Tofu Tip Fried Rice
Kendall C.

Ate here for dinner one evening and it was entirely empty when we showed up, which meant the service was attentive! I ordered the Tip fried rice with tofu and it was good but lacking a little bit of flavor so I asked for a side of peanut sauce (there were two types but I can't remember which one I got) and it made all the difference, the sauce was amazing and paired well with the food. My husband enjoyed his meal and we both decided we will happily return!

Decent pad see ew with beef as my protein. Ordered online with no option to pay unless in-person. It was a good portion that I left a small amount because I was getting very full. Order was ready at requested pick up time.

Came with my family during lunch which specials run till 3:00, you also get a spring roll with your meal. The restaurant itself seems a little dark and could use some natural lighting but plenty of seating and very spacious. Our serves was very nice and opened the door for us upon us entering the restaurant which was very nice. We ordered a Thai ice tea but it was extremely sweet, thankfully she gave us an extra cup of tea to downplay the sweetness. We got the papaya salad, pad Thai, drunken noodles, and a chicken curry. Our food came or very fast and portions were generous. The papaya was very refreshing and had the perfect amount of fish sauce tartness and chili spice. Very refreshing and a definite must when you come here. If you don't like spicy food please review the menu. When they say Thai hot they are not messin around! My mom who is Vietnamese loves the spice and she even said it was hot!

Only open for pick up and delivery at this time. Everything was prepared exactly as ordered. My daughter, who has never had Thai food before really liked the coven chicken pineapple fried rice. And I love the mango sticky rice.

Shrimp Cracker - Most awesome salad in Richmond!!
Victoria W.

Tip Thai restaurant has done something my mother was never successful in doing - getting me to eat raw onions and fresh peas. I will explain. I have pictured my Trifecta of Lunch - perfection! First is the Shrimp Cracker! A delightful salad placed in a fried wonton wrapper bowl, inside is a blend of little fried shrimp dipped in Thai chili sauce sitting on a bed of lettuce, thinly slice purple onion, cucumbers and slivers of carrots with I believe may be a thin Thai chili dressing. This salad is a little spicy - to me just right and everything goes so very well together I'm eating the raw onions instead of trying to pick them out! If getting delivery or pickup take time to smell the paper bag this salad comes in - people probably think I'm huffing paint but naw just shrimp cracker!! Next is the Cheese Rangoons. Delicate wontons filled with minced corn and carrots, cream cheese and fresh peas. As I mentioned earlier I don't like peas but when it come to this ragoon I careful bite so the pea breaks open with the filling - the taste is perfect just perfect! Last but not least of the trifecta is the Tom Kha Gai Soup. The salty, sour, creamy soup with chicken and chunks of mushrooms is what describes comfort. It feels like a big cuddle bear picked me up and gave me the best hug!! Ok maybe that's a bit exaggerated but it is really really good. I'd also like to give a shot out to their mango curry that I had the other night. OH MY GOODNESS - that red curry rocked the mangoes. If you are a fan of mangoes and spicy curry this is the dish for you.

Very busy at lunchtime. Spring rolls were excellent. Pad Thai was average. Nice family establishment.

Took a little while but it was worth the wait!! Spring rolls were delicious and crust was light and fluffy. Red curry chicken was absolutely fantastic per my Wife. And I had the crispy pork delight . Pork was on point and crispy with a sauce that was perfect. Staff were very polite and speedy, the room had plenty of room and very accommodating. We will be back for sure when in Richmond.

We live in walking distance so tend to walk over. There is free street parking nearby if you do drive. It's also a great takeout spot. Their pad Thai is pretty good, but I like their pad see ew the best for noodles. When we've gone, we've eaten inside, but it seems like they have a beautiful patio in the back. The service can feel a little slow if you're in a rush. If you're doing takeout you go upstairs to grab your order. If you want to dine in, you go down to the left. On a recent trip, I tried their salmon curry and it was incredible. I highly recommend ordering this wholesome and delicious dish. This is a wonderful spot for Thai food.

