If you are feeling alittle under the weather or getting over a cold this soup is wonderful ! Love the side of jalepenos! I also got the drunken noodles...level 7 heat. I could have easily went to level 9! I love spicy and the dish had tender beef with carrots and cabbage. Very tasty! They were surprised I could take the heat..lol! Good for dining but a little weird and off for takeout. Done take out twice now. The first time our food was ready when I received the notification it was ready, but the guy who seemed to be doing all of the late work at least in front seem to be on some type of speed or cocaine as he was just all over the place and totally ADHD and Scattered rain but nice. The next takeout order was a very awkward female employee who spoke so low you couldn't hear anything and even though I had notification and text my order was ready, it wasn't ready. No explanation as to why I received the notification it was ready. And if she had just explained anything like maybe online orders will sometimes just say the orders ready just because of the time from the order instead of someone actually marking it's ready for pickup, she explained absolutely nothing. It was a very strange and awkward interaction, with someone who should have no front of the business job, as she didn't know how to interact with humans. Maybe I came with the wrong expectations. For a place called pho Noodle House I was expecting more of a Vietnamese pho rather than a Thai or Lao take on the dish. Regardless of the style of the pho, something that really bugged me was how dry and hard to chew the cuts of beef were. I found myself just eating it just to finish the meal and didn't really enjoy the experience. The broth didn't taste like what I would expect pho to taste it didn't have the same herbal profile of Vietnamese pho. It tasted more like a Teochew style seafood noodle soup. Also no basil, mint, or extra cilantro on the side. I might come back but will probably try the Thai/Lao dishes instead next. read more

As others have said, the atmosphere inside suggests Thai. I was expecting Vietnamese given the restaurants name. Not overly large dining area with plenty seating. I was greeted promptly upon entering, seated and given a menu. It was surprising to see all the many items on their menu...appetizers, salads, pho/noodle soups, pan-fried noodle entrees, rice dishes, chefs specials. I ordered two dishes, their Chow Mein, and the chicken soup. I wasn't expecting the huge bowl that was brought out. Like with a Pho it is the broth that makes the soup a success. The broth was exceptional, the chicken was plentiful, and a ton of noodles. The 2nd dish I ordered, Chow Mein was very tasty. So good that I ate this entree first, not leaving much room to eat all the soup. This is a family owned restaurant, very comfortable and very tasty food. I'll come back again...!!! read more

That was the 3rd time I tried to get the angel wings extra extra extra crispy, almost burnt. That is how I say it so they will get the hint that I really want them effing crispy! Nope, once again they couldn't bring themselves to give the Customer what they want. Then the broth for the pho soup was so oily and flavorless, the worst I have ever tasted. So disappointed in this place, At one time it was good food and a decent price. But I just tried it again and the quality has gone way down but the price went up. Fried rice was bland, the noodle plate with peanuts was like a half order, it only covered half of the to go container and didnt have much flavor. I also ordered mango with sticky rice and the mango was no where near ripe, it was hard ant kind of tart. I am done with this place and wont be going back when there are way better places in town. I just had the absolute worst pad Thai of my life at Noodle House. The sauce was clearly packaged, the veggies they put into it tasted like soil, and nothing about it had any resemblance of real pad Thai. I was greeted shortly after walking in, shown to a table and served shortly after sitting. Great customer service, Ordered the Chicken & Mixed Vegetables Rice dish, Hose Special Pho, Egg roll's appetizer, Yellow Curry and a Thai Iced Tea Egg rolls: looking at the peanut sauce I was a little worried, and while it wasn't exactly the peanut sauce flavor I was expecting, it was still a very good flavored sauce. Egg rolls also very well made, a lot of flavor and a nice crunch to the outside Pho: very flavorful - fairly large bowl of Pho. Add some hoisin sauce and a little sriracha and you're set. Mixed veggie chicken: Again, very flavorful, was not disappointed. Yellow Curry: while the flavor was there, and the flavor was good - the curry sauce tasted almost watered down(?) - it wasn't as bold as I hoped for. Still good, but probably wouldn't get it again. Thai Iced Tea: One of the better Thai Iced Teas I've had, like a solid 8.7 out of 10. What would it take for me to come back: As of right now this is one of my favorite spots in town, will definitely be making it a point to come back here when I'm in town and already planning on making one trip back some time before I leave Oroville. read more

