I have been coming here off an on for years. I will stay here for awhile and then venture off somewhere else, and then somehow find my way back here. The "first" time I came back, I got a young woman named Nancy. Let me tell you, that woman is a god send. My nails looked PERFECT. Better then any nail salon I've gone to. The next couple times I've came here though, she is nowhere in sight. I have no idea what happened to her. I've gotten the same girl the last couple times now, and while she literally can do my nails in a half hour flat (the actual nails themselves come out amazing) I'm just not "wowwed" by them. I think it's the polish she uses on my nails. They look very "matte" and don't have that shiny look to them, even though they do while I'm there. I love coming here because the prices are fair, but it's annoying they only allow cash for tips. I usually come right after work and I don't have time to stop at the bank and take out money for a tip. Sometimes I forget and I've actually left and came back because I felt bad. I'm not one to not tip so it will weigh heavy on me if I don't give them a tip. You used to be able to tip through the card but they don't allow that anymore. That's my only gripe. I come here sometimes because I live in the area. They usually do a good job, but the last couple of times I was disappointed. First, they had a new girl do my pedicure/gel manicure. She was clearly inexperienced and when I asked her if she was new she said yes, and said she worked at another salon for two years, but as the service went on, it was apparent she was not being truthful with me. She did everything out of order and very awkwardly for my spa pedicure (this is the problem here for me, inconsistency, the price, the services, the order in which things are done on the pedicure chair etc.). The same girl did my gel manicure and she did an okay job, the painting was not as "neat" as it would have been with one of the other more experience technicians. The last time I came in, I got a different person and she did things yet in a completely different order in the pedicure station. The thing that was the big turn off this time is the hot wet towel leg wrap, the towels smelled bad, like dirty laundry. that was a huge turn off and I will probably not be back here again. read more

My technician was wearing her winter coat when I walked in (1 1/2 hours before closing), and was visibly annoyed that I had come. She scrubbed/shaved my heels (the razor did come out of a fresh package) and plopped my clean feet back down onto the towel-- into my own dead skin. I don't need a conversation, I'm fact I'd rather not have one, but she didn't even tell me when to put my feet into or out of the water, she shoved them off the foot rest or tapped my leg to lift my foot out. World's worst (and fastest) pedicure, at 22 minutes. There are too many other places to go for me to ever come back here. read more

I've gone to this nail salon twice. Both times while I was there I had a great experience. the guy that works there did my nails both times... he took his time shaping and painting my nails. HOWEVER, I have had acrylic nails for 4+ years and after BOTH times I went to this place (each visit was a year apart at least) I had a fungus under the nail! Both times the fungus appeared after I went to this place... so unfortunately I will not be returning because something they are using must not be clean or sanitary. read more

I have been coming here for 7+ years to get my eyebrows waxed and always have had a great experience. However, today, a chunk of my skin was ripped off. The wax didn't feel hot whatsoever and the woman who did the waxing still charged me the full price, despite it being very clear that she messed up. At first, I felt the usual, mild stinging that comes after the waxing and thought nothing of it until I realized that the sensation didn't go away, especially in one particular spot above my right eye. When looking in the mirror at Hollywood Nails, I initially hadn't noticed it at first but once I got home to wipe the baby oil from my eyebrows, I noticed a chunk of skin right underneath my right eyebrow had been ripped off. My skin has been irritated and burning for hours since I got them done. Won't ever be going back though, which is really disappointing since they do a phenomenal job most of the time. read more

Here's why: The woman who did my pedicure (I believe she was either the owner or manager) wasn't careful in working on my cuticles, and scrubbed the soles of my feet so vigorously, she caused irritations on my feet. She also dropped the scrubbing pad (old-fashioned tools), picked it up off the floor, and proceeded to keep using it on my foot. Super lack of sanitation. As soon as I got home I washed my feet hoping to avoid an infection. I feel bad writing this because the pedi itself is nicely done, and the woman who did it was very pleasant. read more