Parking is available on the side, or you can usually find street parking nearby. I really liked the industrial atmosphere, especially the swings, but we ended up sitting closer to the bar area. Our server was super nice, and the service was quick throughout the meal. FOOD REVIEW Sabai Platter - 3/5 Not bad for shareable during happy hour, but some of the items were just okay. Pad Thai - 4/5 The flavors and spice level were balanced really well. Pla Muk Tod (Calamari) - 4/5 Good overall, but I wasn't a big fan of the dipping sauce. Pik Gai Tod (Wings) - 4/5 Flavorful and really good. Moo Sam Chan (Fried Pork Belly) - 4/5 Tasty and flavorful, though a little over-sauced for my preference. DRINK REVIEW Thai Tea - 5/5 Refreshing and enjoyable. Thai Mojito - 5/5 Really good and refreshing as well. Overall, good food, great drinks, and friendly service.

I noticed a discrepancy between the amount on my receipt and what was actually charged to my card. It may have only been a small difference, but that's not acceptable under any circumstance. A dollar here or there adds up, and it raises real concerns when it appears to be a pattern. I had intentionally left a cash tip to ensure it went directly to my server, not through the business. Fortunately, I kept my receipt after hearing about similar situations happening before. When my statement came in, the charge didn't match. I called the restaurant to resolve the issue, and the floor manager said someone from management or accounting would follow up. Over a week later, I never received a call. I ended up disputing the charge with my bank. What should have been a nice Friday night dinner ended on a frustrating note. Unfortunately, that's what made the experience memorable--and not in a good way.

The Thai food here SLAPS! The dining area is fairly small, maybe about 10-12 tables, can see it filling up pretty quickly. Our server was super friendly and attentive (forgot her name) and was so nice to our noisy toddler haha. Food came out at pretty good pace and app, entrees and food didn't all come out at the same time which was nice. You HAVE to get their Thai sausage appetizer - If they made this an entree, I would get it every single time. The sausage is perfectly balanced with lean and fat and packed full of Thai flavor and spices. For my entree I got the Thai fried rice with chicken and this portion is HUGE, was able to take some home and easily serve it as another meal. The fried rice was so tasty and fried chicken was perfectly fried and came with a nice sweet and sour sauce too. My wife loved the pad se ew and got to take home her food as well. If this place was closer to us, it would be not good for our wallets. If you want delicious and authentic Thai food, look no further than Yak Yai!

Chicken Bangcock never disappoints and the portion size for all their entrees is a value. Perhaps the finest item on the menu is the Chicken Pad Se Ew with flat noodles and Chinese broccoli. The first time I had it, Unicorns danced around my mouth and giggled. The dude behind the bar is a bad a$$ and makes all kind of dope drinks. I would like it if he wore a velvet cape and cowboy hat while he waits on customers. In fact, the management should consider mandatory cowboy hats for all staff members working dinner service. Ask the barkeep to pour you a triple shot of "tortilla" with a lime wedge and your life will be changed forever- all your wishes will come true and you will no doubt end up in a drunken stupor talking to the broken ATM machine that perpetually sits next to the bar.

My tech lead said this is her go-to Thai restaurant whenever she's in the area, and I was curious to try. The interior has no frills, which is fine with me. As long as the food is good, I don't really care. PAD SEE EW - 16.99 +chicken, wide noodles, and Chinese broccoli This is my go-to basic Thai order if I don't know what else to get. The pad see ew had a good "wok hay" flavor and the sauce was perfectly savory with a bit of sweetness. The wide noodles could have been a bit more chewy (felt like they were a bit overcooked). The entree lacked egg, Chinese, broccoli, and chicken as it was mostly noodles. I felt a bit ripped off. The portion sizes were large so most of us had leftovers for another meal. Personally, I would rather have more toppings other than carbs with a smaller portion. Overall, 3.5/5.
