This place is fine. I've eaten here twice. Nothing too special stand out to me so far. Pretty basic and entry-level. Manage your expectations. Perhaps this place will offer better foods in time.

    Beef stew

Came back after a while. Similar things but the main thin was how small portions are. Prices are lower compared to other chinese places but so are portions. We ordered the beef stew, idr how much but maybe 17 ish and it came in like a personalized stone pot type bowl i was surprised lol. Flavoring was decent tho, but everything was just so small we ordered 6 things for 6 people and finished it all.

Little Cafe is my new favorite HK style cafe tucked away in the quiet Pocket neighborhood. There are not many HK cafes in Sacramento, so I'm very happy to have found this gem. The owner is super sweet and speaks Cantonese, so I am able to practice my conversational Canto when I go. She is very attentive and helpful, and always makes sure the food is to our liking and that our waters stay full. Little Cafe is pretty small with limited seating, but the few times that I've been, I've never had an issue finding a seat right away. They offer breakfast combos similar to what you'd find at a cafe in HK that serves breakfast. The first time I went, I chose the preserved vegetable and pork ho fun noodle soup. The pork had a delicious wok hay flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. There was a good amount of preserved veggies and the soup was clear and piping hot. It was a very comforting meal and the portion size was excellent. I got iced milk tea with my meal and while it wasn't as strong as I've had at other establishments, it was still pretty good. The second time I came to Little Cafe, I brought my husband with me. I noticed that there was a price increase in some of the menu items, but with the current economy, that was to be expected. Everything was still very reasonably priced. As far as our meal selections, my husband chose the beef stew wonton noodle soup while I went with another HK classic, the curry fish ball noodle soup. We both chose iced lemon tea for our drink. We also went with Singapore noodles for a shared entree. I was not expecting egg noodles for my curry fish ball noodle soup but it wasn't a big deal. I think that I will just ask for ho fun next time. My husband really enjoyed his beef stew wonton noodle soup and I got to try a bite of his beef. It was quite tender indeed. Both of our broths were simple yet comforting. The Singapore noodles were delicious and again had the signature wok hay flavor. I could hear the sizzle of the oil in the wok while waiting for our food, so I knew it was going to be good. We were not able to finish our food, so we had a good amount of leftovers for the next day. We also took the lemon teas to go and it lasted us for the majority of the afternoon. I have been eyeing the beef chow fun after seeing the photos other Yelpers have posted and would love to try it next time, given their wok-fried food has so much flavor. The spaghetti dishes also look great. I am very pleased to have a new hole-in-the-wall HK cafe to support and definitely see myself continuing to try out Little Cafe's other breakfast combos and entrees!

    Salt and pepper tofu
    Melissa L.

Salt and pepper tofu without the salt and pepper taste. Ordered through DoorDash for their BOGO free salt and pepper tofu. The tofu was unfortunately not crispy by the time I received it, but I'm not marking points off for it as that could be a delivery issue out of their control. My biggest gripe was the seasoning for the tofu itself. There were some tofu that tasted seasoned, however the majority of tofus weren't. Tasted just like bland fried tofu cubes. Seeing how others have had positive experiences with other items I may give it another try, but likely won't order the salt and pepper tofu again. I'd give 2/5 for the tofu itself but gave an extra star for good packaging and thoughtfulness of venting out the tofu container so it wouldn't become soggy

