I ordered from here via UberEats and got scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage, avocado, and French toast. The French toast was good, and the eggs and avocado were fine. However, I didn't enjoy the home fries or sausage. The sausage was nearly burnt--they shouldn't have even served it at that point. The home fries had onions, but they were burnt, and there were quite a few overly crispy pieces. As expected, UberEats charges more than the restaurant, but in this area, nothing is reasonably priced anyway. Unfortunately, this breakfast just didn't hit the spot. read more

Had a craving for a breakfast burrit and this place was open early in the morning. Ordering was easy and they were able to accommodate me. I ordered a Mr.Burrito with no onions and they prepared just that. This was a steak egg and guac burrito with peppers. The steak was tasty and the egg was fluffy. I would have preferred if they make the eggs scrambled and mixed into the meat but the burrito feel like all the inside were separate. The mix of the i grill inside a burrit makes it taste better in me opinion. I will return to this location to try their other burrito that is more breakfast like. Many different meat and fish options with typical Spanish sides (rices, plantains, beans etc). Lunch came to $9.25 with tax for 1/4 rotisserie chicken with 3 sides - I got spinach, yuca and Spanish rice. Food was fine - chicken had good flavor but was somewhat dry. Rice was great while yuca and spinach were just mediocre. A co-worker introduced me to this place 2 weeks ago and I've been a regular ever since. I love it! The atmosphere in the restaurant is lively. But the selection of food takes the cake! Anything from an empenada (sp?), to a salad bar, to a sandwich, to your selection of a hot meal (variety of rices, vegetables and meats). For lunch you can get rice, 2 sides and one meat for $8.00. The typical meal deal is your choice of protein ranging from rotisserie chicken to pernil to fried fish fillets and 2 sides ranging from rice to plantains to salad. If that's not what you want, they have a decent sized salad bar with all the fixings. The seating area is not built for comfort but speed. You get your food, you sit down, you eat, you get out. I walked up to the counter and was immediately served. I chose pernil aka slow roasted pork with plantains and Mac and cheese. The pernil was a nice mix of fatty and lean with crunchy skin seasoned well and not too salty. The Mac and cheese was aldente and not over cooked with enough cheese without it feeling too greasy. The plantains were a little under fried so it was a bit firmer than I prefer but wasn't too bad. I started getting full 3/4 way through but powered through and joined the clean plate club. Totally disgusted and disappointed. I spent over $70 expecting good tasting food and I received previously frozen thawed out empanadas. I was told to purchase food from this restaurant from a coworker however I would never buy from here again. The sad part is that the customer service was great. My co-workers have been raving about the new opening of Tio Pio and how great their chicken is so I decided to try it out last week for lunch. The food here is moderate, definitely not inexpensive although I wish it was. I went to grab lunch at Tio Pio around 1pm and the line wasn't as long as I thought it 'd be. The decor is simple, nothing very fancy or extravagant and the staff here are friendly. Most of the food is pre-made, you just order what you want and it's ready to eat. I ordered the white rice with 1/4 chicken, plantains, and beans. I really enjoyed the plantains. I don't eat them a lot, but it sure is yummy. The beans were extremely tasty. The chicken was grilled just right. The rice had an aromatic taste to it. I think next time I will go for the yellow rice instead. If you want tasty Spanish/Latin American food, Tio Pio is the place to be. I think I will return to Tio Pio because I do have an interest in Spanish food and they've got empanadas, something I've been wanting to try for the longest time! read more

