As a part of a large outdoor remodel, Pure Power was responsible for all of the electrical work including installation of a Bluetooth-controlled HPC fire pit with emergency stop switch, multiple outdoor outlets, and multiple Bluetooth-controlled color light fixtures including wall sconces and ceiling flush mounts (18 feet high). In 2018, Karlin installed two AFCI/GFCI circuit breakers that I had previously purchased, for $203.50 per his estimate. This seemed reasonable to me. He acted professionally, and he even let me watch him install the new breakers. My only minor concern is he only hand tightened the screws "good and tight", instead of tightening them according to the 36(inch pounds) specification that was written on the breaker installation instructions, and on the new breakers themselves, when he installed the new breakers. Karlin said that this is the common practice among electricians and that very few, if any, bother to follow the inch pound torque standard when tightening circuit breakers. Also, it would have required use of a special expensive inch pound torque wrench that must undergo annual inspection and certification. (What a pay cut! Ouch!) These facts for now allay my concern enough that I can see myself hiring this firm again to do electrical work for me in the future. Well, this was unexpected. I wanted piece of mind that a newly installed used hot tub was wired correctly because the GFI breaker kept tripping. I was reluctant to call an electrician based on fear of being taken advantaged of; also trying to coordinate appointment. I was pleasantly surprised when I called and spoke with Karlin. Karlin was great. He was prompt, his bid was detailed and was flexible with changes I needed. In particular Karlin and his wife went above and beyond with a ceiling fan we had him install. This was a vaulted great room which required an extra tall ladder, in addition we thought we could just install it on the sloped ceiling but the slope was too great which required him to basically install it twice. In addition we needed a long pole for the fan that was not with the fixture our ordered (my fault) and his wife ran out to get the part we needed. I had him run some network cables, speaker cables, add a couple of circuits, hand a ceiling light, put in a 50 amp EV plug and wire for a generator switch. I contacted Karlin to install a GFI outlet to hook up electrical for an outdoor fountain and lights. He recommended adding a new circuit for the outlet and did a very good, quality job. However, I question whether the new circuit was necessary for two low voltage items versus tapping into an existing circuit. It cost me a pretty penny for this job and I'm disappointed that he didn't give me any options that would have been less expensive. Plus, he added an indoor switch for the outlet but didn't bother to ask us how we were going to use it so it can function properly. I have nothing but gratefulness towards Karlin. I tried replacing the ceiling light in our washer/dryer unit, but with a condo having aluminium wires built in the 70s, it's hard! On top of that, the wires had no insulation anymore and it completely switched off electricity going to my living room! The situation was just beyond my expections. I don't typically do reviews, but in this case, an exception is warranted. I requested an estimate for the replacement of a Zinsco electrical panel, which I discovered has a history of problems with defective electrical breakers. I felt Karlin gave me a fair estimate, and asked him to do the job. When he arrived, I asked if he could also install a couple of electrical outlets in my garage and he quoted a very fair price. In the end, he installed an additional outlet (for the price of two) and installed some safety outlets in my bathrooms at no additional charge. When the L and I electrical inspector came out today to inspect the job, he told me that Pure Power had installed a high quality panel ( "Cadillac", as he describe it ). We've had him carry out a few relatively small jobs such as installing outdoor power outlets but what will keep us coming back is his willingness to help us out with smaller, and sometimes pretty innocuous questions and even false alarms, as we were new to the area and not familiar with electrical setup here versus where we used to live.