Authentic Chinese Flavors [Sacramento CA] One of our friends invited us for dinner to try out this place that he often goes to. He has a knack for finding us good, cheap places to eat. Little Cafe is a Chinese restaurant in the Pocket area in Sacramento... a little ways from Roseville. We joined them for dinner at 6:30p. I had the House Pan Fried Noodle ($12.95 + $1.50 add'l for pan-fried) and hubby chose the Beef Chow Fun (Dry) $10.95. Friends ordered each the Brisket Pan Fried Hong Kong-style Noodle... must be good! The owners gave us two complimentary Thai Tea and Thai Iced Green Tea drinks. I had a sampling of the Hong Kong- Style French Toast... mmm! yummy! We don't come to this part of Sac often but I'm glad we did and we'd love to come back and dine here if we're in the area again. Prices are cheap for the heap of food they serve. Delicious and authentic Chinese flavors. The restaurant has ample seating inside and it has outdoor patio seating as well. Lots of parking located in the Promenade Shopping Center on Rush River Dr. It took us a bit to find it inside the shopping center. Thank you, Vince, for inviting us... we always enjoy these great food finds you share with us and Michael. Review #3566

I've been here twice now and it's been great both times. I love their beef noodle soup! The beef is so savory and tender! There are bits of fattier chunks and gristle along with the cubes of meat, but it's been cooked down so well that I love it all. The service is fantastic. They are so kind and welcoming. The interior of the restaurant is small with a very mom n pop vibe and the tv is usually on some series displaying Chinese cuisine. Great place to have a nice, comforting meal.

    Cucumber Salad

Stopped by for dinner on our way home. It's was a super hot day and this place was hot and humid when we were there. The food was mid the drinks were mid. Service was ok. The beef chow fun had this gigantic piece of beef that was somewhat not fully cooked and we don't eat not fully cooked beef if it's not a good piece of steak. The whole dish was lack flavoring. Bland with just soy cause for color. The cucumber salad was so bad we tried a pieces each and left the whole thing like it is. All we tasted was vinegar. It was not pleasing at all. The braised beef over rice was probably the only good thing. We also ordered boba drinks and Hong Kong milk teas. Didn't pictured, the drinks were full and left on table just as was served. Sorry not a spot that we'll come back to try.

Corn Egg Drop Soup (big portion)

Unfortunately I'm sick with a cold and feeling pretty bad. I just wanted some simple soup and something else to help me warm up and feel a little better. I remembered Little Cafe had HK inspired dishes so I knew they'd have some soup I could order. I placed my order online and got the corn egg drop soup (the preserved veggie soup also looked really good but figured I shouldn't eat pork right now) and then I got the salt and pepper tofu. I'm genuinely happy to have this place in my neighborhood and I hope they stick around. The woman working is really kind and the food tastes delicious. The soup really hit the spot and the tofu was cut into big pieces and perfectly fried without being oily or heavy. I plan to come back when I'm feeling better to try their HK French toast and other items.

Customer Service The chef was sitting outside no customers yet. I asked what he liked, he smiled and pointed inside, he could not speak English. Katie my server is very polite and attentive. Rate 5 Ambiance Place very clean. Rate 5 Food House Fried Rice Very good Rate 4 Beef Stew Noodle Soup Broth tasty, bok choy fresh. The beef was mostly fat, a few pieces of beef. Initially I thought the fat were big mushrooms or something else. I left the dish half eaten, Katie said u can take home and cut of the meat. I asked if this dish normally has this much fat, she said yes. Went online and looked at 6 recipes and all used cubes of meat. This dish needs more beef it is a $13 dish. Rating 1

    Singapore Style Rice Noodles
    Stephanie H.

Tried a few items for dinner: Beef Chow Fun (dry), West Lake Beef Soup, and Singapore Style Rice Noodles. Everything we ordered tasted fine / not bad, but none of the items stood out as something I'd want to re-order in the future. Service was good & attentive. A decent place to check out for Chinese food in the area, but not somewhere I'd personally go out of my way to try since there are more flavorful Chinese places in the same general area.

Nice little Chinese restaurant in pocket area. They are located in the same plaza as Bel Air. My date and I came here for dinner 30 minutes before they were closing. The staff was very nice to serve us and told us we didn't have to rush and take our time. Beef pan fried noodles: noodles were fried perfectly. The sauce was a bit salty but overall flavorful. Yangzhou fried rice: my first time ever having this kind of fried rice. It was kinda bland. Stir fry chicken ginger & onions: very interesting dish! A bit salty but it was good. The service was kinda slow but it was no biggie since my date and I were not in a rush. The lady staff was nice and sweet. She got super excited when I spoke to her in Cantonese. Portion was huge. Prices decent.

