Tiramisu is a small restaurant with lots of neighborhood ambience. The decor is old school family restaurant and the food is outstanding! I tried the Cachico E Pepa and it knocked me out. My wife had the Veal Cutlet and refused to share. But if you go, try the Roman Chessecake with a glass of Grappa to finish your night. This place is a hidden gem. This review would be a 4.5 if we could do half reviews! Here's why. Food: 5 stars - Arugula and carpaccio - the dressing was divine! So tasty!! Get the tiramisu and ask for an espresso martini (not on menu) - perfect combo! I'd go back tomorrow just for these three items. 4.6 stars - Pollo Rothschild - was a perfect, not too heavy dish with really great flavors. 4.3 stars - Vitello con Porcini - Solid dish but lacked just a little bit of flavor. Unfortunately, didn't love the artichoke. It tasted burnt and without a lot of flavor. Wine: Montepulciano - fantastic, got a bottle and would happily get another Service: Waitress well-informed on all dishes and history of the restaurant. She was direct and a straight shooter and kept our wine glass fullWater cup never empty. Ambiance: It's a cute and quaint place. No bar. There is a lot of misinformation about this restaurant (like someone thinks they don't take cash?!!! They do.) I was really SMH over some of this stuff, I have lived here nine years, go there often, and had one bad meal ever (the steak was too fatty for me, once, plenty if times it was perfect). This is an authentic Italian family restaurant, they are from Rome, and they put their heart and soul into what they do and work very hard. 5/5!!! This restaurant has been on my radar for the longest time. Such a special Roman Jewish meal. I felt a familiarity after traveling to Italy and also growing up Jewish. I was right at home with these classic meals with a unique twist. We started with the Antipasto della Casa. A combo of artichokes, homemade mozzarella, chickpea salad, calamari fritti, and smoked salmon. What they don't tell you is the salmon is house cured!! Amazing, and not overly salty like most cured salmon. I put it on top of the homemade matzoh they offer at the beginning of the meal. The homemade mozz was delish. Everything was just so good and fresh. For dinner: Matzagna - Lasagna made with a Bechamel sauce and artichokes. No pasta here. Made with the homemade matzoh. Very delicious. Creamy and melt in your mouth. Loved the parm. Dentice con Pinoli e Uva Passita - Red snapper with pine nuts, raisins, and balsamic vinegar. The fish was so juicy and this was a nice combo of salt sweet. Amazing portions, reasonable prices, fresh tasty food. Water was always flowing and service was accommodating. I would give this restaurant five stars but unfortunately the service was so bad that it took a star away from the excellent food. We must've sat for 20 minutes before anybody came over and it was the bus boy not the waitress. We had to ask him to get someone to place an order. Finally she came over and seemed to have such an attitude. We were very happy with the food! The artichokes were amazing! I had some kind of chicken with peppers and things on it that were delicious. Last night my husband and I stopped in for dinner. This was my second time at Tiramisu but my first for dinner (I had been for brunch years before but I don't believe they serve it anymore). Wow, this place really is the best kept secret on the Main Line. We came on a Thursday so were able to bring our own bottle of wine (BYOB Sun-Thurs with $5 corkage fee). We started with the antipasto sampler as a way to try a few different items. This included calamari (very good), mozzarella (good), smoked salmon (excellent), chickpea salad (excellent) and their artichokes (phenomenal). I just have to note that the artichokes were some of the best I've ever had!!! For dinner my husband had the veal parm and I had the truffle fettuccini. Both dishes were AMAZING. I truly cannot wait to come back and try more dishes because they were so impressive. What's even more impressive than the food is that this place is run by a husband and wife and since every restaurant is short staffed right now, it really is just about them and one other person taking care of the restaurant. Despite business being a little slower than usual due to the pandemic and being short staffed, the quality of the food is outstanding! We'll be back!! read more