It's been so long since I could give a genuine 5 star review. I was so NOT prepared to be impressed. And, view my other reviews, I am admittedly hard to please. This IS THE PLACE foodies are looking for...in OROVILLE OF ALL PLACES! It looked awful when we arrived. I was almost afraid to eat there. But while we waited outside for them to open for dinner the owner (I assume) pulled up and greeted us. He was bringing a large box of leaved branches into the restaurant. He asked my son if he knew what they were and then proceeded to pluck some leaves and crush them for my son to smell and even explained the medicinal value of the lime leaves. They smelled so delicious and appeared to have be freshly cut from a bush (tree?). They smelled amazing. We went in and found a spot. Again, I was hesitant to be hopeful. We ordered 2 Thai iced teas (one w chewy boba), potstickers, salad rolls w prawns, well done steak pho w extra noodles and chicken Thai green curry. I wish I had taken more pics for you all! First....we literally came in, sat, ordered, HAD APPETIZERS, ate, paid and left in about 30 minutes. It was THAT FAST. The Thai iced teas were good. Sweet for my tastes but most things are. For most people they are probably perfect so I give them a pass. The salad rolls....they are...I mean....just have then. Just do. They are so FRAGRANT with FRESH HERBS. Honestly I don't think I'd miss the prawns. The sauce was delicious but even without ...the wrappers were thick enough to hold all of the PLENTIFUL filling with the perfect amount of chew and the fresh basil...everything in it was so CRISP. I could have eaten just those and been happy. I did have the green curry chicken and it was ALSO delicious with fresh vegetables and herbs in a creamy spicy green coconut broth. The chicken itself was nothing special and a bit tough but everything was so delicious, I can't even take a point for this. Next time I will try the salad rolls without prawns and try the prawn green curry instead. I am already fantasizing. I tried my sons pot stickers and....I DO BELIEVE THEY MAKE THEM IN HOUSE. They looked like someone's grandmother made them....in the best possible way. I had some of his pho and the broth was clear and PACKED WITH FLAVOR....layers of flavors. It was a whole experience. The add ins looked fresh and delicious too. If you are looking for modern day convenience and reheated processed foods this is not your jam. This place is not a authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The food was mostly Thai / Lao options and just a few noodles dishes. I ordered a pho ťai and mango sticky rice, the mango sticky rice rice was spoiled and the rice tasted sour. I would not come back nor would I recommend this place to anyone. Came here for lunch and got the pad see ew. It tasted great but not anything special. Noodles were cooked well and I ordered it with veggies- turned out to be broccoli, carrot, and cabbage. We also got an order of egg rolls and those were fantastic! Service was quick and overall feel of the place was basic. First off, this place overcharged us. Our total should only be around $65, but they charged us $82. I didn't feel like making a scene so I agreed to pay. The worst part was the look of disgust I got when I didn't tip. Would you if you knew you were being ripped off? Food wise, the pho portion is on the smaller size. The papaya was not fresh. The veggies for the pho was not fresh. The good part was the flavor. It tastes great, but that's about it. Would not recommend unless it's your only option. read more

The decorations in place is pretty cool. It isn't super cluttered with decor which is a positive Aspect. When i came in they weren't quick to seat me eventhough the restaurant was pretty empty. They lost a star for that. I ordered a chicken pho, which came out pretty fast. It was pretyy good. The broth is a little more rich and salty than i would like but that is probably my own personal preference. The employee's are also super friendly with everyone and there seems to be a lot of locals that come in to eat lunche. The restroom is all tile, a shelf thingy and even has fake flowers which really livens up the room. I would've posted a picture but that might be too much. Lol. We were in town for work and my manager and I came by for lunch. The first place we wanted to go to was closed so we ended up here. They had a sign on the door that they were opening a little later than their normal operating hours. So we had to wait a little bit outside. Anyways when they opened the door, we were able to pick our own table and they brought out their menu. The name of the place had pho in it but the décor seemed more thai. So I decided to just get a thai dish. I got the drunken noodles with pork. They have a variety of proteins to choose from. My manager got the pad thai with chicken. Food came out quickly. We were one of the first people in there but it quickly filled up for lunch. Lots of people coming on their lunch breaks. My noodles were fine. Lots of veggies in there and pork too. I actually wish there were more noodles. Also I thought it would be swimming in sauce, given it's name but they definitely showed restraint. Haha. Portion wise, it was perfect for me; not too much, not too little. Paid the check and left and all done in 45 minutes. I only saw one server in the front working; everyone else in the back. I've been to a few Thai restaurants and this one sticks out to me. The employees really treat you like family and the curry tastes like a warm hug on a cold day. All the vegetables in the curry were fresh and the curry wasn't too spicy nor was it not spicy at all, but it was perfect. When dining at an establishment that advertises themselves as the "best pho in town" be certain to order the pho. I learned this lesson the hard way earlier in the year. Three friends who had dined here before made the decision to return here because they enjoyed the pho on their first visit. I was sharing a ride with them on our way to a weekend service project at Camp Okizu up in Berry Creek just above the town of Oroville. Earlier in the day while still in San Francisco I had a bowl of wonton noodle soup for lunch so I really wasn't in the mood to have noodle soup again for dinner. I was happy to find non soup items on their menu and after much indecision I decided to order the Cashew Nut Rice Plate on their specials board. The selection came with your choice of protein and I selected chicken. Our food came out of the kitchen rather quickly but at different stages. Granted we were the only party seated when we arrived although several other tables filled while we were still studying the menu. All of my friends' dishes looked very good. Two had pho and another had a curry rice dish. My plate was the last to come out of kitchen. I kind of knew right away that maybe I made the wrong choice when I saw my food (http://bit.ly/2lA617Q). With the amount of liquid on that rice plate it might have well been a soup, and although all of the ingredients tasted fresh the seasoning was just way off and super salty. Needless to say I didn't finish my dinner that night, and I was willing to go hungry for the night rather than eating the salt bomb that had been placed in front of me. Thankfully my friends (and other friends) brought snacks to share and lots of beer and spirits once we checked into the lodge at camp so I didn't have to go hungry for the night. On the plus side the restaurant staff was warm and friendly and the restaurant had super clean restrooms. If I find myself here again on a future Camp Okizu trip I will certainly try the pho. read more

Pretty good food. I had the Drunken Noodles which had a nice balanced flavor. I chose tofu and it was cooked just right.... Crispy on outside which is how I like it. The dish had a nice assortment of vegetables as well including zucchini which was a treat. Noodles themselves were broken up, not the full wide noodles on a traditional dish but I did find it made it more enjoyable to eat at way. You could really get a little but of everything in a bite.
