We ordered a baked prawns with cream sauce over rice and another over spaghetti. We also got some chicken wings. The rice and spaghetti looked way better than the pictures shown on DoorDash (not sure why they haven't updated that). The rice and spaghetti taste pretty authentic, like the ones I'd get from other Hong Kong-styled places. I've always preferred the cream sauce over the tomato sauce, so this was perfect for me. When we ordered these off DoorDash, they were giving complimentary egg puffs and we ended up with three free egg puffs (one with each of the two entrees and another for ordering more than $15). The egg puffs is not like the ones I'm used to eating, which has a smooth outer shell and a fluffy center. Their egg puffs almost feel cakey, like a madeleine. The chicken wings were slightly on the oily side but definitely tasty and very well seasoned. Overall, I would order everything again. read more

Came here on New Year's Eve and had a terrific meal! I ordered the Black pepper steak combo which came with a drink of choice and an appetizer, a really great deal. I got spaghetti with my steak and the portion was generous, and the honey lemon tea was delicious too! We had their potstickers for appetizer- superb flavor and the dipping sauce paired really well. Our table also ordered a plate of Hainan chicken, stir fried bok choy, and crispy pork belly. Everything had wonderful seasoning and were cooked just right! Hong Kong cafe food in Davis! Really affordable and pretty good deal for their food items. Their entrees are on average about $10-12 which is a pretty good deal because the portion size are big and usually comes with a complimentary drink (and some time egg puffs). Pork Chop rice: I recommend their pork chop rice (with tomato sauce, no cheese). I've also tried it with white cream sauce but it just didn't have that traditional hong kong style taste to me. In term of portion size, there's a lot of rice so it's large enough to be shared amongst 2-3 people. Additional: I've tried the Hainan chicken rice. Sadly, it's not really Hainan chicken rice... it's more of chicken with rice (no broth). read more

Just found this place the other day! I'm so excited to have HK cafe food in Davis (it's been ages since I've been back to Oakland Chinatown). Staff is nice (I always see the auntie and the one cook, and both are very sweet), food is good, and portion sizes are generous! I ordered a Hainanese chicken rice, which came with a drink, and gailan (chinese broccoli). Total was only ~15$ and I will be fed for days hahaha. Chicken was moist and tender, and the ginger/green onion sauce was really good. Peanuts seemed fresh roasted. HK black lemon tea was the best I've had! female hostess was mean, she said that they need to prioritize the tables when they all literally came after us. we waited for more than 40 minutes, soon to be a full hour because we still have another waiting dish for pork belly, for four full dishes. i even had to confront them about this horrible wait time frequently to ensure that they didn't just forget about our order. we still have missing teas in our order, and there are food still streaming out the kitchen but just not to us sitting on the benches. ordering takeout is at this point literally faster than coming in and picking it up. this restaurant is absolutely horrible in service, the food is not worth waiting here for this long. go to dumpling kitchen instead, we will not ever be returning to this place. read more

They do have a bad service I think they might short of staff. Went in there order for food and wait around 30 mins till my food came up. They other two people who came in 5 mins after me got their food ahead. Ordered drink they didn't service it until some one else ordered drink too. I got it ya too busy but might need address the service discipline. Food is not bad but like the apertizer is cold no idea why it take 20 mins to service something just bring it out from the fridge.
