Ordered from their catering menu for our birthday party. I ordered half trays of white rice, garlic rice, pork adobo, chicken lumpia, pork lechon, and pork skewers. The chicken pancit was a full tray and it was packed! We all ate from it, one or two helpings but it was still 75% full by the end of the night :P We had approximately 25 people at our party and this was plenty of food for the evening and enough for every family to take home a full meal for the next day. I also ordered halo halo, which were pretty and very delicious. I appreciated the care they took to label each item, even the sauces. Plus they offer delivery (depending on the distance). Be advised! This is a food hall where many restaurants operate from so wait times are a little bit up there. I waited 30-40 minutes for my food. Next time, will order way ahead of time before picking up. With that being said, a little pricy but I have to say the wait was worth it. Despite the wait, I will give 5 stars for the food. Lumpia were small but very good and addicting. The sisig was delicious, especially with the spiced vinegar (ask for it on the side). Lastly, the star of the show was the Kare Kare with crispy pork. I had just flown in to Oakland Airport and was craving some Filipino comfort food after a long day of travel. I would've loved to rate this place higher on the scale unfortunately their ordering system needs some work and resulted in me waiting at the pick up location for 30 mins after the Yelp app said my order was ready for pick up. Not to mention, during this 30 minute window, I kept trying to call the number listed for Tipunan and it went straight to voicemail each time, and I kept trying to "notify" someone via the iPad in the lobby of the pick up area so that hopefully someone could come and I could talk to them about my order, but no one from Tipunan ever came, which resulted in me walking away unfulfilled, unsatisfied and empty handed. I was craving for some Filipino food and we decided to try out Tipunan. I am ngl I chose this spot because I was extremely intrigued by the longanisa bun on their menu. We ordered takeout from Tipunan via DoorDash and the food came fairly quickly. We ordered: - Crispy fried pork belly/Lechon Kawali; 5/5 it was really good and it came with quite a lot. Not too fatty or oily and it was very crispy. - Tocino Chicken; 4.5/5 really enjoyed the flavor however it was a little too oily for me. - Shanghai Lumpia; 5/5 very delicious, crispy and great portion! Appreciate that they included some sauce with it. - Chicken Siopao; 5/5 exceeded my expectations. The bun size was much bigger than I thought it was going to be. I was worried about the ratio being more bun than filling but was pleasantly surprised at how much chicken filling they put in. The chicken filling was very flavorful and saucy, which went well with the bun. - Longanisa Bun; 5/5 was amazing and surprised I hadn't seen or had this before! Food was descent, not worth it. I went on a Saturday and did not realize it was not an actual restaurant, hardly any interaction with people. The ambiance is not nice, and not even that homey feel when you eat culturally rich foods. I ordered there and decided to wait and was told it would be a 25 minute order and then after the time, I was told it would another 19 minutes. I told a worker that that would be 50 minutes waiting for an order and told me that they were packed. Mind you after 30 minutes, we were the only ones waiting in the lobby. I get they have online orders, but expecting people to wait 50 minutes for an order is ridiculous. I got three orders of rice, an egg, and Filipino sausage. One noodle dish and lumpia. Nilaga is essential for survival, especially the stuff *they* make (I don't talk about this with my mother). I liked to add bok choy and always used the calamansi soy sauce. First, they changed the menu options so that you had to choose just two of the vegetables (impossible! nilaga is tricolore), then it just disappeared... This place used to be the mothership for solitary (gen X?) filipinos in this town of lumpia blunts, g-shock chicken wings, and whatnot. There used to be mung beans, dinuguan, sinigang, even spaghetti with hot dogs! Now, they seem to have succumbed and only offer the popular stuff, stuff that I can't put into a pot and eat all day with rice from my own cooker. I hope it all comes back, someday! Also, they are slow in service and I believe it's because they're cooked to order so I don't mind at all if my food is going to be fresh. The tocino is litty!!! Juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious!!! The lumpia is hittin' too. Tipunan is just an all around wonderful spot for some cheap and tasty Filipino eats. I made an attempt last year to try this spot, but I didn't know that you could only order ahead/online at the time and they were swamped with orders. This time around, I ordered from them through Doordash and both my employee and I loved our silogs. It was another instance of being stuck in the office due to short staffing, so a Doordash lunch was in order that day. I had been meaning to try Tipunan for a while and I got excited when I saw that they were a Doordash option. I convinced my employee who had never had Filipino food before to try it. I love that Tipunan serves breakfast all day because silogs are one of my favorite Filipino food dishes. I also love anything pork related when it comes to Filipino food, so I knew I was gonna have either the longanisa or the tocino. We both ended up getting tocilogs and lumpia Shanghai. Everything was packaged well and we had no issues with the Doordash delivery. The tocino was sooo scrumptious! It arrived warm and glistening and was also very tender. The sweetness of tocino is my favorite, and the flavors were so on point here. The lumpia was also very tasty. I appreciated that they left one side of the container open to vent so that they'd stay crispy and wouldn't get soggy from that steam. The silog came with fluffy garlic rice and perfectly cooked over easy eggs. I added tomatoes and vinegar to mine but they did cost extra. It wasn't too much more in cost, but usually tomatoes are automatically included with silogs (in my experience), so I found it odd that there was an extra charge for this and the vinegar. Nevertheless, the meal was delicious and the portions were filling. For the price, this is honestly a really great deal. We decided to try something new instead of eating what we usually do. Big mistake. I ordered spaghetti, I truly don't know what kind of spaghetti I was given.. it tasted like the cheapest spaghettios is of my life. Like legit a can of spaghettios from the store tasted better than this spaghetti. I also got lumpia. That was the only highlight, it wasn't great but it was good! My boyfriend ordered the adobo chicken with an egg over rice. By the pictures you can see how sad the meal looked. Chicken wasn't seasoned well, rice and egg was regular. To set expectations for others, you order your food on a digital kiosk and then you go up to a window once your number is called. If you want to try it, I would use one of the mobile order apps to order and have them deliver the food to you. It's full of tofu, eggplant, green beans, and cabbage and has so much flavor. Idk something about eating a dish made with a whole jar of peanut butter is sooooo satisfying. So I finally tried this place out. It located at them ghost kitchen place under the overpasses in Oakland. The place is always pack w delivery driver so getting a parking spot was not easy. I think the wait time for my order was around 45 minutes maybe. I had their crispy pork belly w sunny side egg over garlic rice. The crispy pork belly was good for the first few bites, but it does get a bit greasy after a while. Mixing the spice vinegar and the sweet n sour sauce does help a bit. I wish there was some spicy sauce too. The pork lumpia was small n cute, but it was a bit soft. Not sure why. I wish it was crispy on the outside. As a doordasher this place is great! Large servings, and good food, what else do you need? I work in surgery, so what I do is I order as I'm dressing out from work and by the time I leave hospital, get home, the food is already at the door. There is not enough good things I can say about Tipunan food, service, and hospitality - JUST GO HERE! This is some of the best food I've had in a while - period. And Filipino comfort food on top of that makes it even better. Everything we had was bursting with flavors and the extra sauces on the side were bomb. This place is amazing! I had ordered from Bentocart and I'm so glad I tried it. You have to get the kare kare. It has great chunks of beef, in a stew with peanut and eggplant.