Little Cafe is the same as their name. They're not very big. However, they have excellent Hong Kong-style dishes and drinks and attentive service. I am having dinner here this evening with a few friends. Everything we ordered was yummy, and the dishes were generous as well. The dining room is clean and comfortable. We all enjoyed our visit.

Second time dining here during their Soft Opening. Yes, they are slow and the menu is different, but this is a Hong Kong Style Cafe in the heart of the Pocket Area. What a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The staff is still learning, please be patient with them. I don't see the Grand Opening happening anytime soon, but that's not a reason to not try this great spot, because their food is really good. Here's what I've tried: CHICKEN CHOP DOUBLE EGGS TEN TOAST + HAM PENNE I had absolutely no idea what I was ordering, but it sure did amaze me. My plate contained a seasoned chicken thigh that was deep fried to create a slightly crispy outside texture that was tender and juicy inside. Perfectly cooked if you ask me. Two eggs scrambled, two pieces of toast and a bowl of soup. The soup was chicken broth based with slices of deli ham and macaroni elbow looking noodles. A great deal for a meal that tasted like mom would make at home. Lots of love. CORN CRAB MEAT EGG DROP SOUP Flavorful soup with wonderful ribbons of egg, corn, imitation crab and green onions. The green onions make this dish and you can taste the white pepper in the soup as well. Very good and hit the spot tonight on this cold evening. HOUSE FRIED RICE There is a lot going on inside this rice. It had beef, shrimp, chicken, bbq pork, scrambled egg, bean sprouts, corn, lettuce and the frozen medley of veggies (peas, carrots, green beans and lima beans) Stirfried perfectly and flavorful with a home cooked meal feel to it. HOUSE FRIED NOODLES Kind of like the Fried Rice, with lots going on. It had thin noodles, onions, bean sprouts, chicken, bbq pork, shrimp, beef and green onions. This too was stirfried perfectly and flavorful with a home cooked meal feel to it. I can't wait to go back and try something else. Everything I've ordered so far has been on point. If they streamlined their service, they'd have five stars from me for sure. Simply Wonderful!!!

The restaurant itself was already VERY loud, with customers talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves. We actually appreciated the atmosphere because, as parents of a toddler, it made us feel more comfortable dining there as a family. Shortly after receiving our food, my toddler became upset and started crying. The OWNER approached my husband and asked him to REMOVE OUR CHILD FROM THE RESTAURANT. My husband, being the respectful person he is, complied and took her outside. At first, I was confused about why he had suddenly left until he called me and explained what the owner had told him. We had JUST received our food. At that point, I asked our server to remove the untouched items from our bill. I made it clear that I was more than willing to pay for anything we had already touched or consumed, but I was not comfortable continuing to give my business to an establishment whose owner had just asked my husband to remove our toddler. The owner then approached me, and I explained how inappropriate and upsetting I found the situation, especially considering how loud the restaurant already was. I could barely hear my own daughter over the overall noise in the restaurant. Her response was that "people were looking at me," which is why she asked my husband to take our daughter OUTSIDE. That response was extremely disappointing. She is a TODDLER. Toddlers sometimes cry. We were not allowing her to run around the restaurant, destroy anything, or behave dangerously. She was simply upset and crying. If noise was truly the issue, then why was our child singled out in an already extremely loud restaurant? What makes the experience even more uncomfortable is that we already felt we were greeted rudely by our first server. I do want to recognize the gentleman who was calling names for the tables. He was very kind and welcoming, and I appreciated his professionalism. As for the owner, I am extremely disappointed that someone who owns a restaurant would treat paying customers and their child this way. Families with young children deserve to know what kind of environment they are walking into. If children, or the normal behavior that occasionally comes with having toddlers are not welcome in your establishment, that should be clearly communicated to customers before they sit down and order food. We will not be returning, and I hope no other family is made to feel as unwelcome and embarrassed as ours was today.

