Was honored to be invited to join the grand opening for Elegant Nail & Spa today. It was an unbelievable spread for just snacks and drinks. Nothing was lacking and the new owner Wendy was so very nice and personable and made us feel right at home. There was a number of raffles to win gift cards. Also they played a tik tok game w matching of nail polish and it was so much fun. Had a number of shots to win and my daughter actually won one of the games and picked a $50 gift card for services. So excited for her as I know she'll be getting her nails done. I plan to be back l for a pedicure spa w their new baths they offer. Situated next door to Starbucks in the Big Y plaza, it presents as a tidy neat salon without glam up extras. I entered as a walk-in early spring 2023 as i'd lost confidence in my previous nail salon. It is now January 2024 and I am regular! I appreciate the expertise of both Tomy & Lisa. The services I request include gel manicure, pedicure, and waxing. I have also never experienced problems afterwards with durability either. I write this review, in part, to emphasize not just my positive ongoing experience, but to encourage others to ignore outdated reviews. WHY? These are the worst nails I have ever gotten done. I made an appointment for 5:30 they didn't even start my nails until almost 6. Spent a hour and a half for a basic gel manicure. I walked in for the first time and they soaked my whole hand in acetone. My hands now are dry and just gross. Then they rushed me through a pedicure and manicure. My skin around my toe and fingernails are all stained with nail polish. She put soooooo many coats on my fingers they are all bubble looking and wavy. I kept questioning it but nothing. When asked afterwards J saidnit was sloppy because the poor girl was rushed. Owner shrugged shoulders and walked away. Will never go again! read more

I write this with a sad heart... I used to love coming here - their prices couldn't be beat. (Up until today) I have never had a service I was disappointed with. They were my go-to when I needed to quickly get my nails done... Well! That all changed today :'( Full Disclosure - I'm very picky about how things are done when it comes to beauty services, in general. This is for several reasons: 1) I like to look good (duh), 2) I know what I want, and 3) my mother owns a day spa and salon, so I'm well-versed in the "right way" and the "wrong way" to do things. Also, I am no stranger to shellac. I'm a long-time fan and love it so much that I have my own professional UV light and array of shellac polishes. The person doing my nails started okay, but I noticed halfway through the second coat that there was polish all over my skin and that it was very inconsistent and applied too thick. I asked her if she could make sure there wasn't anything on my skin and it seemed like she was taking care of it. By the end of the third coat, it was completely sloppy. I asked her to please fix all of the polish on my skin and she whipped out her nail trimmers to cut my skin off. Just so we're clear - I understand that there is only so much you can do once shellac sets. That said, I don't think it's rocket science to get it on right the first time, or to at least take care of it if it gets on the skin... I mean, I can manage to shellac my own nails and I don't get anything on my skin. I don't like doing shellac on myself during the week because it takes so long to do my nails... Usually an hour (if only I had a third hand). When I told her I didn't want my skin cut off (because seriously... I'd prefer not to have a hack job of a hand), she said that she would soak it off. I appreciate the offer, but at this point we were already nearing 1 hour and 15 minutes... That's 75 minutes for SHELLAC. I explained that I couldn't wait around for them to soak it all off and reapply it. I had to get back to work. She called over the other nail technician who picked up the nail trimmers so she could cut off my skin too. I told them again that I didn't want my skin cut off. They said, "Oh you just don't like the color." No, I loved the color (I own the same bottle at home). Then they said, "You're skin is too oily. You got the oil all over your nails." Thanks for noticing how oily my skin is... I washed my hands before she applied the nail polish... Also, I didn't realize my oily skin was the reason she got the polish all over my skin. Finally, the other nail tech asked if I could come in tonight to have them redone. I told her that I could not and that I chose the time (and made an appointment) because it was literally the only time I was available all week. Finally I asked her to just apply the top coat and that I would not be paying for the service. When she was done (and got some of the paint off my toes from my pedicure), I went to the counter to pay for my pedicure. The man ringing me out asked if he could see my nails. First he told me that they looked fine, and when I pointed out all of the top coat and nail polish all over my skin, he said that it was my fault because my nails and cuticles were too short. I explained to him that I was there last week and hadn't touched my nails since (they were actually longer this time). I also explained to him that his nail tech had completely cut off all of my cuticles when she was prepping my nails and that my hands were fine before I came in. When I told him I was only going to be paying for my pedicure, he started screaming at me and told me that he was going to call the cops because I was stealing his nail polish. I welcomed him to call the cops because paying anything for that would be robbery because they certainly did no service to me. read more

