The place is very nice and clean, they sanatize the tools that they use, I got the pedicure that was for $55 this was my first pedicure ever so I wasn't sure what I was in for. It was absolutely amazing and worth the $55 because they really do scrub your feet, salt scrub, lotion you, use hot stones, hot towles. I went in at 2pm and didn't get out until 5pm, had my toes and nails done in a French Gel Manicure with rhinestones I didn't even get fake nails just my regular nails the whole total came to $131.00 which was pretty expensive because there is no sign for prices just on the pedicure spa. So yes I was happy with the whole pampering and everything but I wish the price wasn't that much. Edit: After 4 days the Rhinestones fell off! That really ticked me off, wanted nice nails for a wedding, someone else on Yelp complained about this I should of listened. read more

I have been going there for years. In my opinion,Tips & Toes has gone downhill since Tom & Lily left. They ran a successful thriving salon. I called & scheduled an appointment for gel nails at 11:00am & arrived there a little before. I picked my color & was told to sit,someone would be with me " in a minute.". There were four girls there,all busy with patrons. I waited,& waited. Finally at 11:30,after waiting a half hour with no sign of anyone available to do my nails, I got up & left. From there I went to The Nail Spa where my nails were nicely done upon arrival. I will be going there from now on. When I made my appointment at Tips & Toes I was asked for my phone number & no one even bothered to call me to apologize for their lack of service. I predict it will eventually close. read more

Let me start off by saying that my pedicure was wonderful. My "manicure" was done by the only male in the salon, I assume he was the owner. I told him that the previous manicure I had was UV gel. I've had UV for about a year now and I know the only way to get them off is with a drimmel. This gentleman (for lack of a better word) proceeded to try and peel them off with an acrylic nail (ignoring that I told him they weren't regular gel, they were UV) and ripped my nail down to the skin. I asked him to stop, and that I wanted to leave. He insisted that I be charged $10 for removal of the fake nails even though my ring finger (displayed in photos) is literally ripped down to the skin and I'm bleeding. He proceeded to talk over me as I was trying to explain that I was in pain and insistent that I be charged. I will never return to this salon, solely based on his lack of empathy, unprofessionalism and demeanor. I left with uneven, rough nails, bleeding and likely to get an infection. I hardly ever leave negative reviews because I am an employee of a tip based income and I understand that their livelihood is based on this. I do not recommend you go to this nail salon, but if you do, please do not allow this man to do your nails. *response to Tom* The last thing I am is a liar. I told you I had UV on, and I also told the lady that originally booked me on the phone. NEVER have I had someone take my nails off with another acrylic nail. You took the lazy way out and decided to try and do it quicker instead of taking your time. Any fake nail will damage your original nail underneath, that was never in question. The issue with your business is that you cannot own up to hurting me. You didn't "shape" my nails. LOOK AT THEM. They're uneven! I had to cut them all the way down when I got home because of your horrendous job. Why would I stay and allow you to continue to do my nails when you started off by ripping my nail halfway down the nail bed? Absolutely absurd that you would even have the audacity to reply to me trying to make this my fault. Nails can really make a girl feel beautiful and your neglectful treatment toward me today has impacted the next week for me as I have to wait for this to heal before getting another manicure. read more

