Visited May 27 2026 in Oroville. See my receipt. This is definitely a hole in the wall vibe! They open at 11am and offer lunch specials. They close at 2pm and the reopen at 4pm for dinner. I was hesitant to get anything because it didn't seem to be very clean but my boyfriend said to try it. I got the 2 entree with 1 side lunch special which was noodles with kung pao chicken and brocoli and beef. Very small portions stuffed into a small container. The beef was ok but only saw a couple pieces of chicken (mainly vegetables). The locals tell me it's been around a long time. Alot of takeout orders. Acceptable. The black pepper steak is very good! Everything else was very disappointing. I did not like the sweet & sour sauce. The wontons were terrible-nothing inside but a little bit of watery cream cheese-no seasoning, no onion, no meat, nothing. I did not like the breading on the chicken-it was too thick and tasteless. The food, mind blowing dilemmas " WHAT to try? , we fed 6 big eaters & 2 toddlers... fantastic food, traditional , fresh , delicious food that hit each note of a fabulous takeaway, tasting experience! . This place is literally a hole in the wall...was looking for some Chinese food that was not Panda Express and I stumbled upon this place. The restaurant is nestled downtown across the public parking and literally down the street from the theater. This is not a fancy restaurant as it's more catered for to go orders...however there is seating inside. The food is displayed in trays and you choose as you order. The food is made fresh and if they run out, the cook in the back is making a new batch... The portions are HUGE!!!! You get what you paid for!! See the photos! The lunch plates are reasonably priced with good variety - where Pings shines is when we order from the menu! They are great at customizing the food to our tastes and dietary needs. Their shrimp is cravable and their veggies delectable. My husband loves their Beef Chow Mein with soft noodles. It's Not fancy - we usually take out - but we prefer it to the other local Chinese food choices. read more

This place does not get enough chatter. I almost hesitate to recommend it just because it seems like a hidden gem but it is outstanding! It's a small place with friendly staff. Really only acceptable for takeout. No table service, no plates, all containers including cups, including for eat in are disposable. So then I guess it's Chinese fast food without the fast part, and being as expensive as a regular full service eat in restaurant? And the food was just ok. I went to go get dinner this Tuesday evening at this local Chinese restaurant, and I recommended picking this place due to the great food and big portions. Unfortunately tonight it was completely the opposite. I got a orange chicken combo plate for my daughter, and a regular order of chow mien, fried rice and beef. The ENTIRE bill came out to 81$ which I thought was absurd due to the fact of the prices were a bit more cheaper the last time I went and also the fact of not getting much food to begin with... not to mention the tip that he asked for me leave. Anyways, I kind of brushed it off due to my great experiences before and I hoped I was going to get as much as I paid for. I was dead wrong. The portions were half of the normal size, the flavor is completely gone in the food, it was completely overpriced for what I got. 100$ for a tiny bag of food that wasn't even good. The food is outstanding. It is a perfect place for lunch. The steam table is ready with fantastic selections from 11-2. Wednesday is very popular as they serve salt and pepper fish as one of the options. The fish replaces pork on that one day a week. Service is usually very fast at lunch time so you won't be late getting back to work. read more

I like their combo meal. It's not too bad. I like their spicy pork. It's really good. As mention in the caption of the picture the fried pork I wasn't too much a fan of the soy sauce base. They let you do both sides of chow mien and rice for 1 side. The customer service is polite nice. read more

I really like this spot for Chinese food. But let's be honest there isn't really much to chose from in Oroville. With that said let's talk about what's good: What's good: Beef and broccoli: not to sound too cliche but this is bomb. It's a common dish and they do it well here. Beef is tender, like you would expect and the sauce they use (yum!) Sautéed chicken and green bean: it's usually not my go-to, but they really make it well here. the flavor profile is legit and this is coming from a Chinese person who's picky about Chinese food. But then again I like CERTAIN dishes from Panda Express and PF Chang, sooo take it with a grain of salt (lol). Salt and pepper spareribs: you can't go wrong with this dish. It's everything u want in a dish, sweet, crispy, fatty, and salty with a little kick. My go-to order every time I visit. A MUST ORDER What's ok: House chow fun: it's aight better than their beef chow fun personally speaking. The flavor is better at least to me. It comes with various meats in the dish so it's fun to eat if you get bored easily eating the same things. Mapu Tofu: it's their way of making mapu tofu. Meaning it's not the Sichuan style, but decent What's ok: beef chow fun: it's not what you would expect, the flavor is a bit off. It's not bad, but I'm used to a certain flavor profile and taste when it comes to beef chowfun made by Cantonese or hk people and this isn't it. Eh: west lake soup. I was craving for soup so I ordered this. It's whatever. Meh Stay away!! Wonton soup: not sure if it was a bad batch or what, but stay away. Best Chinese food for 300 miles. They are busy and I was lucky to get through on the phone today. We ordered 7 entrees. Not greasy , not salty. Beautifully cooked vegetables and beautifully cooked mushrooms. This little gem has AMAZING food, and they always give us so much we have enough for three meals for the two of us.
