We were the only dine-in customers at the time, although they had a steady stream of takeout orders coming through. Despite that, all of our food arrived quickly and everything was organized perfectly. Our server was incredibly friendly and seemed to be handling the entire dining room on his own--taking our order serving food, and the clearing table. He never seemed rushed and provided excellent service throughout the evening. We brought our own birthday dessert, and he graciously brought out plates and forks and helped us celebrate, which was a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated. The food was fresh, plentiful, and came out fast. My favorite dish of the night was the vegetable spring rolls.

Best choices were the individual Peking Duck servings and the sticky rice in lotus leaf (generous portion). Less interesting pork buns too much dough), peas shoot dumplings and veggie dumplings which were kind of chewy (wrapper). Was just a little surprised when I got the bill but was generally a good experience. Good service.

I loved how the noodle wrapping was thin and delicate, and perfectly tender, and the contents were a whole fresh shrimp rather than minced. Sadly, they didn't serve it with sauce, but it almost didn't need soy sauce. I use some from home and it just took it all the way to the next level. The potstickers arrived soggy, and it appeared that the dipping sauce which was delicious had leaked all over them, so I'm not sure what they're really like. We loved our entrée which was shrimp and scallop with vegetables and XO sauce. Everything was perfectly cooked and super fresh and generous portions. The rice was good too. 4 1/2 stars for what we ate subtract a 1/2 star for the soggy potstickers.

With so many other dim sum options in the area I knew to go with my friend's rec. I didn't want to get anything greasy or preserved meat that she can't easily digest so went with the congee, turnip cake and char siu bao buns. Came out to $14. Cash only. Not sure if the lady who took my order charged me for the bag. Food was hot and delicious. I didn't add any soy sauce to my turnip cake and it was flavorful nonetheless. Update: because they don't give you a receipt I don't know if they charged me for the bag. I got rung up yesterday and lady asks if I have a bag. I said no. Today I brought the same plastic bag back and handed it to her. Guessing they charge for bags if they ask if you have one. - Congee - 4/5, good post op food to easily digest, with protein and for hydration. - turnip cake - 5/5, no need for soy sauce. Perfectly flavorful on its own. - char siu bao - 4/5, more bready than I would like. - chicken in sweet rice wrapped in lotus leaf - 5/5, good flavor, wouldve been nice with more chicken.

This is my go to place in Walnut Creek if I crave for dim sum. The food is ok although the price is a bit higher than Oakland or SF Chinatown. I am glad to see that this place has good business during lunch since there aren't that many choices for dim sum in Walnut Creek and I want them to stay in business. The restaurant is clean but in my opinion it can use a remodel or some new furnitures. I have been coming here since it was called Shanghai Gourmet before. The decore and layout looks the same for the past 20 years.

This has happened to us before and this time it was the shrimp noodle. They also take a while to bring out your dishes, but some still come out cold? I also had lemon chicken and beef and broccoli. I expected the lemon chicken to be similar to sweet and sour chicken/pork or orange chicken where the batter/outside is fried and crispy and the chicken/pork in the center is seasoned and tender. The batter/outside was for lack of a better word "soggy" but the saucy was lemon forward with a slight tang. I'll rate it a 5/10. The beef and broccoli had a strong ginger flavor that I was a fan of, so I would rate it a 2/10. The service was fast and attentive and the restaurant itself is average not fancy and not rundown.
