If you think this place is "dirty and unsanitary" you've got to be confusing it with some shady dump nail salon on Water Street because this is the ONLY place I'll get a pedicure in Torrington without fear of contracting some foot fungus. They charge a little more but it's worth it. (Given the proximity you get a pass, but seriously...open your eyes) I also enjoy the fact that when you come here you aren't hit over the head with that acrylic nail product stench - there's nothing relaxing about getting your nails or feet done and having a migraine in the process. Regular manicures aren't cheap and as a rule of thumb I paint my own nails because I chip them constantly, but I go with the OPI Axxium gel manicure when I want one - $30, but no chips in over 2 weeks. And no, it doesn't require talons being applied to your fingers, they do it on your own nails. read more

Serenity has always been my family's go to nail spa! I will forever love the environment and work ethic here! I forever wish that they expand one day and take on a building of their own. I had a great first experience today at Serenity! I'm not normally one to write reviews but their kindness really blew me away. I went today for a pedicure and gel manicure. Once I got out to my car, I realized that one of my nails was extremely lumpy and a few had uneven edges. I felt a bit funny at first going back in, but I asked if I could have the one lumpy nail fixed. Not only did a different technician fix the nail, but he redid my ENTIRE manicure, free of charge!! Everyone at the salon is so incredibly sweet and friendly. The facility as a whole is exceptionally clean as well, and they did not rush my service in the slightest. I REALLY wanted to like this place. Ive been 3 times now and I wont return. First time I went (on recommendation), I arrived on time for my appointment with Van, signed in and sat down. Van called in to see if I was there, the owner didnt see me (because he was outside smoking) and and told Van I didn't show up, so told him he could go run errands. I sat for 15 minutes before they realized. Bobby laughed as he explained what had happened and not once did he apologize. Van showed up 45 minutes after my appointment. Second time - my only complaint is Van smelled like cigarettes. Last Saturday my appointment was at 1pm. Bobby (reeking of cigarettes) told me Van was running a couple minutes late. I sat there for FORTY FIVE minutes. No apology from the owner, no accomodations. If I wasn't there to use a gift certificate I would have walked out after I had waited 20 minutes. When I left, someone walked in and asked for Van. Bobby told them he was almost done. Van had just started with a client. Service is awful and if you dont smoke or have quit or just hate the smell of smoke, I dont recommend this place at all. read more

My husband and I went here on a whim one day. I convinced him to get his first manicure while I got mine. The spa is small but clean. We both got basic manicures and mine lasted at least a week which is much longer than I'm used to. The quality was really good. The only somewhat awkward thing is where their bathroom is located - behind the spa in what looks like a break room. All in all I highly reccomend this place. read more

I loved how my manicure and pedicure came out as soon as I forked over $70 bucks with tip. Two days later my big toe started hurting and I went to the foot doctor to find out it was infected and they said it was definitely from the pedicure. I've been trying out several of the nail salons in the area, but this one really set the standard low. Last minute I decided to get my finger and toe nails done before I left for a trip. I ended up just walking to to see about availability, and even with only 1-2 people in the store I had to wait a good 30-40 minutes. Giving them the benefit of the doubt since I was getting both done, I waited it out. It would of been nice to have been given a time estimate. They finally got me in and did my toes, everything seemed to go fine. The polish was applied a little thick but I didn't think much of it at the time. Everything "appeared" to be clean. Then we got to my nail. I had brought in a picture of a fairly simple red nail, with a very simple design. They were shown this from the start and I had requested the same colors which were a dark red/maroon, and gold. When she started painting I noticed it was bright, but the girl reassured me it was dry darker. Not knowing any better, I just went with it. Then we got to the design, and honestly both her and the manager who came over to try and salvage this mess knew it looked awful! But, they played it off, and the manager went back to his "usual" who was clearly more important than me. Payed the bill, and left with my "cakey" mess of a manicure that peeled within 48 hours. It was also done with a better quality - and more expense - polish and should of lasted. I will not be returning here. read more