The inside is nicely decorated and has a very warm and cozy feel. It has two separate rooms which helps the place feel cozy. We visited on a Sunday evening during the playoffs so it was not busy. We did make reservations which I would definitely do on a Friday or Saturday. We were given toasted bread and matzo crackers which were so tasty that we had a second serving. Today's soup was Pasta Fagoli and it was amazing. The bowl was huge and it could have been a meal by itself. My friend had the salad and it was huge and looked very fresh. I decided to have risotto but I wanted it with chicken breast. It was not a problem and I'm so glad they accommodated me as the combo was amazing. The dish was huge and I took half home as left overs. My friends both ate the lobster ravioli which looked divine. They both enjoyed their meals and ate every bite. Of course there is room for dessert on girls night :) I had the Tiramisu (of course). It was a nice big slice and definitely tasty. I ended up packing half of it to go home. My friends had the roman cheesecake which they enjoyed. They said it reminded them of tres leches cake. We definitely did not feel rushed after our meal so we sat around a bit. At a recent dinner, food was delicious and plentiful as always. Artichokes are not to be missed, pesce misto was generous and so tasty, albeit a bit salty. Service, however, ranged from neglectful to surly. Long wait for order to be taken (had to flag down server), check to be provided and processed (again had to flag down and re-request), all interactions curt. We drove 40 minutes reading the reviews but I will be honest first time we went to a restaurant with rude service. with a reservation for 2, we were seated right next to the door when there were empty tables around. when asked for those tables, we were rudely declined and were given to folks who came after us, including those without reservations. Unfortunately, the servers were not amenable to changes asked of them - substituting something like polenta or vegetables for pasta, etc. I made the mistake of ordering their steak and asked for it to be medium. It was medium well at a minimum and inedible. Despite being one of eight people at the restaurant, it took them over an hour to bring the food out. I'm not sure where the errors lie but the slow service along with food cooked to improper standards along with over cooked vegetables make Tiramisu not worth the cost at all. There are many other restaurants in the area that have better service, food, and cost. I'd recommend going elsewhere. I'm really really disappointed with my experience here. read more

Quite honestly, I came to this restaurant without any major expectations. I literally was just hoping for a decent pasta dish for the night. On a snowy night, the parking lots was covered in salt. The entrance had a white sheet on the ground to soak up water. And then we enter the room was dimly lit, with old Italian paintings, and wine bottles as decor. It looked like a typical run down Italian joint. Regardless, the waiter was a delight and we went with that he recommended. The fried artichokes were a great simple start. They very outer layer tasted a little burnt, but the inside was great. The papperdelle ricotta pasta and fettuccine with red sauce were amazing. Fresh pasta. Cooked to perfection. Light and fresh ingredients. Literally everything I needed in the form of carbs for a cold night. We ended with the tiramisu of course, which was also delicious. The food is great. The food was very tasty and although it's a tight squeeze inside the restaurant, the atmosphere is charming. Our bus person and server were both friendly and informed. Things to know: There are no free refills of iced tea. At $3 for each glass, this is way out of market and expensive for something that is essentially tap water. I wish the server had told me there were no refills and I would have switched over to water. $10 corkage fee if you BYO. They do charge a fee to use your credit card. This is my first review ever, but I felt compelled to write one after another wonderful meal at Tiramisu! Having lived in Italy for several years, we are always on the lookout for real authentic Italian food, and this is honestly the only restaurant that truly compares to the feel and the quality of our favorites from there. From the small, intimate dining room to the owners' children playing outside, it has that warm family feel that you can't replicate easily, and is obviously lacking in the more pretentious "Italian" restaurants in the city. The real star of the show is the food! Mama Mia. From homemade mozzarella and fried artichokes appetizers to their all homemade pastas, the dishes are crafted with that simplicity and quality that you find in the best family cucinas in the Italy. My father made a point of saying it was the best bolognese he's ever had. So if you've ever been to Italy and miss the food so bad it aches, or if you've never been and want to get a taste of la vita é bella, be thankful that just a short trip to Tiramisu can transport you to the Bel Paese! Unf, Tiramisu. You've ended my years-long quest to find homemade four-cheese gnocchi on the Main Line, and man does it knock the socks off. Even the boy, who normally decries gnocchi with as many pejoratives as you can find, agrees that he could learn to love this dish if it were prepared this well all the time. Don't blink too hard at the "sparkling, still or tap water?" question -- this place is much more down to earth than the question implies. The service is decently enthusiastic, if still a bit shaky. The ambient music can be taken down a notch, but the setting is very well decorated and cozy. Tables are fairly close together and you can definitely hear the conversations