    Lamb curry with potatoes .
    Denzel T.

I hadn't been to Pintoh Thai in years, so when I saw that they were offering a pre-fixe for Oakland restaurant week I knew I had to check them out again! I ended up going with their crispy papaya salad for my appetizer, the lamb shank curry, and ice cream for dessert. The crispy papaya salad was interesting since I had never had the dish prepared in that manner. It came with an excellent dipping sauce that provided some salt and acid to balance things out. The lamb curry was awesome! Hearty, meaty, with a flavorful and creamy base. The roti was also a great side which provided a nice buttery and fluffy touch to my main. My meal also came with coconut ice cream, but I passed that to my friends to avoid the dairy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a great time at Pintoh. Our servers were nice, the ambience and vibes were colorful and on point.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check them out if you're looking for some Thai food with a twist.

ORW26' brought me here and I had a pleasant 3 course dinner with my mom at Pintoh Thai. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance here is colorful, vibrant and each corner is beautifully decorated with South East Asia kitchenary items.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staffs were friendly and efficient during my visit, quick service and took good care of my table. It was happy hour, so we also tried their Lycheetini and O-leng Martini, both were really well-made. For appetizers, we picked Hoi-Jor (Fried Pork Dumpling with Crab) & Somtum Tod (Fried Papaya Salad), we both love the Hoi-Jor - the portion was generous and the sauce underneath was delicious. I usually enjoy the regular fresh Somtum so this fried version did took me by surprised, the shrimp served with it was fresh and juicy, a fun dish to try. We picked Kanom Jeen Nam Ya Pu (Rice Noodle with Crab Curry & Lobster Tail) and Khao Pad Neua Yang (Char-Grilled Sirloin Steak with Fried Rice) for Entree. The Khao Pad Neua Yang was really good, I love the marinated egg yolk with soy sauce that was serve together with it, steak was tender and the rice was so flavorful, totally recommended this dish. On the other hand, the Kanom Jeen Nam Ya Pu did not wow me, the presentation was beautiful but it quite lack of flavors. The lobster tail was surely fresh but not worth 9$ extra on top of the $45/person prix fixe tasting imo. For dessert, I-Tim Boran is the only pick, this is a Thai-style ice cream with purple sticky rice and various toppings likes jello and fruits, all serve together on top of a sweet bun. Tbh, I personally feel this one is very mid, in compare with all the items on the menu that was carefully crafted with a vision, this one just not up to it. Maybe it was the store bought vanilla ice cream taste or maybe it was the variety of toppings that not compliment each others well... But instead of such a complicated desserts with complex texture and flavor, I guess I would rather end my meal with a simple scoop (or two) of a type of ice cream that would represent Thai's flavor and cuisine likes Thai Tea or Coconut. Overall, beside the dessert, it was a good experience at Pintoh Thai for me. Honestly this is the first time I visit a Thai restaurant without ordering a Pad Thai, guess I have to make a come back to check it out!

Went for ORW26' and was throughly satisfied with my three course meal. The highlight was their spin on a papaya salad. It reminded me of a deconstructed salad where the papaya was fried crispy & the string beans were fresh. The salad was topped with two well cooked shrimp and the generous portion of sauce, which came on the side was flavorful. This salad alone has motivated me to come back. I also got a sirloin steak paired with garlic rice which came with an egg and a soy sauce mixture which I poured over the rice - Absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, and although I don't typically enjoy eating raw eggs, it paired perfectly with the rice. The dessert was OK - ice cream on top of a would seemed like a Hawaiian roll with purple sticky rice on the side and also a few pieces of mango. Overall 10 out of 10 experience. The staff were attentive which made the overall experience even more enjoyable.

I went to Pintoh Thai with a group of friends on a Friday night around 8pm. The host asked if we had a reservation, and since we didn't, I was fully prepared for a long wait. Luckily, we only ended up waiting about 15 minutes. I'd recommend making a reservation if you can, but if not, you might get lucky like we did. We ordered the Moo Ping and the Khao Pad Pu. Both dishes were delicious and flavorful, though they needed just a little more salt for our taste. Thankfully, the sauces that came with the dishes added that extra punch and balanced everything out really well. I also ordered the lavender mojito. I didn't really taste much lavender, but it was still a solid drink overall. Based on how good these dishes were, I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

Roti was crispy but a oily we removed the oil with the napkin but could still tatste it

I had a craving for pad seew so decided to venture DT Oakland to check out this place base on Yelp suggestion. Sadly they ran out of wide noodles and offered to make it with thin rice noodles instead. There goes my main reason for Thai food craving was shot. I suppose the universe said no Pad Seew for you. So I ordered pad Thais instead. We also got the Som Tum ( they said the spicy is Thai spicy, so medium was hot enough for me) I find the food was tasty, traditional but a bit on a sweeter side. Lots of strong flavor and taste. You would definitely need rice with it. I also wanted to try the longan juice, 2 for 2 they also sold out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Table could used a bit of deep wipe down as it was a bit sticky on the plastic cover, street style very Thai casual vibe[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Got the vegan pineapple fried rice and server asked if I'm ok with tofu and vegetables to which I said yes, however they didn't put any tofu in there. Pineapple fried rice was ok, nothing special. Thai iced tea was really good! Overall the price does not justify the taste at all.

