    Moma's Nail SPA

I have been coming to Momas for 8-10 years- prior and new owners. In all that time i have never complained about a service or asked them to fix it. I had a gel manicure prior to heading to work conference on a friday afternoon. By Sunday both thumbs and lost half their polish. I was headed to Europe and couldn't fix the manicure but took a photo with the date stamp to show it was less than 2 days from the service. Within a week 8 nails had peeled. I went back to momas asking them to remedy and showing photo and was told i would need to pay for a new gel manicure. I was shocked and told them this was my first complaint and felt it was legitimate and would not pay to fix nails that didn't last 40 hours. The owner than raised his voice and which point I asked him not to speak to me that way, and I told him I would take my service elsewhere. I definitely miss the original owners; it's not the same. I have always paid for services and tipped well but I do expect some level of customer service. I cannot recommend this nail salon any longer.

Gift certificate without a marked expiration date

I was given this gift certificate for a birthday a few years ago. I had found it recently and saw that there was no expiration date marked. This gives me the impression that it would be accepted still. Even if this was an error on the seller's end for not marking a date, legally they should still honor the gift certificate since there was no way of knowing otherwise since it was a gift. I went in to get a pedicure today and the service was good, I'm overall satisfied with my experience. Except when I went to pay with the gift certificate, the owner refused to take it. He claimed that since he is a different owner (from 2021 onward) that he could not accept it because they use different certificates now. He claimed to not even recognize it, despite the business logo and address clearly printed and a specific call number assigned to the certificate in the top right corner. I feel that it is poor business to not honor a gift certificate that technically is not supposed to expire. I do not live in the area, and do not frequent this establishment, so there is no way I was supposed to know they're under new ownership nor that my giftcard would be invalid. By his logic, the giftcard would be invalid starting in 2021 when the new ownership began, which would mean it could have only been used for 3 months which is absurd, especially since it was not marked and I do not have the receipt for this as it was a gift. If anyone else potentially has old gift certificates, don't bother because they will not honor it. Would love to hear opinions on if this is a valid action for them to take (if they legally should've honored the gift certificate or not). Thank you!

I live in nyc and whenever I'm visiting my aunt in Connecticut I always come here - I'm super picky and Diana always does a great job - another women I really like but I forget her name. It's reasonably priced, and they're very good and taking you on time. The foot massage and shoulder massage that come with the services is a plus - that never happens in nyc!

    Gel Manicure

I have been going to moma for years but the new owners are so friendly and do a great job. Both times I've been so happy with my gel manicure and they take their time. I love the coupons, the paraffin wax, and the water bottle!

The owners are very nice- and yes, language can be difficult at times, but once you get to know Teddy and Jean you will have no problem at all.

I wanted gel but she's was pushing the powder, I insisted I wanted gel, then realized why, she didn't know how to do gel, but because it was only $65 I let it pass, and made a mental note to ask for someone else the next time. Well this CONTROLLING lady has to do EVERY single person nails who comes in. She doesn't let anyone else start nails. 4 effin times I got this lady. She's one of those people that acts nice but you can tell she's a Btch! First of all she NEVER does my cuticles. This is how my nails look 3-4 days after. Wtf man. So this last time was the straw the broke the camels back. She's just a fake person who's just nasty. I very kindly pointed out her shoddy work and she got an attitude. Being rude to my hands. Then she always has another girl do my other hand so I can't flip a page of a book or scratch my ass if I wanted to. Told her I was going to a wedding which was a LIE so that she could put some real effort into my nails, well she did her worse job ever. Then she tried to blame me because I scratched my face. Lies. Even if that were true, BITCH FIX IT TF!! Then she try to massage lotion on my hand I felt repulsed. I didn't want her touching me anymore. If she's in charge FIRE her. If it's her business I hope her staff quit because they all look miserable under her control. She does not know wtf she's doing and she's not at all refined like the Asian ladies. Btw yo soy hispana. De Puerto Rico. Ella es una vieja miserable y con actitud. Parece que le appesta la vida ENTERA! never again.