Their patio area is really cute, and they have plenty of seating both outside and inside. The only downside was the service. It took us over 15 minutes just to place our drink order, and then it took a while for our drinks to come out. Since it was a warmer day, it would've been nice to have water on the table right away. I actually received my food before I even got my water or the drink I ordered, which was a little disappointing. The good thing is once we finally placed our food order, it came out really fast! I ordered the Mexican Skillet, which comes with eggs, chicken chorizo, onions, peppers, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, tater tots, and a tortilla. It was really good! The only thing I felt it was missing was salsa. I think having salsa on top or even on the side would have made this dish even better and added that extra flavor it needed. We also tried the Chicken and Waffles, which came with southern fried chicken, pork sausage country gravy, a Belgian waffle, pecan butter, and maple syrup. The waffle was delicious, and the pork sausage gravy had a really good flavor. The portion was also very generous. I was only able to eat about half of my meal. Overall, the food was good, and the restaurant itself is really cute. The patio is a great spot to sit, especially on a nice day. However, the service was the biggest downside of our visit. Even after finishing our food, it took a while for our server to check on us. After getting our check, we also waited quite a bit for our to go boxes and eventually decided to just ask for them at the front because we had been waiting so long. The restaurant wasn't packed, so I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but I do think it's something to keep in mind if you're coming here. If you're not in a rush and want to enjoy a slower brunch, it could be a nice spot. The food was good, but because of the service, I'm not sure if I would come back.

We asked our server what she recommended and she said the waffle fries and French toast are great. While we passed on the French Toast (this time- I'm more of a savory breakfast person) we did get waffle fries ($7) and their Zebra Special ($15.50) that comes with two eggs, meat (ham, bacon or sausage), hash browns, and choice of toast. We paid a little extra to get a biscuit with gravy instead of toast. We also ordered jello shots for the group and it was very fun having morning jello shots with breakfast. They have a lot of televisions here and seem to serve as a watch party destination for a lot of sports fans. They also have an outdoor area, which is great for groups, but we also noticed that the small of people smoking wafted into the inner dining area from outside which was a drawback for me. The staff here was so nice and attentive and we had so much fun with our group here. Would highly recommend checking them out.

Well, the meat was cold and it seemed like all that was done was fry the tortilla. We explained the food was cold and instead of ensuring the meat was warm, Mike stuck the food in the microwave - with the lettuce, tomato, and cheese! Now the server, Shana, gets 5 stars. She was understanding and apologized when we said the meat was cold AND after it was put into the microwave. I feel like Shana knows customer service.

I love when places give each ingredient its time, you can taste every individual thing on your plate and it's not drowned out with sauce or seasoning. It's not simple by any means but it's like a simplicity that's so pleasant. And omg the bacon, I mean go figure it's named bacon and butter but their bacon is SO perfect. Service is awesome, nice little group of people that are so friendly and hospitable.

Our group ordered a variety of items and most were happy with their orders once they received what they ordered. One friend ordered hard eggs with a side of fruit but was served runny eggs with a side of potatoes. As soon as the server was notified, it was corrected. Eggs were still a little too runny for her, lol. Hubby and I shared a chicken and waffles and burrito. It's a vegan burrito, but decided to add cheese. We enjoyed both plates, specially enjoyed the complexity of flavors in the chicken and waffle with the fig syrup. Will say portions were huge. He ordered the old-fashioned, which was initially very buzzy. About halfway into it figured out it wasn't stirred, leaving all the sweetness on the bottom and booze on top. We opted for the first available table, which was outside. Could use a few more umbrellas for better sun protection, but we managed. Overall good experience, would be nice if they took reservations. Not sure if I'd do it again due to the long wait and everything was very good, but not exceptional.
