Tim and Marley did a fantastic job with our move last week. Tim was very responsive in the planning process to get everything set and agree on a price. He had an associate with a family emergency so they started 3 hours later than we originally planned, but Tim covered for the guy himself and gave me a discount for the inconvenience. Moving is a stressful endeavor. So happy we chose Tim Paul for our move from a one bedroom in Brooklyn to a house in central NJ. They really know what they are doing. Had my doubts that all our stuff (boxes, queen size bed, tv, ping pong table - yes we have one) would fit into their extra large cargo van, but they made it work. Also - some items needed to be moved out of our new house (old recliners, bed, tv) and they handled that with no problem. Communication before the move was easy and efficient as well. Note that are some minor charges we weren't expecting (i.e. mattress cover, payment for travel time back to NYC) but they were an overall drop in the bucket for how easy and less stressful Tim Paul made our moving experience. I've moved 6 times in three years. Aside from one move, where my company covered expenses and spent over 10x what Tim and his team charged, this is the best moving experience I've had by far. For those new to NYC, this city does not make it easy to move. You have various moving restrictions, certificates of insurance, etc. From planning to execution, Tim and his team were fantastic. One of the worst feelings before a move is lack of confidence in the team helping you. With Tim, this was never a factor. He was extremely responsive from the get-go, processed COI's quickly, dealt with both buildings on specific insurance matters without need for my involvement, and I was more than comfortable putting down a deposit. He recommended 3 movers (one would watch the truck to avoid tickets), which ended up being a fantastic suggestion and saved me a few hours. The movers arrived promptly in the time window, and called me 30 minutes before the move. They were careful, quick, and very friendly. No additional fees or tricks whatsoever. As his name goes, I hired Tim at the last minute. I buried him in texts and questions, and he answered everything. His movers, Chillin' and Ceasar, showed up on time with a oversize van, which initially freaked me out, because I didn't think everything would fit, but Chillin' assured me it would -- and it did. They moved everything in, helped assemble my ridiculously heavy and complex dining room table and helped me maneuver my hippo-sized couch, and they did it all in good humor. Had to move out of a one-studio apartment in Queens. Not only did Tim do me a favor by having a crew come over at 9am on a Saturday rather than the standard 10am start time, they pulled up just as my son and I had finished backing up the truck into the driveway. Perfect timing! And the two guys -- chilling and Gregg -- couldn't have been more nicer, friendly, or efficient. No wasted time. Done in two hours flat despite a very long walk from the elevator to the truck. And chilling knows how to pack a truck. He was very deliberate about that. And nothing moved or broke during the 250 mile trip home to Northern Virginia. If I ever have to move back to NYC, Tim's Last Minute Moving is who I will call. The slowest, least efficient, and most cumbersome move I've ever experienced. Joey was professional and had experience, but his associate Marley walked in with coffee and set it on my furniture, as if he was just on a casual Sunday stroll rather than about to move anything. He also questioned both how to move my furniture and my taste in furniture. When I saw him struggle with a chair, I offered a way to move it (as I had moved it up multiple flights and into different rooms in the three years that I've had it) and he said "I like to do it my way." He was generally so unenthused to be there - I don't expect anyone to be excited about moving, literally at all, but it was clearly the worst part of his day and it was somehow my fault that he was at work. Both movers were reluctant to move anything, choosing to move a lot smaller pieces even when I specifically requested that they start with the bigger pieces (since it's $60 for ever 30 minutes over the 2 hour quote); they were unable to maneuver many of my pieces and almost didn't get a piece of furniture in because they didn't think to try that configuration; a few pieces were scratched and dropped (and this has never happened with any other company that I've used). I would not recommend them if you 1) want the job to be done efficiently and 2) if you have vintage / old furniture. As another reviewer said, I did get a good workout running around moving my own stuff. At the end of the move, I asked if I could speak to Tim about what happened before I paid, but I was told that I had to pay on the spot. They did take off the extra 30 minutes, which would have been $60 extra, but overall, I'm very displeased and the move caused a lot of anxiety. read more

I was a little nervous about hiring a mover from craigslist, but I thought I'll give it a try. We only needed extra hands, we had rented a Uhaul truck. My first move-in date was rescheduled and Tim quickly accommodated the new date. Two guys showed on a snowy morning ready to pack the truck. The guys were friendly and the muscle we needed. It took longer than the 2 hrs that I had reserved and the guys made a quick call to Tim and we got an extra hour of help. We couldn't have done it without them. I would definitely recommend. I found Tim by luck and am so grateful. Tim made my first recent move in 10 years quick and easy, and cheap. He came w/ two guys the first time and moved me from the room I rented in two hours. Then I had him deliver a bed that was gifted to me. They picked up, moved and took it apart and put it together again. It was from ikea. Lots of pieces. Then a year later he made the next move a relative breeze. I packed boxes and they packed the cargo van. Master consolidator and amazing worker. They took the entire inside frame of a sofa bed out in order to get it out the door. He is a moving machine and professional and efficient. I would've tipped twice as much if I could afford it. Although there were only 2 movers you would've thought that they sent an army of guys as they were able to do a great job in setting up and breaking things down. I've used Tim's services several times and even recommended Tim to a friend who needed to have some precious heirloom furniture moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan. So I really like these guys. HOWEVER, this time Marley, who was handling my office desk, did not properly prepare it for moving downstairs, flipped it onto its side and damaged it. I just caught it in time before the desk began to fall apart. This occurred AFTER I sent a detailed e-mail IN ADVANCE about packing certain delicate pieces of furniture. Marley blamed the "cheap" construction of the desk. My file cabinet is also broken, I cannot lock it up anymore. I'm also missing some hardware for one of my cabinets so I cannot secure it. So unfortunately Marley's attitude and performance on this run was poor and inconsistent. read more

I was originally scheduled to move with a different company. However, when I tried to contact them the day before the move, they never answered the phone. i panicked because I live in a very strict co-op building that requires permission to move in and everything was already set up for me to move my things in that next day. I found Tim's Last Minute Moving on the internet and called them about 9:30PM. The owner, Tim, answered the phone and was professional and was able to confirm within 15 minutes about coming to do my move the next morning at 9AM. A gentleman named Joe arrived the following morning at 8:50AM and was ready to work. When I woke up and saw that it was raining, I got a bit anxious thinking they would cancel on me. However, I was impressed with the company's punctuality and the speed of the move. The truck was clean inside and out, which is important. You don't want your boxes and personal things in a dirty truck! He also had moving pads available to protect my TV, and brought moving tape to tape up loose ends. The mover stayed very professional and didn't try to get too friendly, Tim even gave me the same rate the other company was going to charge me, and didn't try to gauge me since I was obviously in a bind. I tipped the mover on top of the flat rate because he deserved it. About an hour after the move, I received a text from the owner asking me if everything was satisfactory.
