "was a miscommunication" and he will come tomorrow to start the job. It's fine if a job has to start late and a reschedule happens, but just let us know so we aren't waiting around all day. Last thing I'll mention was pricing when including one additional half wall for rewiring in our kitchen. They were rewiring one side of the same wall, but not the kitchen side because originally we were going to do that later. They quoted an additional 6k for one wall, even though they were already doing the other side. Considering the original quote was 25k for a 1000 sq ft space, an additional 6k for a wall seemed inconsistent with the scope of work. However, it was somehow included in the scope of work to remove one outlet from that wall and disconnect the garbage disposal without telling us. We now have only two functioning outlets in our kitchen thanks to them and a disposal with no power. Our outlets work and so does the breaker box, so the electrical part is fine. Two stars for that. But, given the above, we will not be using HB again. read more

I reached out via email for quotes to install an EV charger at my home. Huckleberry responded promptly (Nina is great). I sent photos of my panel, along with where I wanted to install the charger. Nina came back with a very competitive quote (reasonably priced compared to others) and the best part is that Huckleberry didn't try to upsell me on anything. All the other electricians tried to upsell me into upgrading my panel as I have a split bus panel, whereas Nina offered a competitive solution and verified with the electricians that it could work (move and rewire a circuit to create space + install the NEMA 14-50 plug for the ev charger). They were quick, offered great rates, straight forward, and had someone at our home within the week. Our technician (Kadin) and his partner were great, speedy, and installed our plug-in charger fast. They were polite, efficient, and even finished the work at a lower than expected price and were honest about it. The charger works great. "Amazing" is what best describes my experience working with the team at Huckleberry Electric. A pretty substantial, snow and ice-laden tree branch snapped off during winter storms and caught on one of our power lines. We thankfully did not lose power, but the branch did cause some damage to the conduit attached to the house and destroyed our weather cap. Huckleberry Electric was the first to respond to my Yelp quote inquiries, and was able to book a crew out really quickly. Now, Seattle City Light and Mother Nature had other plans for this initial appointment (and the rescheduled appointment after that), but Andrew, Morgan, and Coleson at Huckleberry Electric were all fantastic sports, had the best, most optimistic attitudes, and were very flexible with everything that was thrown at us. They handled the permits and the inspection afterwards so I didn't have to worry about anything. They just called that they will not able able to come another couple hours. I would be ok for 1-2 hours delay but 5-6 hours is unacceptable. We worked with Morgan, Duane and Andrew on upgrading our panel to 200 amps and adding an EV outlet. From the start, communication was easy, friendly, and Morgan was incredibly patient with our million and one questions on the process. Having been in contact with 4 other electricians, Huckleberry was the most responsive and offered competitive pricing. The day of actual work went very smoothly. They even helped us move some shelves to ensure we met inspection requirements. When done, I didn't have to spend extra cleanup time as the space was returned to original condition. Things got complicated once we were working with the utility provider. Apparently there are different sets of electrician codes set nationally and by the local utility, whom Andrew spent considerable time coordinating with.