Don't waste your time here. I made an appointment and had to wait 2 HOURS. This is absolutely insane. I ended up leaving midway but it was an absolute waste of me and my friends time. I wish I read the reviews too because people are complaining of NAIL FUNGAS.. SO GROSS. I'm happy I didn't have to get my nails done. Save yourself for the sake of time, money, and sanitization. I have been coming here for a little while now to get my acrylic nails put on and filled. They always usually do a good job (depends on who does them). After having them on for about a month and a half (one full set and 2 fills), I had to have them taken off because I was having surgery. Instead of ripping them off myself I walked in and asked if they could remove them for me. The owner rudely rolled his eyes and told me they'd have to soak for an hour to an hour and a half and they didn't have time for that and to try some place else. Mind you, it was 3 pm on a friday afternoon, they were open until 7 and there was 1customer in the place (about 5 employees sitting around doing nothing). I left and decided to google how to remove acrylic nails. The video I had watched had said go soak them in 100% acetone. I purchased this and went home to soak my nails. After about a half hour I took my nails out see how they were coming. The nail had turned to this goopy, sticky, nasty material, and was sticking to other parts of my finger. The nails were impossible to get off. After about an hour and a half of soaking them, I had to rip them off. Every single one of my natural nails broke right down the middle. 6 of my 10 nails were bleeding. The natural nail underneath the acrylic was bending. These acrylic nails ripped off all of my natural nails. After doing some research I found this article. I will post my findings below, but basically, there is an acrylic powder that is still used in some nail salons today, because of its low price. It's called MMA and is "illegal." I always noticed the smell of the acrylic nails at this place because it has a fruity smell to it. I also noticed that at this place, and only at this place, I borderline fall asleep when I am getting my nails done. I get very tired and lightheaded. When my nails go under the light, they burn something terrible. One way to tell if MMA is used is that when soaked in acetone, it will turn to a goopy material (like my nails did). I am convinced that this is also the reason why the owner gave me such an attitude when I walked in to have the nails removed. Safe to say I will no longer be getting my nails done here. It is also used as bone cement by orthopedic surgeons during joint replacement procedures, in some flooring products, resins, and Plexiglas. MMA is not recommended for use in acrylic nail products because it is much too hard, and can tear the nail off the finger easily. It is also solvent resistant, which makes it very difficult to remove. It takes a long time to remove MMA when soaking in acetone. Many technicians damage the nail plate when prepping for MMA, since that product needs grooves in the nail in order to stick well. A technician should always protect and preserve the natural nail under any enhancement product. And, finally, MMA should not be used in nail products because the FDA has determined that it is not safe for that purpose. Methyl methacrylate (MMA) has a distinctive strong fruity odor. There are other indicators that might help you determine if a salon is using MMA. Strong odor that physically affects you. Beauty services involving chemicals often have offensive odors, like perms. However, while the smell may offend you, it should not physically affect you. If you experience any tightness in your throat or chest, tingling in your fingers, lightheadedness, dizziness, or an odd taste in your mouth, it is possible that MMA is being used. Physical reaction -- If your fingers burn, itch or hurt after receiving nail services, this can indicate MMA exposure. Beauty services are not a no-pain-no-gain arena. We hear of consumers who, when asked if their fingers hurt after getting acrylic nails, say yes, but only for a couple of days. Ask yourself, if you went to a hair salon and got your hair colored or permed and your head hurt, but only for a couple of days, would you go back? No, you would not. I called ahead for an appointment and asked for me and my grandma to come in at 1:30 and they told me to come at 1:15. We get there and they told us we had to wait and by the time 1:45 came around we got up and left. Previous times they were SO rude to my grandmother, pushing her to go faster because they were annoyed at her slow pace. It was also one of the best pedicures I have ever received. I worked with Ty and he did an amazing job on my french tips.
