    This review begins with a birthday. My birthday. TODAY. And what precious gift did I receive today while driving on 94? An exploding tire. Crazy day, but I'm actually in high spirits. Unfortunately, Tires Plus did not contribute to those high spirits. After that fiasco on the road, I drove to Tires Plus on my baby tire and asked them to replace my busted one. My family has always bought our tires from here, so they were under warranty. The work was completed just fine, but the communication throughout the process was pretty poor. A lot of waiting and then nothing and then more waiting. I expect waiting at a car repair place, but I just wish I had known from the beginning that it would take more than 30 minutes to get an estimate when the guy at the counter said, "We'll take a look right now." I would have gone home and they could have called me. When I got the price estimate ($40 with the warranty coverage), my boyfriend picked me up so that I wouldn't have to hang out all day with the container of Coffeemate (those things are always hanging around in car repair places, I swear). Before I left, I noticed signs saying they would be closed at 6 p.m. tonight for a meeting. I made sure to ask if my car would be ready before then (was not offered an actual time estimate on the work). They said definitely and that they would call. Things were looking up. Then, no call. 6 p.m. rolled around and I realized that I still haven't heard from them, so I called hoping that someone would be there. Thankfully, someone was in the office and said that the car had been ready for a while. I said, "No call?" He said, "I called earlier and it went straight to voicemail." That would have been a good time to leave a voicemail, no? Isn't that the typical thing to do? But no voicemail. Anyway, I'm just a bit frustrated with the communication today. The actual work seems to be fine and I had an OK experience with them a few months ago when they patched a tire for me, but I think this will be my last trip to Tires Plus.

Seems like this was indeed a one-off experience and I am very impressed by Nick's integrity and ownership of the mistake. As I said below, I will definitely be back here next time I need a repair (which with how old my car is, is unfortunately often). [Original Review]: I've had good experiences here in the past, so hopefully this is a one-off experience. Brought in my car for what I suspected was a faulty alternator, but asked them to call me once they verified that was the issue and before they replaced anything (I have an old Toyota with 350k miles on it so it is always a question of how much money is worth putting into any repairs on it). I got a call later that day saying my car was done (no call prior to this with a cost, asking for go-ahead, etc) and to stop by to pick it up. I get to the shop to find out they have replaced my battery and not the alternator. I question them in it and they go run another test, and determine it did not need a battery but does still need the alternator replaced. They were nice enough to order an alternator and still get the car fixed by the end of the day, but when I went to pick it up, I look at the receipt to find they had charged me labor and parts for a battery and TWO alternators. I'm currently in the process of trying to get a refund for the erroneous second alternator charge. Hoping they are back to the better service I have received from them in the past next time I need to bring my car in and that this is only a one-off.

    Called for a quote on a service. Was told that it required a "disassembly" to complete which would…read morerequire additional labor. Parts were 160$ but somehow with labor it's over 500$ to replace spark plugs. Shouldn't take more than an hour labor to complete. Called a dealership and was quoted at less than half the cost of this scam shop. Do not come here. You will get overcharged and talked down to like you don't know anything.

Having a mechanic who you know is not trying to rip you off or just straight up lie to you is worth paying for. It's not over charging, it's called small business making ends meet. They are local people and have been around for a very long time. They care about the community. I love going somewhere where they will tell you what is wrong and what is coming up in the future. "This is what you need now and this is what you need later, which we could do now if you want, but you don't need to." You will not hear that from a national brand. I love Hawkins and have been going there since I have had a car. Before that I went there when my dad brought his cars there.

They ordered me a new tire (without telling me to replace the rest of the tires), got me all fixed up, and have been my shop ever since. I never feel like they're ripping me off or making me buy extra stuff but still know they're looking out for my car, which is getting older and needs more done with 120k miles. There's a bunch of places way closer to me but I'll go out of my way to keep bringing my car here. They're also kind to everyone who comes in. Wouldn't hesitate to bring any vehicle here, they've been great!
