    Garlic Chicken

Why is it always the case that random hole in the wall restaurants are so darn good? Besides being far and few between, Gai Noi hits! Was visiting the office today and off on a random stroll. Intrigued, I walked in because the place was pretty packed, so obviously I had to investigate what type of shenanigans was happening. Surprise surprise! I ordered the garlic chicken and it didn't even survive 2 mins. I demolished it. Sure fire spot for a quick grab to eat. Portion size was perfect. Not too much, not too little. I did enjoy the side of veggies to accompany the savory chicken. Yup! Definitely coming here again when I have to go into the office.

Food is amazing. Flavor is on point. I just love the food here. Probably have order from here a week straight. And love that Thai Iced tea.

GaiNoi opened where Saap Wing once was. An hole in the wall with 2 tables for dine in. Sparse decor. Basically take out. Steady flow of patrons. Offerings: appetizers, fried rice, Khao Man Gai, rice bowl, noodle, desserts.. Drill: order at counter, pay, food ready in 10ish minutes. Bites: spicy eggplant (13.95) -abundant serving of fresh tasting white rice to soak up gravy from eggplant & eaten with same. -fresh eggplant pieces, slightly stir fried with chicken, intermixed with red & green bell peppers, basil, chili pods. Tasty, worthy! 4.5 stars. Metered parking nearby.

I live next to this restaurant, and it is one of my favorites in the neighborhood. The food is very flavorful and generally healthy as well. I can tell they use fresh ingredients and prepare every dish with care. I usually go for the Thai Basil with tofu - served with bell pepper, garlic, and a fried egg on top. The staff here is very friendly as well. The restaurant is small, but there are a few seats available.

The curry was quite good and reasonable prices as well. I ordered a slightly less common Thai dish and it was very interesting to try and came with lots of different ingredients. They allow you to choose spice level as well so I got it just how I like. There wasn'ta lot of seating space though so keep that in mind. We were able to combine two tables to seat 4. The waiter was very nice and helpful when we had questions. Good place for a quick bite.

Very fortunate to have stumbled across GaiNoi. I've visited a few times now & while I want to try more food items I just can't get over the Udon Pad Tom Yum with beef (+$2). Great portion size & savory veggies to accompany the meat & noodles. The service time for walk-ins is pretty reasonable during lunch hours. The location is smaller and while I've been there you can only comfortably sit 2 people at a table - I do hope this restaurant gets more traction to move to a larger area.

I loved the food here! Khao Mun Gai is one of my favorite dishes and theirs was very tasty. I asked for dark meat and the skin on chicken thigh was perfectly poached and juicy! The ginger garlic rice complemented the dish well, the fermented soybean sauce was super flavorful and the cucumber and greens were fresh. Calamari was a bit overcooked with some tough bites, but overall good. I'll be back when I'm in Oakland!

In the are ding business so I tried GaiNoi. Only a few people in the restaurant at 1pm on a Friday. Looking over the menu they have a lot of dishes I haven't heard of before and must try next time. I opted for pad see ew with beef. My dish was delivered to my table in about 5 minutes piping hot. Flavor was great, portion was just the right size. Maybe a little heavy on the soy sauce. Overall, a great place for a quick lunch.

It looks like a simple dish but many just don't do it right... until we got to trying this one. The chicken was so delicious and moist. Their dipping sauces were chef's kiss It is the closest I've found to being comparable to Rooster and rice. And those fried chicken skin? Mm.. chips but tastier.. and it comes in a big ass box.

I don't think any of us nailed our main entree. I got Chicken Pad Thai "Thai spicy" it was not spicy at all. It also wasn't smoky, wok flavored. Just kinda of lightly sweet. Khao Man Gai Tod was like a thin katsu type chicken. Rice and chicken. Green Curry smelled very good. Garlic Ginger rice was the second best thing we had. The best being the mango and sticky rice. Best mango I have ever very had. Will be back to try Yellow curry and maybe the ramen.

Ordered to go, the food was decent. Pad Thai was good, but some of the noodles were dry. The yellow curry was good and the chicken satay was delicious! We had sticky rice with mango for dessert that was good. I really liked the Thai iced tea because it came in a bottle and they gave us ice cup.

I found this place by accident while driving around the side streets of downtown Oakland. My GPS told me to flip a left turn on 19th St from Franklin, and I found myself in front of Gai Noi. What a cool looking storefront! Decided on some Chicken & Rice takeout and some Egg Rolls. Well, to be exact, it was: - Khao Man Gai, mixed white/dark meat, skin on - Crispy Egg Rolls, 5 pcs I've been to several chicken and rice places, and Gai Noi does something different. My KMG was a balanced meal. It had chopped pieces of chicken, moist rice, and then a small salad. If you go here expecting a big slab of chopped chicken on rice with a few pieces of veggies for decoration, well you will be disappointed. Oh, the eggrolls were crispy, with shredded carrots and cabbage inside. This is a place that would probably be good for lunch or simple dinner. I'll be back to try other dishes

We all split all the specialty cocktails and I got the Khao Pad Kang Kiew (rice with eggplant and chicken topped with a fried egg). Dishes are $20-23 ish each. We were seated at the 6 person table in the back of the restaurant near the bathroom. My favorite drinks were their take on a hard thai iced tea, the lavender mojito, a take on an espresso martini. There was also this spicy drink that had thai chilis in it that is VERY spicy lol. Pros: - the rice dish was DELICIOUS and also huge haha. Came with cucumbers to cut the peppery flavor if needed. - All the cocktails were pretty different and it was fun to try all of them. They were all beautiful to look at and tasty (lots of coconut and Thai inspiration). - Service was pretty good - Has "typical" thai dishes like pad thai and pad see ew, and also more rare ones that are hard to find - Close to many bars and other establishments, so perfect if you want to eat here as a first, second, or third location of your outing haha Cons: - The air flow in the back wasn't amazing so I did feel like it got stuffy/hot - Parking can be tough in this area so I recommend BARTing Another reason to love Oakland!