Today 12/7/18 I went to serenity to get a full acrylic set with a certain design. I arrived around 4:15 or so. Bobby asked me wait for Amy. I have had her do my nails before and she did a good job so I didn't mind going to her again. Before she started I showed her a picture of what I wanted the same one I showed Bobby when I walked in she said she could do this except for the roses so I said ok fine when can eliminate that. She then said for the shape I wanted it was best to use gel because it would be healthier for my nails. Well A hour and a half later I was done and was charged $74.37 for a set that was lopsided, uneven and looked nothing like what I asked for my fingers were sore on the sides from the repeated reshaping with a nail file. I plan to return tomorrow 12/8/18 to have them soak off the entire set and this time give me what I asked for. If they agree to do this and they look better I will post a update to my review. But honestly after today's experience I don't think I will be returning. I feel like they use their nice customer Service to rip you off with inflated prices. I wouldn't mind paying more if they actually looked good but they don't. So bottom line is make sure you choose the right nail tech and keep it basic they aren't current on newer techniques. read more

Disappointed! After asking T-Town Chatters where the the best place in town to get my nails done, the majority said "Serenity Nail Spa". First time I had my nails done by Van, second done by Amy, third done by Mary, last time done by Bobbi (owner). My nails never looked identical at all after trying almost of the nail technicians that people recommended, but I have to say Amy was the worst that I ever had my nails done. Salon is just mediocre, equipments are not quality. I hope the owner who runs the business recognize it in order to fix for better future business. read more

I usually come here just to get my eyebrows done since it's close to my house to just run down. Eyebrows usually come out fine. After the last few times, it's really just the close distance that keeps me coming back. Every time I sit there waiting for at least ten minutes until someone acknowledges I'm even there. I walked out the last time.. I was sitting there waiting for over five minutes, workers would look at me, not asking what I needed or if I was even being helped. Then, they took another lady for an eyebrow wax that walked right through the door, and still didn't even speak a word to me! Disappointing to say the least. read more

Amazing service and wonderfully nice people. My sister, mother and I came here before my sister's wedding for the usual treatments. The pedicures are fantastic and my mom's first manicure ever was a big hit. Totally ignore the lady that gave the bad review because she couldn't be more wrong!! This place is the most cleanliness nail spa I have been in. Everyone that works there are very very nice and welcoming. They talk to you as a person not just like a customer. They do NOT do sloppy work, they take their time and don't mind if you want things changed. I respect people that speak other languages but here they speak English to you and respect you. Disappointed. My nails look wonderful, (full gel set) but they were crazy expensive. I paid $75 for a solid color full gel set. I was blown away by the price, it seemed way too steep even for such great work. Also, there are no visible signs anywhere showing the price so it came as a shock. I don't normally get my nails done so im not sure if this is normal but I will not being doing it again. read more

Loved the treatment I got here. My entire wedding party came here 2 days before my wedding. The entire salon treated us like royalty. Bobby was fantastic, and did a beautiful job on my nails. His employees did a great job on my pedicure, and did a fantastic job on my eyebrows. I've been coming here for YEARS now, probably since high school, and will continue to do so. My pedicure lasted for my entire honeymoon, which was over a week after my wedding, and stayed on until I wanted more "me" time and got another! The nail tech's station was dusty -- it looked like she worked in a place she just didn't care about -- as did everything else about this place. Went in for my first time today. Everyone loves this place so much so I though I'd give it a try. My nails are so unbelievably thick! It's like there is bubbles on them. I really wished I liked them. I made my appointment a day early and went in that time. I waited over 30 minutes while I understand there was people working, but the manager and some others were just walking around laughing having a good time, not seeing that they have a customer waiting. But the people were really nice to me, and that is really all the nice thing I could say. But for the nails, i don't plan on going again. Maybe this just happened to me and I'm picky, but nails that thick? Please, use less powder! read more