of your fellow dinner companions, so avoid bringing your screaming baby for dinner if possible. The food was utterly fantastic, like I mentioned above. Whatever they do to their delicious flatbread and oil-and-vinegar dip, keep it up! Though the caesar salad wasn't quite up to my taste (just not a fan of mustard in the dressing, that's all), hubs had a fantastic house special arugula-and-artichoke salad. Veal with mushroom and red wine reduction was superb. We both had the namesake dessert, which is a must-try. Best part are the prices, really -- can't go wrong with reasonably-priced entrees and significant portions to take home with you. You'd almost think it was Fellini's Cafe down the block, except ten times more delicious! Next time you have a great bottle of two-buck chuck or a couple of Stella's, save it and bring it along with you for dinner, since this place is a BYOB. read more

Came here for a family dinner and enjoyed it immensely. The service was warm and efficient. The restaurant has two small dining areas which made it more intimate. It was not very busy on a Sunday night and they were very attentive. We started out with their fantastic bread and oil and balsamic and moved on to appetizers which were great but for those who are on a low salt diet I could see how done might feel it was too salty. The food was excellent though a bit rich. The main dishes were all excellent but, again, a bit heavy. I usually reserve the coveted 5th star for restaurants that clearly have a lighter fare. If I owned a restaurant and I knew my food was exceptional, I would focus on customer service. That is exactly what the owner of Tiramisu did. Best service I've ever had, because they were so helpful and so laid back. If you don't know what you want, they are flexible. You can mix and match anything you want. They just want you to be happy. The food was fantastic. We did the clams casino and fried artichokes as appetizers. Both were so flavorful and perfectly cooked. We mixed and matched our entrees so we could try some pasta but also get lamb or steak or veal. We had all three of those meals and they were phenomenal. Small restaurant with maybe 7 4-tops in the whole place, and I think that is part of the charm. Oh - and get the Tiramisu. You only live once, and it is so worth it. read more

WARNING - the "SPECIALS" as rattled off by the server are way higher in price than anything else on the regular menu. San Marco in Springhouse and Bocelli in Gwynedd Valley do the same thing. They keep their menu at very reasonable price ranges and then wallop you when you order from the specials of the day sales pitch at the table. To me that is just not genuine. At least the $5 per bottle corkage fee is posted on the door. But WTF, they are a BYOB, is this a Main Line thing? It's "take advantage of the neighborhood" I guess. Anyway, back to the $30 charge for Bolgnese over Linguine special served in a small bowl. If my memory serves me correctly, there is not one pasta dish over $19 on the menu, but the special pasta of the day is $30. Kiss my ass!! The average salad on the menu was $8, but the special salad of arugula with blueberry goat cheese was $11. OK, the salad was very good but the bolognese was average for what I would have expected. My friend had the Pompano which was also very good, a fresh, nice portion. And yes, the artichokes app are original in preparation and delicious. This is a good little neighborhood spot, with what I would say almost 4 star food, 3 star service, but 1 star for pissing me off. I read the other 12 reviews of this place and I even read the 28 filtered reviews. Weird that there are more filtered than unfiltered! And wow, how can everyone have so completely different an experience than everyone else? All I can comment on is our own experience, which was overall, pleasant. It's a BYOB, as noted, which is always great. The decor here is homey and warm, it is small but we didn't feel cramped. Our waiter was professional and the overall service was good. We had the carciofi (jewish artichokes) to start and they were fried with a crispy outside. Wonderful. Drizzled olive oil and balsamic vinegar completed the dish. None of us ordered pasta, we jumped to the main course. I had a chicken dish with red peppers and a nice chicken stock sauce. It was accompanied by a nice creamy polenta which had cheese on it, spinach, and carrots that were lightly spiced and seasoned well. All dishes were seasoned well. The duck a l'orange was simple but good, and the portion was nice and large. All portions actually were large. Some folks will have leftovers, and there's nothing wrong with that. We had the limoncello sorbet which had nice limoncello flavor but was a bit heavy on the cream, which had been swirled into it. The bomba was nice, it had a chocolate crust around the outside and chocolate and vanilla ice cream on the inside. A bit of fruit sauce to complete it. We'll be back to try pasta, which of course is very important to get right. But everything we had here was simple and tasty on this night. read more
