    First Friday seating
    Matthew B.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while. First Friday provided an opportunity to sit outside with a nice bottle of wine and enjoy the cuisine on a gorgeous summer evening. We ordered the octopus in fried artichoke hearts as our appetizers. The fried artichoke hearts we're perfectly done - but I think could've benefited from a dipping sauce which was not offered. The octopus was really good but relatively small for the price (get a significantly larger portion across the street at Avalos for not much more $). We ordered their top-of-the-line pizza (the Riviana that uses marzano tomatoes and Buffalo mozzarella. And while the pizza looks kind of cool, I was not impressed. The very scarce amount of sauce and buffalo mozzarella with a piece of basil -- on what I found to be a somewhat undercooked doughy crust -- was just not my cup of tea. My wife liked it but I would not frankly order it again. I don't know what their other pizzas are like. We did decide to do dessert and had the ricotta cheesecake and Panna cotta - both of which were good - although the ricotta cheesecake again would have benefited from an accompaniment of some sort, as it was very plain. Service was good and the staff was friendly enough. I just think with so many other options around this area particularly when it comes to pizza, the Wood fired aspect simply wasn't executed well enough to distinguish it.

I like the place, cozy and clean and the staff are nice and pet friendly and the food was delicious definitely coming back.

Too short of a cool time. Crust did not have time to cook and/or dough was prep the same day

Coming from Italy, I feel like I have a clear understanding of what a good pizza is. And if the pizzeria claims to be owned by an Italian owner, the pizza should be above standards. I tried this place once over the summer and was delighted. Then I tried this place 4 more times since then and it clearly went downhill. Maybe the first try was luck. For the 4th time, pizzas have been nothing but saggy. See attached picture. Undercooked. Crust had no time to rise in the oven which tells me it was rushed, like the previous 3 times I tried this place. $15 for that is an absolute rip off. At this point, I feel like dominos pizza can do better. If you are starving, just order pasta from this place. Nobody can mess up pasta. If they do, we are really screwed. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

$4 for broccoli rabe, given maybe a tablespoon of it

Paid $4 extra for toppings, hardly got any. Not disability friendly!!!!! They were over 20 min late, after I showed up and asked for my order once before, finally asked to sit down and wait, was told I could not because there were reservations for 45 min from then.. the place was EMPTY!! should not have to disclose my disability to be offered a seat when the place was empty... Pizza is sized for a small child.

5 little spots of the wrong cheese with some burnt basil
    Derek G.

I ordered a pizza for takeout with Gorgonzola cheese and mushrooms. This is what I got: 4 spots of regular mozzarella (not Gorgonzola) a few mushrooms and some burnt basil. Here are some pizza tips for Vecchia - You put basil on a pizza after it's baked. Your crust is mushy in the center and too thin. The slice flops over and all the toppings slide off. On a positive note, the crust edge is good and chewy.

Pizza is excellent. Pasta? Not so much. Shrimp over linguine- bland, no garlic. Pizzeria salad was tasty. Calamari ok. Service was great.

Always love the pizza! There was a torrential downpour & some ceiling drips but the staff kept moving pleasantly.

Our server was great and attentive, the food was really good! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari, chicken with crab, veal saltimbocca, pasta with shrimp and crab, pasta with meatballs (the person who ordered didn't care for the meatballs but is very particular), baked salmon, and chicken parm dinner. Only issue I would address is that some of the parties food came out at least 5 minutes before the others (about 1/2 the party) which made it awkward. Otherwise, a great experience and all want to return!

When I arrived, I drove past the restaurant because I did not know where it was located. I turned around at the municipal building and drove around to the main entrance which is behind the building and not on East Lancaster Avenue. We were there for lunch so there was plenty of parking. Given the large number of tables that they have, I can imagine that the parking lot can get crowded when the restaurant is full. The interior is large with lots of tables inside and outside. Outside there are tables on a patio overlooking the river. The building appears to be a converted mill. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Basa Francesce, Seafood Fettucine, and Chocolate Mousse Cake. The Caesar Salad was delicious. The dressing had a hint of anchovy flavor. The Basa Francesce was a light fish washed in butter with a lemon butter sauce. The fettucine was not as flavorful as I expected. The Seafood Fettucine by contrast was extremely tasty. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was rich and delightful. I expect us to be back again.

We were seated at the same table in the bar near the fireplace as our last visit and we were very comfortable there. Our server, Amanda, was top notch. Super friendly and explained the menu and the specials which two of us took advantage of. I had the salmon and linguine with roasted tomatoes (FABULOUS) and my daughter had the Special with Chicken and Shrimp in a Vodka Sauce - we both were very happy with our choices. I almost forgot to mention the delicious bread knots - soooo good. Did I mention that Amanda is an awesome server! We enjoyed a bottle of wine (half off of Pinot Grigio) and took our Lemon Cake dessert home to enjoy as we were all too full to have it at the restaurant but didn't want to miss out! We'll be visiting PA again in August and will absolutely be back! Note: Tried to upload photos but didn't work.

The musicians are shoved into a tight space surrounded by four tables, and everyone seated at the tables around us (and our party) were screaming to speak to one another which just added to the noise. All to say -- while the music was good, I would highly recommend making reservations on the weekend to make sure you're not seated in that area. I will definitely not come back unless I can confirm I'm seated elsewhere. Food was good. Very large portions, good flavor, everyone was satisfied. Our waitress was very attentive.