Unfortunately it was too spicy for my liking and some of the white rice was burnt from the being at the bottom of the pot. There was only 8 eggplant pieces in the entire dish and surprisingly a lot more chicken. So depending on your preference this may be a good thing! I was really craving the sweet, earthy flavor of eggplant so while lots of protein was greatly appreciated I did wish there was more eggplant in the dish. Either way it was a good portion of food so they don't skimp here for sure! The service was friendly and super attentive the moment you walk in. I'd be willing to try another non spicy dish here.

Some personal standouts are the kor moo yang (grilled pork jowl), grilled beef short rib, mok pa (steamed catfish), and the Lao-style papaya salad -- which is perfectly spicy and packed with flavor. But it was not full throughout the time we were at the restaurants. Experience: Food came out pretty fast and it was hot(!). Overall, service was good and they checked in on us a few times to make sure all is good. Food: - Nam Khao was fantastic. Crispy rice, the mixed minced vegetables, and the cooked sausage. Together with the lime that you can squeeze to preference, it was delicious! Haven't had Nam Khao this delicious in a while! - Pad See Ew with pork was alright. It was cooked well and a little on the sweeter side rather than savory, but missing the smoky flavor "wok hei" that would take this to the next level that I love. - Fried Sweet Fish was alright too. Fish is fried with a very thin batter but it had black pepper which my kids doesn't want as they're sensitive to anything spicy. The fish had a light fishy taste to it (fresh water fish) which would be better if they even use a little ginger to cut the fishy taste for a better taste. - Guay Tiew is very similar to Pad See Ew with the exception that it had a fried egg on the top and had seafood (shrimp and squid). - Vientiane Crispy Roll is different from regular egg rolls. Made with rice paper roll so it was crispy but also chewy, which is different and may not be what everyone is used to. Will return to try out other dishes.

I missed photos of the main entrees enjoying our time and honestly not sure what we ordered as we paid with a kiosk and didn't get a printed receipt even thought I typed in my email.. so that's frustrating with technology. If you want a receipt have it printed before you leave. My friend had a spicy eggplant dish and I had a tofu dish with rice and no fish sauce. Wish I could be more descriptive but can't say without an itemized receipt.. doesn't matter though, was all amazing flavors for both my friend (who travels and has worldly palette, and my self with a broad pallet only within the US) Flavors were amazing and service was on par. I did have an issue at first with the first server saying Pad Thai could be done with tofu and no fish sauce so I was excited, but then the next server said it was already mixed and not able to accommodate, but did find me an alternative I found flavorful with veggies, though missed having the peanuts in my dish. I had Pad See You instead without meat or fish sauce. Service overall was wonderful, attentive and didn't have to wait for anything. They did close and allowed us to stay on the patio visiting long after. Would be happy to return again.. Between our group, we got Sakoo, Nam Khao, Fried Clear Rice Roll Wraps, Sai Oua (Lao Sausages), Crispy Pork Belly, Pad Kee Mao, and a large side of Sticky Rice. There were so many layers of flavors and textures from the fish sauce, the peanuts, and the fermented sour pork. If there's one dish you must order when you stop by here, it's this one. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Sai Oua; I get this dish whenever I see it at restaurants. Although I've had Lao sausages which were very heavy in lemongrass flavor, the ones here did not have the same flavor profile. Instead, the ones here leaned more towards the spicy side. The crispy pork belly was another standout dish for me. If you enjoy Filipino lechon or Cantonese siu yuk, this is another must-order dish. The pork is well seasoned and has the perfect ratio of lean to fatty parts. Overall, I had wonderfully delicious meal. I would certainly recommend coming as a large group so you're able to order a wide variety of dishes. If you're looking for something to really excite your taste buds, head over to Bhan Mae Vane.

This is our go-to Restaurant, this year for Thanksgiving & Christmas both. Friends who joined us were impressed with the food & were very interested to know the name & location of this restaurant. Now my In-Laws like to order Take Out more often, and they always want to order Thai food! It used to be they wanted Indian food, which we love but truly had not found satisfactory in the past. I'm so glad because Thai Taste Kitchen doesn't disappoint! They have been impeccable about marking the containers & even packaging meat vs vegetarian items in separate bags, and they allow specifics like "no shrimp paste" or whatever, more of "this" or none of "that". White Rice included free with entrees thst are not noodle or rice based, and if you prefer individual instead of family style, you can add an appetizer to each entree individually for about $5-$6, which is about the same as splitting an appetizer order in half, but sometimes people prefer a different appetizer. I like to avoid fried foods, for example, but others love egg rolls or fried chicken (was that an appetizer or an entree?) Thai Iced Tea comes in one size only, and it's small, but consider the calories. This is probably best in small size & I was thoroughly satisfied, I had not indulged for many, many years and it was so delicious. If possible, get it with no ice so it doesn't melt on the way to your destination, you can add your own ice once you get there. Tbh, I started drinking it immediately & finished it in about 10 min, since my husband was driving. Treat yourselves & I think you'll be really glad you found this place. One caveat, they are short staffed so keep that in mind if you eat in the restaurant, I believe only one person is serving tables and may also handle the register, so it may require patience. The beauty of Take Out is we can set out a buffet, everyone grabs a plate & chooses ehat they like, and we can reheat warm items in the microwave in about a minute, and it tastes it's best hot.
