I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Special Rice Plate with a side of Deep Fried Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings while my brother ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp Rice Plate. The Hainanese Chicken was absolutely delicious with the included Scallion sauce and I couldn't stop myself from having a few chopstick-fuls of the sauce by itself after I finished my chicken. The chicken wings were also super reasonably priced (a rarity nowadays) and they were meaty, crunchy, and juicy. My brother was very pleased with his order as well as, unlike some other places, they use big prawns for the Honey Walnut Shrimp dish. My only complaint has to do with the service. I've been to Tim's Kitchen a few times now, but every time I find the place pretty bereft of staff. I'd be more than happy to update my review to 5 stars if they just hired one or two more people to help with the reception desk, since I've just stood around the front desk every time waiting for someone to notice me even on empty-ish days. Each rice plate comes with a free drink of your choice from a display they have: a water bottle or a canned soda! For $10.50 a rice plate, that's a mind-blowingly good deal. Hainanese Chicken Rice Plate: Immediate wow factor! They nailed that bright yellow color beautifully, and the flavor was absolutely there. Their ginger scallion sauce is top tier and so flavorful, but not overpowering! Honey Walnut Shrimp Rice Plate: Super generous portions right off the bat. Some places skimp out, but not here! Shrimp was crispy and saucy and piping hot and fresh when it came out, 11/10. Salt & Pepper Wings: 12 wings for $12.95 is unheard of nowadays!! It's crazy how good the wings tasted, I think knowing that they're so cheap made it taste even better. Service was amazing!! The auntie running the show took care of us right when we walked in. Really amazing prices for the quality and quantity of the food! I wish there was a location closer to where I live. Parking can be difficult during dinner time or the weekends. We got really lucky and didn't have to park too far. Most of everything we got was really good! Favorites are probably the honey walnut prawns, green bean in garlic sauce, fried tofu, fried chicken wings, and shrimp in cream sauce over rice. We also got the Hainan chicken but wish the rice had a bit more flavor, but the dish was still pretty good. I'll probably not order the Peking spareribs or salt & pepper spareribs next time because they were a little dry. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area! On Sunday afternoon of March 13, 2022, the kids and I were on our way to Raising Cane's to pick up a quick snack when we walked by Tim's Kitchen. One of their window posters displayed a Sesame Ball plate for sale which immediately caught my eye. I literally stopped in the middle of our trek to Cane's and walked back to Tim's to order these dessert balls. Why not? A Sesame Ball order of six for $3.50 + tax isn't a bad price to try out their versions of one of my favourite Chinese desserts. The venue is super small - maximum capacity can't be more than forty in the dining room. It's a no frills eatery, so don't expect to be impressed by any decor. The exterior can be confusing because the sign for SWEETHONEY DESSERT, the former business, is still displayed. In fact, while I was outside, photographing the front entrance of Tim's, a small group of people arrived for SWEETHONEY to find that it was no longer in existence. They were definitely bummed out. Oddly, even though my receipt was for Tim's Kitchen, my credit card account reflected that my charge was for SWEET HONEY. We didn't wait very long for my Sesame Ball order to be fried up. I was excited to try one, fresh from the kitchen. The balls were perfectly sphere, but I was surprised that they were soft with no crisp at bite and slightly chewy, to my disappointment. The red bean taste was also a little off-tasting, in my opinion. My husband found them to be on the bland side. Service was friendly and fast, but I don't think that we will be back. read more

Last week Allen N. posted his picture of roast pork from Aiea. Literally, it was our old stomping grounds before moving to Cali. So for a full week, we debated where to find roaat pork locally. Thankfully, Davis has Tim's AND the roast pork was excellent. Crunchy skin, juicy middle, and not too salty. Perfect over rice and balanced with a side of broccoli, carrots, and radish. They provide a dipping sauce but it was flavorful enough without it. Also got a honey lemon tea with our take out order. When they shut that location down, I was bummed because decent HK style cafe's are rare in the Sacramento area, and Tim's Kitchen is definitely a good one in my opinion. To my surprise while perusing Yelp one day, Tim's Kitchen showed up (and not shown as closed) but in a different location. Knowing this, I made it a priority to come check it out asap. The new location is so much better than the last (two blocks away from their previous location). This new location is bigger and better with obviously more dine in seating. The food and menu is the same as it was before, and the food is just as good as I remembered. When we dined in here, we were the only ones that ate in. However, there was a lot of take out orders. Most of their entrees come with a drink. My go to order is the baked pork chop with tomato sauce. So glad that they didn't completely shut down and only just moved down the street! read more

Lots of food for not too much money. The food is just okay though. I'm Chinese so I'm always looking for good Chinese food in Davis. This is probably the worst Chinese food I've had in Davis. It still isn't bad but after having it a couple of times, I realized it's kind of cheap tasting. The prices are good so you get what you pay for, I suppose, but I think it's worth a few extra dollars to go somewhere else. I'd still get it if I was trying to feed a lot of people but not for just me. Beef chow fun is usually how I determine how good a Chinese place is. I absolutely love this hidden gem in Davis! Prawns in cream sauce over rice or spaghetti is so good! If I don't go for that I go for the $5 chicken wings with your choice of drink, which is usually passion fruit tea or their brown sugar milk tea boba. They're boba is the best in this town. The pork chop itself was well seasoned and crunchy. I appreciate that there were a couple of broccoli florettes on the side too. In my order there was enough for two meals, so the portions are very generous. The service is excellent! I believe that if you order inside at the register you can get a free drink included with your meal. I had the milk tea with boba, and it was delicious! Not too sweet and on par with other chain milk tea and certainly generous for the price. There is very limited indoor seating, and a few seats available for outdoor seating.