Recently I have not received professional service. I had appointments also. Eyebrows only wax used, no plucking or tweezing which I always require. I went for a gel manicure, she thought using the machine to scrap off gel was enough. I had to request they soak in remover, then she scrapped a lot of gel that was overlooked. As for my pedicure, she didn't even try to remove minor in grown nails. I won't go there again. They are cutting corners. read more

Just awful! My lady had her ENGAGEMENT RING STOLEN. I've been going here for a while now, and normally, this would have been a great review. I  went here on Tuesday 5/9/17, and had my engagement ring stolen. When I called the police, they came within minutes, only to find out this place had NO CAMERAS!! All they had was live feed only, and even that wasn't being monitored. The manager was rude when I called the next day to see if it been returned or if it somehow magically appeared. Needless to say, I won't be going back. And my advice to anyone getting services, would be to go to a place that has recording cameras. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. Had a 6:00 pedi appt and it didn't start until after 6:30. Only 2 people on staff. The list goes on. The place is dirty. The water they gave me to soak my feet almost burned my feet. Overpriced when they don't even have OPI gel, shellac or Essie brands. My pedi didn't even come out good. They starting closing up the place before 8. I was watching the Olympics on the tv and they shut it off when I was noticeably watching it. The staff was a little rude when I inquired about the pricing. Overall, pay a few extra dollars and go somewhere else! You'll thank me later. read more

I called the day before to make an appointment for pedicures for my cousin and myself. Timing is everything because I have a crabby baby at home and girl time is a special and very rare treat, so I called again a few hours before to make sure our appointments were still "on the books", I was told yes, all set for 2 pedicures at 4:45. We showed up at 4:40, said we had appointments, picked our colors... then waited...at 5:10 we were told to take the two chairs at the end so we sat, put our feet in the water...and waited. People got waxed, their manicures were started... at 5:20 we started packing up because a pedicure at that point was going to extend way past the time I had alotted (hence the appointments and the phone call to confirm them) and no one looked like they were going to be freed up to accommodate us any time soon anyways. One of the ladies came by asking where we were going and that she was going to get us started. I'm sorry. If I don't have time to wait for two people to start both pedicures I definitely don't have time for you to now start them one at a time. As we were walking out the owner (?) said, "sorry, we're busy". Well I'm sorry you can't decide if you want to be a business which only takes walk-ins or one that can honor its appointments. This place is the worst nail salon I have ever gone to in my life. The staff is very unprofessional and they do not have a clue as to what they are doing. I get a gel manicure every two weeks from Bliss Nails in New Britain and every time i come in they wrap my nails in foil and put them under a light to get the gel polish off. At L.A. Nails in Plainville, they went at my nails with a high powered drill making them paper thin and super sensitive to the touch. After they did this, they soaked my nails in a little Tupperware that was black rimmed with dirt and grime... completely disgusting. Then they applied a quick, single coat of polish (and did a very sloppy french manicure) and sent me on my way. Three days later, my gel manicure is peeling, my nails are breaking and they are still very sensitive. At my normal nail place, I can go every two weeks and have the polish be completely intact the entire time. I didn't go to my regular nail place because they are always so busy, but now I see why. Bliss Nails is right down the road and much cleaner, more professional and take their time by doing multiple coats and ensuring a perfect manicure. I will never go to L.A. Nails again and honestly believe they should be investigated by the health inspector for their unsanitary practices. I have never written a review about any business before, but this place is DISGUSTING! read more
