*review is based on reply to AI find-a-business conversation only*…read more TL;DR: weren't able to do a simple alteration (due to a quality that i noted in the AI chat message sent over to them) that another business had no problem with, BUT they were quick to reply and told me no without having me come in im not sure how simple of alterations they do, but it seems to be simpler than the surrounding businesses' usual. i was requesting a simple side take-in of a polyester dress with mesh overlay (notated in the AI message sent out), but they were unable to do it. for background, i am an intermediate-level DIY seamstress, with a grandmother who runs a sewing/alterations store (a state away which is why i reached out to businesses here). this is a pretty simple alteration, so i was surprised when they said they could not do it. i drove to the closest alterations place that was open, and they had no problem with the dress fabric regarding the take in (i showed the dress before i bothered trying it on to make sure) i am attaching the details yelp provided to the business as well as the conversation. the only additional thing i added to the AI was the part of the side seams with zipper in the back, maybe altering cups (after i responded to them saying that, for the other businesses to see that information) im not sure if this is a review more so on the business or AI feature. i will say- they were quick to reply and did tell me no, rather than having me come in and telling me no or potentially messing up the dress.

Would have been happy to pay extra to have this done correctly. I did explicitly tell them, "no new piercings". This is perhaps my fault and a learning experience - materials like leather should be brought to a shop that specializes in leather. However, I would have rather them simply refuse to work on this item than create new holes in the item. I am not asking for anything - I will simply have this redone at a leather specializing shop. This place was very close to my work so it as extremely convenient for me to take my dress to get tailored on lunch my break so I chose to come here. They charged me $60 to get my dress taken in a tiny bit at the waist and to get the pads out. And it was still too big. I tried to communicate with the lady that I wasn't satisfied and she refused to help me or give me any money off. Now I'm stuck keeping this dress. I am extremely disappointed. She told me she could nothing for me and after I paid she walked away and that was it. You can go here if you want but make sure you ask for the price first and ask what will you do if I'm not satisfied. I might not even wear this dress now. And I can't return it because I've had it tailored. I believe if you want to run a business that gives you lasting customers, you should at least offer to help if your customer isn't happy. I am a very reasonable happy person. She also said she could keep my dress if I didn't pay the $60! Which was so unprofessional. The wedding I am going to is on Saturday and I'm thankful I purchased a back up dress. It will be a game time decision but im extremely dissatisfied as I was so happy I was treating myself to a tailored fitted dress. word of mouth is the most important refferal system as it cost no money in marketing and I would have been a wonderful referral system for this lady as well, as everyone asks me for referrals for everything. For simpler alterations like a hem adjustment, darts in tops, etc., you may be able to get a more affordable alteration elsewhere. The staff is very helpful in figuring out exactly what types of alterations are needed to ensure a great overall fit, and for gowns and dresses, that expertise is a definitely added value to the service. Imagine the frustration when I pulled up at 445 and shop was closed. Business hours on the door had been changed to 5...though still it was only 445. While I do understand 15 minutes isn't much time, 445 isn't 5 and 5 isn't 6. Huge inconvenience to drive across the city to attempt to "shop small". And spoiler alert, Monarch Tailors also decided to change their hours without updating public information. So if you're reading this in a pinch--they're no better.