I spent money at this establishment and the employees from the food area refused to provide me with the code to use the bathroom because I could not find my receipt. Knowingly I had paid for my food there and a worker was trying to force a paying customer to walk to the register and get a receipt. I used to work over there and the lunch options in the Downtown Brooklyn/Fulton Street area are severely limited. This place is AMAZING! I could seriously live on a quarter chicken with rice, beans and plantains ($6.50). It is super delicious and the portions are huge! The rub/seasoning on the chicken is so tasty and the chicken is always moist and tender. The rice and beans would make my day. Do yourself a favor and ask for some "green sauce" on the side and pour it over everything, if you like a spicy kick. I also loved the Tio Pio wrap which is sauteed zucchini, avocado and the rotisserie chicken. I would say one of the worst things about leaving that job was having to leave Tio Pio. A Very good latin restaurant; Quality with Quantity. Everyday you will be able to get your choice of meat with 2 sides in a very affordable range of 6-10 dollars. Depending on what day you go there will be different sides available such as Stewed Okra (which is delicious), Yucca, platanos, A variety of rices and pasta, beans dishes, salads, fresh fruits in conjunction with choice of protein. Fried Chicken, Grilled Chicken, Chicken Cutlet, Rotisserie run you 6 with 2 sides. All of them are quite delicious. I'd advise against the cutlet at it is the most average of all of the chicken dishes available. The rotisserie and grilled are succelent and full of flavor. ANd they give tremendous portions either 2 pieces fried, or about 1 1/2 chicken breasts otherwise. One of the most underrated dishes in food history Pernil (puerto rican pork shoulder) runs you at 7. The pernil is usually quite succelent but there are days where it is a little on the dry side. I would look at it first before you get it...but it doesn't dissappoint when it is moist as it has the "Falling off the bone" texture. It is Easily the most flavorful dish here to point where i must reiterate how criminally slept on this dish is The fishes/seafood are a little more expensive as i believe the salmon with 2 sides is 9. Grilled Shrimp or Fried Fish is the fare here, and it isn't bad at all. You should get your food with the green hot sauce...which is excellent, not too spicy and extremely flavorful. Pretty much this place is perfect. They took the opposite approach to food. Cheap and Delicious...(which is why there is always long lines at lunchtime). read more

The portions are indeed generous. If it's your first time, then stick with items that are next to impossible to screw up. During my first visit, I ordered lemon chicken, steamed mixed vegetables, and Spanish rice. The Spanish rice was a bland, but I wasn't expecting anything authentic when it's being served out of a warming tray. The steamed mixed vegetables weren't overcooked and unseasoned--just how I like it. The lemon chicken was exactly that--lemony. There were even a couple of capers in the mix. I've also had the beans and rice (also bland) and the pulled pork (needs hot sauce). Seating is cramped, but if you wait long enough a table will open up eventually. I'm not sure if this place is cash only, but I've only paid with cash here and I've only seen other customers pay with cash. The food is decent and pricing is fine. It's 6am and I decided to give this place a chance. I've seen it during normal hours and never gave it a shot. Walked in and it was busy with construction workers, which is understandable. The staff seemed friendly and I ordered an egg white with turkey and tomato on a TOASTED roll. Got the roll and it was tasty, as tasty as egg white and turkey can be I imagine. BUT THE ROLL WASN'T TOASTED. Something so simple and it was too early to start messing up orders. Love this place! I stay close by for work regularly and have made this place my go to breakfast spot! They have fresh made juice which is amazing and really cheap! Limited are those who work/go to school in the Metrotech area in regards to viable lunch options. Of course there is Luciano's, Metro Cafe, Au Bon Pain, Five Guys, and Wok 'N Roll (really bad) all within the Metrotech courtyard, but if one dares to venture beyond the confines of the courtyard they will find themselves in heaven... if heaven was a bounty of Spanish food served piping hot and spilling out the sides of styrofoam containers. Tio Pio doesn't skimp. In fact one of my biggest complaints is that they give way too much food. The roast chicken is always fresh and moist and the sides (so many to choose from!) are all pretty good themselves. Personally, I love their pico de gallo on top of grilled chicken on a bed of greens. Breakfast is cheap, fast, and delicious. Plenty of seating both indoors and out. Coming in before noon is your best bet as the food is freshest and the lines are nonexistent.
