I would avoid this place anytime of day or night, unless you absolutely have to have some booze with your eggs or sandwich. The service was indifferent, not pushy, but no sense of urgency exists. Today I had the Sobrante Special, a hotcake, two eggs and two bacon. The bacon was just a little warm, the eggs were warmer, the pancake was large and thick, barely warm enough to melt the butter and top and tasted like a mixture of white, wheat and barley flours. It was so thick it didn't want to cook inside, I wanted to like it and I ate almost half. The coffee was worth less than the $3.33 they charge. Been here twice. The food is okay. Both times we came it was pretty packed so no doubt this is a popular place. I will say that service was not good. Super slow. I mean if you know the place will be packed, which I'm sure they do, they should have more people working. Again, food was okay. For me personally, I don' t know if I'll be back - maybe. A friend of mine loves this place and has breakfast here a lot. I thought this place looked ok for what it was, and it was closeby, so I thought I'd try it. I went here, and it was super casual seat yourself type of place, and they have their menus on a qr code. I ordered an egg white omelet. When I get it, it's freakin huge, which is nice if you want to make 2 meals out of it or share it. I wanted 4la few drops of hot sauce to add some flavor so i grab the hot sauce open the lid and start to pour/shake it to get a few drops and to my surprise a third of the bottle poured onto my omelet. So we come here on a Saturday afternoon and there's a short wait, no problem.. we are seated outside in the rear of the establishment, VERY soft and comfortable chairs btw. Everything is clean and seemed kinda uppity......until it wasn't lol. I hate to agree with most reviews on here but the service was something out of a comedy skit, it was that bad. The food was actually really good as I got the chicken fried steak dip sandwich. My brother ordered a specific eggs Benedict but I don't recall the exact type and a waffle. My dish was huge and well cooked, the food is impressive if nothing else. Everybody at the table was satisfied and nobody finished their plate on the spot so great portions. When I tell you the service was bad, we received the wrong plate before we even ordered, the wrong drinks somewhere in between and my coke didn't get there til I was almost finished eating. The waitress wasn't bad, slightly unprofessional but im gonna fault the system of operations because no real establishment should allow these mishaps be so consistent. My drink went to another table and a few other drinks came to ours, it had to be a joke was the look on every patrons face and we all felt the same about the service. I'm pretty lenient and patient so we didn't give the waitress a hard time, tipped her well too. But if you're having a bad day or don't have the patience, I'd either door dash this and hope it doesn't get cold or go somewhere else. Such a shame this place, as it has great potential but no capacity. We moved to the area this past year and had been dying to try Tina's! Downtown Pinole is so cute and I thought with this primate location and a big breakfast menu Tina's had to be good. I was wrong, because a restaurant isn't just the food, it's also service, the bar, ambiance, and speed. We stood for 10 mins without being addressed by anyone (on a Thursday morning, not wildly busy) and then a young woman came out briefly and when we said we needed a table for two she said she had to go ask and was gone for almost an additional 10 mins. Ask what? There were several open tables. We listened to the clearly new, poorly trained staff complain like a symphony throughout the restaurant the whole meal. Complain about lack of staffing, complain about who had what table, just be negative in general. Like you could visibly see how overwhelmed they all were. The owner (presumably Tina) was equally overwhelmed, and I'm sure created much of the overwhelm. She was trying to clean up everyone's messes and even came and literally threw my blood Mary at me without a word after I had waited over 30 mins for it- and she had to make it because someone forgot. No apology, no comp (which would have been the most appropriate- it came gives mins before they brought our check), and just generally a bad attitude. The food was ok! My shrimp and grits lacked flavor and needed salt, but overall the components were good! My husbands meal was good and the chicken fried steak was crispy but the hash browns were super burnt. So all said and told, so much potential but none of the elements were really able to come together to make for a quality experience the potential to have good food, a really great location and inside of the restaurant, a full bar, and a staff that seemed willing to learn but just were never taught. Bad management is suspected here- at the end of the day the buck has to stop with someone. We go out to breakfast at least once a week, often more, and love the area. It's a shame we can't risk another bad experience at Tina's. read more

