I had just flown in to Oakland Airport and was craving some Filipino comfort food after a long day of travel. I would've loved to rate this place higher on the scale unfortunately their ordering system needs some work and resulted in me waiting at the pick up location for 30 mins after the Yelp app said my order was ready for pick up. Not to mention, during this 30 minute window, I kept trying to call the number listed for Tipunan and it went straight to voicemail each time, and I kept trying to "notify" someone via the iPad in the lobby of the pick up area so that hopefully someone could come and I could talk to them about my order, but no one from Tipunan ever came, which resulted in me walking away unfulfilled, unsatisfied and empty handed. Although the sign on the counter says not to whistle or catcall, and that "our team is committed to serving you", the sign is a lie. No one will come.

Lumpia way too small, $1 what

The food portions are very small. Complete ripoff. Needs to be twice as thick and twice as long. What you see in the pictures is $1 for one, 50$ for those two boxes. Also got the rice plates, 20$ each. Not enough to be full on one. Taste is good but not good enough to justify the price. Better to just go to seafood City and get the same amount for half the price.

I was craving for some Filipino food and we decided to try out Tipunan. I am ngl I chose this spot because I was extremely intrigued by the longanisa bun on their menu. We ordered takeout from Tipunan via DoorDash and the food came fairly quickly. We ordered: - Crispy fried pork belly/Lechon Kawali; 5/5 it was really good and it came with quite a lot. Not too fatty or oily and it was very crispy. - Tocino Chicken; 4.5/5 really enjoyed the flavor however it was a little too oily for me. - Shanghai Lumpia; 5/5 very delicious, crispy and great portion! Appreciate that they included some sauce with it. - Chicken Siopao; 5/5 exceeded my expectations. The bun size was much bigger than I thought it was going to be. I was worried about the ratio being more bun than filling but was pleasantly surprised at how much chicken filling they put in. The chicken filling was very flavorful and saucy, which went well with the bun. - Longanisa Bun; 5/5 was amazing and surprised I hadn't seen or had this before! It was a delicious and really great handheld snack. Was a dish I never knew I needed, highly recommend! Will definitely be trying this spot again! If you're looking for Filipino food, I highly recommend Tipunan - you have to try the longanisa bun!

Tipunan offered me a refund for my salty chicken dish, and today I received it. I actually like your food, but the one particular dish was way too salty for my diet. So I will order from your ghost chicken again, just not that dish. Happy Thanksgiving, and Support Local Business!

So they continue to impress me omg! If you want crispy pork, this place makes crispy pork. I have no idea what other companies are doing but this is the bar for crispy pork. OMG and the vinegar sauce is amazing. Everything was amazing. The lumpia was good. I look forward to eating here when I come into town. I will always eat here at least once. The trip wouldn't be complete otherwise. I was upset I couldn't get a spaghetti to go on the plane because of my time constraints. Lol. Ugh! So good! And I know they didn't make the brownie, but it was good too lol #Perfection

    Lumpia Shanghai (Pork) - Tasty!

The tocino is litty!!! Juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious!!! The lumpia is hittin' too. Tipunan is just an all around wonderful spot for some cheap and tasty Filipino eats. I made an attempt last year to try this spot, but I didn't know that you could only order ahead/online at the time and they were swamped with orders. This time around, I ordered from them through Doordash and both my employee and I loved our silogs. It was another instance of being stuck in the office due to short staffing, so a Doordash lunch was in order that day. I had been meaning to try Tipunan for a while and I got excited when I saw that they were a Doordash option. I convinced my employee who had never had Filipino food before to try it. I love that Tipunan serves breakfast all day because silogs are one of my favorite Filipino food dishes. I also love anything pork related when it comes to Filipino food, so I knew I was gonna have either the longanisa or the tocino. We both ended up getting tocilogs and lumpia Shanghai. Everything was packaged well and we had no issues with the Doordash delivery. The tocino was sooo scrumptious! It arrived warm and glistening and was also very tender. The sweetness of tocino is my favorite, and the flavors were so on point here. The lumpia was also very tasty. I appreciated that they left one side of the container open to vent so that they'd stay crispy and wouldn't get soggy from that steam. The silog came with fluffy garlic rice and perfectly cooked over easy eggs. I added tomatoes and vinegar to mine but they did cost extra. It wasn't too much more in cost, but usually tomatoes are automatically included with silogs (in my experience), so I found it odd that there was an extra charge for this and the vinegar. Nevertheless, the meal was delicious and the portions were filling. For the price, this is honestly a really great deal. My employee loved the tocilog too, and this was her first time ever having any kind of Filipino food.

