I wanted to do something fresh and new to my hair, so I researched Glastonbury salons and the services offered. Reading all reviews on social media outlets, Salon 22 was the one. I'm let down, but more so sad of the investment of my time and money. My entire experience wasn't all negative and I want to break it down. Positives: The interior of the salon was clean and all of the staff practiced great infection control/safety measures. My stylist was always very pleasant and I really enjoyed our conversations. The biggest positive was the response to my concern that my hair was not what I initially wanted after being charged twice for each visit. After leaving the salon and feeling defeated, I decided to call and speak to the Salon Coordinator. Jennifer, the Salon Coordinator was very professional and expressed genuine concern of how I was feeling. She offered to speak to the owner and my stylist about my concerns and have someone get back to me. Negative: My stylist didn't listen or acknowledge what I wanted to do with my hair. During our phone conversation after my second visit, she admitted that she should have been more upfront with me about not being able to accomplish what I wanted. I would have rather have her be honest with me than have me go through the process I did. She really danced around the fact that my hair color wouldn't come out the way I wanted. To be fair, I have dark brown hair and wanted to an ash brown/blonde. My first application of balayage wasn't what I wanted, but I liked it. I was charged for a "full head" of balayage my first visit and a "partial" balayage my second visit. I left my second visit feeling ugly and defeated. My color looked cheap and didn't represent what I wanted in the slightest. My third visit, which was provided at no cost basically was a glaze/toner application. I showed my stylist, again a picture of what I considered to be more of a doable color. I was at an orangey/golden blonde at my ends and more red towards my roots. At the end of it all, walked out with a dark brown with some red streaks. At the end of it all, I felt like it was a sick joke. I left my third and final visit feeling better than I did previously. I still felt defeated and worse about myself than when I started. I feel like if I spent an additional couple of hundred dollars there, I still wouldn't have gotten what I wanted. If I had gotten what I wanted or relatively close, then I would have justified the hundreds of dollars I spent. Edit: Per the response of Suzann, the owner- I am saddened. My stylist was great and is talented, her work shows on her other clients. In my instance, it didn't. My third visit would not have been an option if I had not made that outreach. The lack of concern and response from the owner is poor. I commend all the efforts made by my stylist and Jennifer. It is clearly indicated in the response.

They listened closely to what I wanted, made thoughtful suggestions, and somehow created a hairstyle that was even more beautiful than I imagined. I purchased clip-in extension which Jackie thoughtfully prepped and provided to me during my wash-and-set the day before (included in my pricing!). I received so many compliments throughout the day, a those who I haven't seen in a while had no clue I was even wearing extension. I have a wedding this weekend and didn't know what to do. Got a last minute appointment with Jen and I am so thrilled I did. Jen took out the yellow tiger stripes and blotchy spots, and gave me the most beautiful and natural looking highlights. My hair has dimension and is super shiny again. Seriously, she worked some magic :) I'm so happy I finally found a salon in CT! And the prices here are super reasonable. I should note, Ashley is fabulous as well. My mom has been seeing her for a few months and her hair always looks amazing when she gets it done. I should've just come here and not wasted my time at the other salon. Oh well. The salon was amazing--they booked me the same week I called. I had left a message outside of business hours explaining my situation. An 8:00 AM hair appointment might sound tough, but there is parking right in front of the salon, and it's free until 9! I was able to be seen by the eponymous hairdresser, who struck me as somewhat reserved but kind. We discussed my long-term goals (length, possible coloring later) and my preferred hair maintenance routine. (I shampoo and condition 3-4 times a week, use no products, or only air dry.) I felt good about the haircut while in the seat, and I looked nice at the end. Matthew explained that he had cut my hair so that it would lie nicely with some volume with no real effort. However, at home I didn't find a good way to comb or fluff my hair. So the front cleaned up nicely, but I think the overall haircut complicated my post-shower or morning "styling." Nonetheless, the professionalism, cleanliness, convenient location, and willingness to squeeze me in last minute? I recommend giving this salon a shot.

Rather than trimming angled layers around my face, she cut two small uneven chunks on both sides. Ms. Phillips also began trimming the longer layers towards my ends, but did not finish. The back was left undone. When I went to work, some of my colleagues took notice. They could see two uneven chunks around my face. I went to another stylist in tears. She was stunned by what Ms. Phillips did to my hair. If Ms. Phillips did not want me as a client, she should have not scheduled an appointment, rather than intentionally ruining my hair. What an appalling thing to do.

Note the tension spots and uneven placement after less than 3 weeks of initial install. This is the image from Mane Loft quality vs another salon that fixed my hair. As previously stated, the before and after images of my hair styled on day 1 of install do not show the damage to my scalp health underneath as shown here. No hate to the owner, but there's no accountability taken for why so much extra hair was added and why a senior/master stylist wasn't present to review the quality of service provided. The salon is very large but only one hairdresser was working, she told me she was booked for the day. I asked If my previous stylist Amelia was available in the upcoming days and found out she was no longer there. It doesn't seem that this salon can keep a hairdresser longer than a couple months!! I'm not sure why they have a sign promoting walk ins if they don't have the staff available to fulfill. Although this is a beautiful salon, they are clearly doing something wrong here and after such a high turnover rate, the owner should think about doing some things differently. Sad to say, but I probably wouldn't return