I liked my place in Waterbury but I didn't love it, but after 3 years of searching it was the best I had found. It is clean organized, aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Its updated, gorgeous pedi spa chairs. The customer service is bar none the above and beyond variety. Tom is the owner and knows his clients, their lives and they know his. When you walk in, it's like your "Cheers". But besides all that, Tom (and Im sure the others as well from the other reviews) is meticulous in his work as he pays great attention to detail. My daughter and I were in search of mani-pedis on Memorial Day and thanks to Yelp, I found this salon. I called to make sure they were open and made an appointment for an hour later. We were promptly greeted and took our time choosing colors. When we finally decided (!) we were seated next to each other in massage chairs with functioning massage (!) The "spa" pedi was $30 (ten day guarantee) for a relaxed hour+ careful scrub, wash, soak, massage and expert callous removal. Hot stone massage and warm towel wrap finished the "spa" portion and then careful application of polish followed. The manicure ($12) was equally relaxing and expertly performed. The place is spotless and relaxed, and Tom (owner), his wife Lily and Gaby were working when we were there. There seem to be loyal regulars and it's clear why. Having forgotten to change into sandals before venturing to the salon, I rued having to put my tretorns back on. I went there for a dipping powder manicure, and my experience was horrible all 10 of my nails/skin was left raw and some nails bleeding...! I will add detailed pictures...! Tom was the one who filed all of my nails after one of his staff started doing a horrible job he came in trying to fix it and made it worse...! When I told them that it wasn't fair for me to pay for being in pain the owner and wife said that my nails were fine and that it's not fair to them, extremely rude! I had a witness there with me and the lack of understanding towards the customer is actually unbelievable, then the owner said go to the doctor and send us the medical bill!!! Omg!!! I said I am trying to be reasonable and offered to pay half, but they kept insisting...! I said to them I would take it all off but my fingers burn so bad...! It took quite a long time for a regular mani-pedi. there was nail polish on parts of my toes. No ventilation so it smelled like nail polish. My mother was waiting an hour because it was a busy day. She didnt even get her mani-pedi she just wanted to leave because it was getting late. I called a day in advanced and booked and appointment with ease. Im mentioning that because sometimes you call other places and they sound rude or downright mean! We came a few minutes late and they were very welcoming. We picked our colors and sat down. WOW. They were so thorough it was unbelievable. The salon its self has classy with very modern manicure tables. It was very clean and didnt have an overwhelming acetone smell when you walk in. Unfortunately this was the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. I've specifically waited over a week to post a review because I wanted to be fair and not in the heat of the moment. Ironically, I came to this salon because I needed a TIP ON MY TOE. I thought "this has to be the perfect place". I had injured my toe many years ago and have been to MANY salons to simply have an acrylic tip. Easy. I was specific with the owner about what I needed. He was fast to say "sure, no problem"....then I proceeded to wait 45 mins in a pedicure chair. Unfortunately the woman working there are not professionally trained and are simply learning on the job. The owner is multitasking and only him and one other nail tech are able to do anything beyond a normal mani/pedi. The "specialist" came over to add my tip, but instead she started to put some clear compound on my toe. I told her I wanted and acrylic tip and she reassured me this was better and I would like better than a tip. She proceeded and put my toe under a black light and my toe started to BURN! They all disregarded my complaints. Even when they were painting my toe it was still burning. I've had gel manis many times and it can burn a little bit BUT THEY USED THE GEL COMPOUND ON MY SKIN VERSUS A NAIL. Please note that all the nail technicians speak Spanish and very little English--this was not a problem for me because I'm bilingual. All said and done, the nail tech finally told me that if I wasn't happy that I should probably leave. A bit surprised, but then I realized she was right. I had been there for over 2 hours at this point and my toe was killing me. So, I told her I was leaving. Entirely unsatisfied and in pain I went to my car. The owner came yelling at me and throwing his fist in my face saying he was calling the police. He demanded that I pay the full amount for a powder mani and pedi (my original intension), BUT after 2 hours and a burning toe I thought it reasonable to simply call it quits. The owner was verbally abusive, physically intimidating and really out of control. He started taking picture of my license plate and called the police. As an attorney myself I didn't want to leave and have him claim "theft of services" so I had no alternative but to call the police myself. The police arrived and this is simply such a waste of public resources. Even the police officer said my toe looked like a thumb (see photo). I can't warn you enough about this place. Stay away. The nail techs aren't at fault because they are just trying to make a living but the owner has a responsibility to have licensed technicians--none of them are professionally trained. I actually wonder if he pays them a human wage. He's a very bad predator. The picture says it all. And the skin on my toe was burned by the gel compound which is made for nails. read more