Tina's is one of my favorite places to get a good breakfast. Yesterday I tried the Blackbean omelette. The taste was on point but unfortunately the beans were undercooked. I ate the entire thing of course, but I'm hoping next time the beans are better prepared. I also got the bottomless mimosas, but could only drink two. My biggest challenge was & always is, SERVICE!!! It took the waitress a minute to bring water (I asked twice), bring my mimosas (asked twice), bring my refill (waited ten mins to ask the second time), and then I had to get out of my chair to ask her for the bill. Tina's has always been a fav breakfast spot until recently! I usually went on weekends when it was superb service... but i tried it on a weekday and the service made the meal disappointing! The bartender was making drinks taking orders and seating people ... there were other workers there but they were socializing. When she helped other people seated after us she took our order and i asked for a steak knife to cut my steak with she told me they needed to wash the knives... i asked her for a straw and with her bare hands she brought a straw and stuck it in my water... i was dumbfounded ... after about 10 min I got up and went to the kitchen to ask for a steak knife ... the lady in the kitchen spoke Spanish and didn't understand ... the bartender shows up and says " they need to wash them.." she shows up to my table 2 min later drying the knife off with a paper napkin ...i left a tip because she did all the work ... but i won't return due to customer service and sanitation. At first I thought the price was outrageous when I saw the menu however when you take into account the amount of food you receive (the plating was more then in the picture I actually ended up forgetting to take a picture in the beginning and started eating after the first bite because of how good it was), how AMAZING the service is (especially the waitress we had she was super kind and attentive even though it was crazy packed and she had what seemed like 4 other tables of bigger parties), and the taste of the food the price was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. read more

The food is amazing. The service reminds me of Ed Debevic's in Chicago or Dick's Last Resort in Vegas, both of which are known for their obnoxious staff. The issue, this is not intentional. I am not sure why this place only has 3 stars? My friend took me here since we were around the neighborhood and we had to wait outside since there were people waiting out the door. The restaurant was a bit bigger than the usual brunch places I go to, so we waited for about 15 minutes and then got seated. Our waitress walked us to our table and took our orders. She checked on us every 10 minutes to make sure we had everything. Let's talk food, I ordered the ultimate burger with the house with their house fries (which are huge btw) and a waffle on the side. I couldn't finish the burger because the portions were so big! I had to take the other half home but goodness, everything melted together so well and the waffle was out of this world, so crispy and soft at the same time. The food has certainly been better. I almost get the impression that the cook is not happy or just not good. Chicken fried steak, gravy on the side. Gravy was cold and didn't really taste fully cooked. The chicken fried steak tasted like flower. Country potatoes were hot, but were not country. Tonight we ordered the Gumbo Family Meal from Tina's and it certainly didn't disappoint! Huge portions, gumbo was full of large shrimp, plenty of sausage, nice chunks of chicken and seasoned nicely. Two large containers of gumbo, two large containers of rice, garlic bread and a large (8×10 container) family sized green salad. Food was fresh,, still warm and plenty for two meals for two of us. I have been going to Tina's for about 10 years now. This started as a place for celebrations with my girls and became a place to bring everyone and anyone because it's so great! I just went back after a 1.5 year Hiatus due to moving out of state for a bit. My fiancé and I talked about how we missed Tina's all the time. Finally went back earlier this week and brought yet another set of people who had never been. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the consistency of the plates and ingredients. I have ordered the same exact thing since I found out I could order a side salad for breakfast. My go to is Marks Mess (now known as Stephs Mess), side salad with balsamic (best balsamic I've ever had), side of sourdough toast and a side of country gravy for toast dipping. I was a bit nervous that maybe some recipes had changed and was so surprised when everything was the exact same! The only change is that there are now more flavors for mimosas and that's of course not a bad thing at all. I look forward to my next visit even with the 35 minute drive included. After we had ordered and we were waiting awhile- still didn't even have our waters or tea yet- I decided to check the yelp reviews: Those reviews were spot on The food was good and portions were huge- picture black bear diner portions. However, the issue was the service. It is comically slow. So grateful I didn't order the mimosas- I'm convinced they would have not been bottomless. We joked the bottom part would be looking into the bottom of my empty champagne flute. A different person brought out our food, saying my toast was delayed and would be out shortly. A table that was seated way after us received their food along with toast. We finally had to ask after the toast, and were told to be patient, it was coming. The food was good- I can see ordering from here, but would only do it as take away. A word of caution would be to check your order if you pick it up to make sure it is correct. Many reviews mentioned orders being wrong. During our long wait for our food, I headed to the restroom. You have to pass by a tiny dishwashing section- wow!!! I have never seen so many dishes in my life. I started singing the Cinderella song in my head. When I went back to the table I was shaking my head, and told my husband he should go to the restroom, and left me know his experience when he got back. He came back laughing, asking if my comment was about the Janga tower of dishes. Spot on honey. At one point, my husband said to me. Officer, I'd like to report a kidnapping.