Pintoh Thai is the real deal. We hit this spot on a Sunday evening, and the vibe was exactly what the crew needed to end the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is a little narrow in certain sections, but the decor gives it an authentic feel that sets it apart from those overly polished, generic spots.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It feels like a place that actually respects the culture it's representing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the Pad Brussels Sprouts, and honestly, that secret sauce and fried garlic combo is elite. Usually, sprouts are hit or miss, but these were savory, crisp, and gone in minutes. For the main, I locked in on the Khao Soi Short Rib over noodles. The meat was incredibly tender--no effort required--and the broth had that rich, deep flavor profile that you only get when a kitchen actually takes its time. The whole experience was smooth, and the food was top-tier without being pretentious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a solid, laid-back environment with authentic flavors that justify the visit every time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely a five-star run.

Lycheetini (back) and Lavender Mojito (front)

My friend and I had an amazing dinner at Thai! We ordered a mix of cocktails and food that came out in a timely manner: the Lycheetini, Lavender Mojito, Peek Gai Tod, Pad See Ew with pork, and Khao Soi Gai. Both the cocktails were our top choices and did not disappoint. While the Lavender Mojito had a stronger alcoholic and floral taste, the Lycheetini was light, fruity, and refreshing. The Peek Gai Tod (crispy wings) were perfectly fried, juicy, and crunchy! The Pad See Ew with pork portion size was generous, and while the noodles weren't the greatest, it was still a great comfort dish! The Khao Soi Gai had everything packed into this soupy dish, with a good balance of spice and coconut. Service was less attentive as the restaurant got busier throughout the night, but still good service!

Huge portions and great food for very reasonable price. There are some specific items that are pretty good like the khao soi. Definitely recommend checking them out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is also very cool and reminds me of spots in Thailand[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pretty neat find. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating is really close and intimate and the vibe is very city.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a pretty extensive menu with drinks and other options. They sell merch and have pictures on the wall. Service is solid. I was part of a part of 5+ and they were cool with splitting checks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The table we sat at in the front was right next to the door, so that's just something to keep in mind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The rolls were really good and flavorful. I ordered the fried chicken and it was okay. The outside was soggy, but it also had a bit of curry flavor. My soup was lacking flavor as well. Overall, decent.

Khao Soi and Khao Pad Kang Kiew
    Alex H.

I was looking for a khao soi restaurant in the area and saw this place had "standout khao soi" and was super excited! Unfortunately, it took me 20 minutes to find parking because of all the construction around the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived, we were seated in the corner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server quickly took our drink order and said he'd return to complete the rest of our order. I guess it was a busy night because for the next 15 minutes, we watched parties that came after us get served their food :( Perhaps it's because we were in the corner but the server and host made eye contact with us numerous times before finally taking our food order... As for the food itself, the khao soi was alright. The noodles are clumped together, a sign of it being overcooked. The curry sauce lacks a bit of depth and spice which can be fixed with some chili oil. The fried rice was decent. Nothing really memorable. The green Thai tea was very sweet, even after asking to add more milk. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the service and food. Given how many Thai restaurants are in the area, this didn't standout for me.

    Beef Pad See Ew
    Gerard Y.

Ordered Beef Pad See Ew. It was a little more in price for the beer over pork but I thought it was worth it. A good and equal amount of noodles and beef. It was around dinner time (7pm) and it wasn't too busy inside so my food came out relatively quickly.

    Cathy B.

Came here last night for dinner for ORW'25. They were the only restaurant that had a last min reservation so why not. Glad we made a reservation because they were packed and remain busy until closing Their restaurant week menu was pretty good 3 course for ~$45 per person. If you get certain dish there's an additional. We ended up getting the crab and pork siu mai (8/10, sauce was good, lots of crab)thing, the crispy papaya salad (10/10, best thing I ate at this place), the khao soi rib (7/10, needs more flavor), lobster and crab rice noodle (7/10, also need more flavor) and a couple pies for dessert a mango and chocolate and both were phenomenal They were busy so the service was kinda slow but the servers were nice so that made up for it. May be will be back when craving that crispy papaya salad! Worth it for ORW

But it was not full throughout the time we were at the restaurants. Experience: Food came out pretty fast and it was hot(!). Overall, service was good and they checked in on us a few times to make sure all is good. Food: - Nam Khao was fantastic. Crispy rice, the mixed minced vegetables, and the cooked sausage. Together with the lime that you can squeeze to preference, it was delicious! Haven't had Nam Khao this delicious in a while! - Pad See Ew with pork was alright. It was cooked well and a little on the sweeter side rather than savory, but missing the smoky flavor "wok hei" that would take this to the next level that I love. - Fried Sweet Fish was alright too. Fish is fried with a very thin batter but it had black pepper which my kids doesn't want as they're sensitive to anything spicy. The fish had a light fishy taste to it (fresh water fish) which would be better if they even use a little ginger to cut the fishy taste for a better taste. - Guay Tiew is very similar to Pad See Ew with the exception that it had a fried egg on the top and had seafood (shrimp and squid). - Vientiane Crispy Roll is different from regular egg rolls. Made with rice paper roll so it was crispy but also chewy, which is different and may not be what everyone is used to. Will return to try out other dishes.

Along with their housemade sauce and a cup with chicken broth. It looked promising, but the meat was unfortunately dry as if it was left in the steamer too long. To offset this hazard, I prefer either a dark meat option or a mix of both white and dark. There was no dark meat on my plate.