OMG. This is definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall places that completely surprises you…read more We came here because our friend Warren recommended it, and now I understand why. It's tucked away in Oakland in a spot you might easily drive past without noticing. The setup is simple: order at the window, get a vibrating pager, then pick up your food when it's ready. They also have outdoor seating, which is perfect if you're bringing your dog along. They offer all kinds of silog meals, and honestly, before coming here, I thought all silog places were pretty much the same. While standing in line, I had no clue what to order. The special that day was the G Fire Short Ribs, and I kept going back and forth between trying something new or playing it safe. I ended up getting the pork tocino silog, and for the second dish, I almost ordered the spare short ribs. Thank God I got the G Fire Wings instead. OMG. OMG. OMG. These are hands down the BEST wings I've had in the Bay Area. The skin is crispy and crunchy, but the moment you bite in, the meat is unbelievably juicy. Seriously, when do you ever get wings that are actually juicy? Most wings are dry. Not these. The flavor, the sauce, the seasoning--everything is absolutely incredible. It's the kind of food that makes you lick every finger afterward. If it were socially acceptable to eat the bones too, I probably would have. And here's the funny thing: while I was in line, it seemed like everyone ordering was getting the G Fire Wings. Now I know why. If this place were closer to where I live, I'd be here all the time. I'm still thinking about those wings days later. The good news is we go to Oakland at least once a month for hiking and camping, and now Lucky Three Seven is officially part of the tradition. It'll either be our reward after finishing a hike or our stop before heading to camp. Thank you, Warren, for recommending this place. You absolutely nailed it. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 (simple, casual, outdoor pet-friendly seating) Parking: Street parking; may take a little patience depending on the time of day.

Other reviewers had mentioned a line upon opening, so we made sure to arrive 15 minutes before they open, but on this Friday morning, there was no one else but us. Our server was friendly, polite, and soft spoken. Their menu is quite small, which I appreciate. There's appetizers, sides, brunch, and dinner -- all on 1 page. Their food was outstanding, with rich flavors and beautifully presented with sauces and pickled radishes. We ordered... + Shanghai Lumpia - these were long, crispy, and properly filled + Daing Na Bangus Silog - deep fried milkfish with salad, garlic rice, and sunny egg. One of our favorites. + Fried Chicken (4-piece) - perfectly crispy and juicy. There's some warm spices in the batter, maybe all-spice. + Adobo fried rice - the pork was so tender, it shreds on your fork. This had a good amount of tanginess that was so good. + Pancit Sotanghon - not your typical pancit. The chopped veggies in this had an almost charred flavor that made the dish so interesting. There was not a bad dish. I definitely recommend this for elevated Filipino food that's not pretentious, with a modern, hip vibe.

No one acted annoyed or inconvenienced that we came in so late, and everything tasted fresh and made to order. The service, though... that's really where it shined. I wish I had everyone's name so I could thank them individually. I actually had fun--at a restaurant--spending money. Everyone was so nice. Conveniently located inside the Kimpton Alton Hotel near Fisherman's Wharf, ABACÁ takes familiar Filipino flavors and dishes and gets really creative with them. As a Filipino, I love seeing the food I grew up with presented in such a unique, gourmet way while still keeping the flavors that make Filipino food so damn good in the first place. When we last went, my absolute favorite was their housemade noodles with squid ink and adobo. SO GOOD. The noodles were rich, savory, packed with flavor, and had pieces of squid throughout. Easily the standout dish of the night for me, and I would come back for that alone! I'm not sure if it's still on the menu since their offerings change, but if you ever see it, GET IT. They also have some secret menu items, including BALUT! If you know, you know. Definitely only for the brave if you've never had it before! I thought it was such a fun touch, especially for anyone who wants to get a little more adventurous with Filipino food. Overall, ABACÁ is such a great representation of how diverse Filipino cuisine can be. It still feels familiar and authentic, but they aren't afraid to play around with the flavors and presentation. I was delighted to find a Michelin Recommended Filipino restaurant within easy walking distance of…read moremy hotel, so I decided to try several different things: the Ube-Colada, Sisig Fried Rice because everyone seemed to say "get it," a pork lumpia spring roll, and the Wagyu dumplings. I ordered the virgin Ube-Colada. It was a beautiful purple color, refreshing, and lighter on the coconut flavor than I expected. The Sisig Fried Rice definitely isn't Chinese-style fried rice, which was fine with me because I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of the flavor or the crispy bits of pork. I guess I fail as an honorary Filipino. The pork lumpia spring roll, however, was very good. And then came the standout star of my meal: the Wagyu dumplings. The waiter used a mini blow torch to heat the Wagyu - that certainly got my attention. These were unlike any dumplings I had eaten before. Two large, very thin slices of Wagyu beef were served in a flavorful tomato-based broth with wonderfully soft, pillowy potato dumplings containing a rich, almost creamy center. I would order these again without hesitation. My waitress was very sweet and welcoming, which I especially appreciated since I was dining by myself. I had an early reservation when the restaurant was still fairly quiet, but the tables filled up after I arrived, so I recommend making a reservation. One useful tip for finding the restaurant: look for the entrance down the stairs marked Kimpton. Enter through that door, and the restaurant is on your right. Not everything I tried was for me, but that's part of the fun of trying a cuisine you're less familiar with. I came away with a new favorite--the Wagyu dumplings--and appreciated the warm hospitality.
