    Kasoy
    Alison W.

I stopped in this plaza for lunch. My first choice was closed so I stumbled onto this place. I'm always dwn for boba but was excited they also serve noodle soups. Though pho was in their name, I saw they offered kasoy. I'd had kasoy once before and really liked it. I don't know a lot of places that have this Mien noodle soup so I had to get it. I ordered a bowl at the counter and sat myself down. I for some reason, didn't get a boba drink and am glad I didn't because the bowl that arrived at my table was huge and it filled me up so much. I was skeptical at first as I thought it was mostly broth. But underneath the broth, there were huge hor fun aka thick rice noodles. And it included onions, ground pork, shredded chicken, beef balls, and shrimp. The both was hot and flavorful. The noodles were a bit hard and stuck together. I wish they were more broken apart but I just let it sit in the broth a bit to warm up and get softer. They also gave me a plate of bean sprouts, lime and jalapenos. Service was friendly and food came out super quick. My only other small little gripe was there were flies flying around the place and my food and table, which was a bit annoying.

I gotta say I'm happy with the result each time I mobile order online for the pig intestine story fry and the beef raw laab with sticky rice. The spicy level hits the spot for the intestine stir fry. I usually have to add more salt or fish sauce to my raw laab to make it a little better. And also, more Asian herbs too. My go to for raw laab in Oroville/Chico. Thanks for the great food!

The service is okay okay depending on how busy and how quick. The young ladies here were friendly. My boyfriend and I dine in. The food came out faster than the drinks. We got the drinks after we finish eating. The portions were huge.

So there I was... sitting on an oil rig in Alaska, talking to a sheriff's deputy with over 20 years…read moreon the job. He says, "My buddies keep telling me about this place called Pho King Good." Funny part? Even he had never been there. Well, that little story stuck with me. Fast forward a few weeks. My road trip partner, Koda, and I are heading home from Disneyland, cutting through Sacramento toward Grass Valley. We roll into Auburn and BOOM there it is. Pho King Good. Now let's just take a second to appreciate that name. If you're gonna swing for the fences with a name like Pho King Good, you've set the bar about as high as Mount Everest. You don't get to be "pretty decent." You'd better make me question every bowl of pho I've ever eaten. The sign? Absolutely iconic. It practically jumps out and hollers at you from the side of the road. Easy in, easy out. Road-tripper approved. Walking inside, though, I was expecting a little more "Pho King Palace" and a little less "we've been meaning to remodel since the Clinton administration." The marble counter looked nice enough, but the place just felt like it needed a little love. If I owned a restaurant with a name that good, I'd lean into it. Give me lanterns. Give me atmosphere. Make me feel like the King just walked in. Charge me another couple bucks if you have to I wouldn't mind if the experience matched the name. Then came the menu. It felt a little like Dysfunction Junction. They had everything listed, but it wasn't organized in a way that made ordering easy. Give me sections. House Pho. Beef Pho. Chicken Pho. Special Pho. Help a hungry traveler out. The food? Solid... right down the middle of the road. After hours in the car, a hot bowl of pho hits the spot no matter what. Koda really enjoyed his chicken dish, and our vegetable egg rolls with the peanut sauce were decent, although the wrapper was just a touch on the rubbery side. The owner was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, which always counts for something. My only real disappointment was this: with a name like Pho King Good, I expected to leave saying, "That's the best pho I've ever had." Instead, I left saying, "That was... good." And then came the plot twist. Time to pay. Cash only. So now I'm walking out to the ATM like I'm making a withdrawal for a back-alley poker game or a dispensary run. I'm standing there thinking, "Well... this tip just took a hit because I wasn't planning on paying an ATM fee for my noodles." I still don't quite understand it. You're giving change, printing receipts, running a business... we're already 95% of the way to taking cards! Overall, this wasn't about whether the food was amazing or terrible. It was about the experience. Sometimes that's the story worth telling. Would I stop again on another road trip? Probably. Because sometimes a bowl of pho, your best buddy Koda riding shotgun, and a restaurant with the greatest pun in California are all you really need. And if they ever decide to polish the place up and make it live up to that legendary name... It might just become Pho King Great.

VEGAN SIGHTING!!! I…read moredon't even know where to start my fellow vegans. This quirky, Vietnamese restaurant in the city of Auburn, CA, has by far the best vegan Banh Mi sandwich. The tofu was prepared so it did not take up the whole sandwich. The pickled radish and carrots had the perfect and balanced of sour and sweet. Of course, can't leave out the herbs of cilantro and fresh jalapinjoes. The french bread was crispy outside but still soft and hearty as you take a bite. My earth was it a 2 thumbs up!!! Then their vegan pho with veggies and tofu did not disappoint. Their veggie broth was perfectly blended and made wonderfully that I was not even thinking this was vegan. The staff was kind and informative. They were attentive and friendly. Then comes the merch. If you like a play on the word Pho, then come and check out their shirts for sale. All I have to say is "Life is Pho king good." With this said, another gem in Auburn, CA.

Almost feels amiss when an area doesn't have a good pho place around and it's nice that this one's situated at the mall so after a nice stroll in the mall or lollygagging around , and you're in the mood for pho, theres Pho Yuba to stop by at. The bowl looked beautiful and it had all the things you would expect, but even so it tasted bland. I think it was the noodles. They seemed to have been cooked previously and were in small pieces instead of normal sized noodles. The meat was good, all the veggies were good and the fish sauce tasted right but all together it fell flat. My son thought the same thing about his beef noodle bowl. There was one person at the register and would seat the guests and take their order. And that is all she did, no greeting, no check back on the food and no goodbye. She didn't even bring the check when we were done and had to go up and get it. We ran out of napkins and had to go ask for them as well. No water refills, etc. We ordered the two meat and noodle bowls and the other in our party ordered an bahn mi sandwich. It came out with in a couple minutes and then we had to wait another 10 minutes or so for our noodle bowls. Didn't like that either. I will go back again and try the pho and hope the service is better.

The broth I think tastes the same so that's good. However, I noticed that the beef slices were so much tougher and dryer now. Previously, the slices were thin and slightly rare when coming out so they weren't over done. Now, the cuts are thick and chunky and much tougher to chew. Interestingly, they just dump the cilantro into the soup directly rather than have it on the side for you to garnish. They still provide a sizable pieces of tripe, which I like. The tendon is smaller and not as big chunks as before. Sadly, I left a bit disappointed. I might try again in another couple of months to see if they return to the previous level of quality.

On top of all this, the combination pho should come with tripe and tendon, I only found a few measly pieces of tripe and tendon (see pictures). The brisket and beef slices were a bit dry.
