They laughed in my face when I asked if they could help me with an alteration. I needed a bridesmaids dress taken out a bit for a wedding. I've had this done twice at other places and know exactly how they do it. They said they don't do that. Didn't ask me to try on the dress to see how much needs altering, didn't ask me how soon I needed it. If you can't do something, you should definitely take the time to explain why to the customer and offer other suggestions. They literally told me to go find someone else. Time alterations used to be my go-to alterations place in the area. I've been in 7 weddings and had all bridesmaids dresses altered here. Came in here for the first time a few months ago to get a dress altered that was too big the very first time it was very reliable and very nice. Today I came in to get some pants altered that were too big and to cut a little shorter immediately when I showed Lady the pants she kept saying no no no no, and not giving me any explanation as to what she was saying no about. Then she shared that it would be a lot of money to make my pants smaller and to cut them. I shared with her I have no problem with that. How much does it cost? She tells me $70 I tell her I'm not sure why and $70 because my grandmother is a seamstress. She responds with "tell your grandmother to do it." This interaction was no more than 30 seconds. I've used them for a year now, with no problems, until today. I picked up two pair of pants they were to hem for me, but didn't try them on until I got home. When I tried them on, the pant legs were dragging the ground. When I returned to their shop they claimed they'd done the work (they didn't, the manufacturer stitching was still intact). I can not say enough good things about this alterations shop. Not only are the prices VERY reasonable, but the quality of craftsmanship is top tier. I first tried this business to have a formal gown taken in around the bust and shortened straps to create a tighter feel and the seamstress was not only pleasant to work with, but quick and exceeded all expectations of the alteration. Most revelry I dropped by to have a zipper replaced on satin shorts and they once again exceed my expectations. At first when they told me $50 for a hemming, I thought It sounded steep and decided to shop around. This place is phenomenal. I took a bridesmaids dress and six pair of wide leg dress pants in on a Saturday morning and everything was ready for me to pick up on Monday before noon. She took in my bridesmaid dress and then turned all of my wide leg pants into slim leg pants. My total was $166 which is not bad considering I spent somewhere between $30-50 for each pair of use pants that I have not worn in over a year. So it's like I got some brand new pants to wear to work now. They have absolutely won me over as a customer I will be taking all of my items to this location moving forward. read more

I went in wanting to take an African dress out. The dress had extra material in order to be taken out. At first they said they couldn't do it for me. Then I showed them it had extra material so it could be taken out. I was [not]blessed with my dad's physical proportions which leaves me with broad shoulders and short arms and legs. Suit jackets have to be purchased on a "regular" but need to have the sleeves shortened. Pants have to be hemmed - since "short/petite" lengths all seem to be getting longer than they used to be (or am I getting shorter???) This means finding a good alterations shop is really important - and since I'm new to the area, I did a quick yelp search. I had a few new beautiful suit jackets with full lining and a pair of slacks and they did a GORGEOUS job - I think the sewing looks better than the original! I had last minute work travel and they were acoomodating to get everything done for me in just 2 days! Prices are VERY reasonable. read more

Sweet lady, great turn around but I needed the to fix the collar of my dress. The shoulder seam is an inch below my shoulder and off kilter on each side. It looks dumb and she explained that the design doesn't allow for the shoulder seam needs to be. Which is fine but if you're gonna stitch it an inch down at least let it be even. I asked for a discount since the craftsmanship was off and she got haughty with me. I can't stand it when people don't take responsibility for their actions. I would have been fine and left a glowing review and brought back more business if I had gotten the simple discount I asked for after being on the receiving end of poor workmanship. I chose Time Alterations based upon their good reviews after being frustrated over the hit and miss quality of work, long wait times to pick up my clothes, and high alteration charges at other shops. I only purchase good quality, higher end brands, but have to have many pieces altered as I am very particular about fit. In the 2 years since I've been coming here, I have never had to bring anything back. Everything fits perfectly and the quality of work is outstanding. The owner is an excellent fitter, honest and knowledgeable, and understands how I like things to fit. I bring in new garments just to get her opinion. The shop is clean and attractive, and work is done quickly. That said, I had to speak to the negative review recently left regarding a Vince Camuto dress alteration. Vince Camuto makes wonderful shoes, but my personal experience (and I'm not alone) with the clothing line is that the fabric and workmanship are not up to the standards you would expect from the brand. In any case, a review is meant to be an honest description of your experience with a business, whether good or bad, to help others make decisions. But it should never include expletives, threats or name calling - all undeserved by anyone, to say the least, and hopefully, that review will be dismissed for what it is. It doesn't seem right that you could publish that type of review. read more

I am a longtime customer but unfortunately recently I had several pants hemed and three of them were not done right. They were way too long as if they were not hemed at all. When I took them back the owner became very angry and said he put them where they pinned them and told "got it". Nice owners until they have to admit their wrong. My daughter is in tears right now. She left her dress with Time Alterations to be worn for NYE. The owner told her to come back to pick the dress up on New Year's Eve before 4pm. She arrived at 2:30, only to find out they closed early, with her dress inside the shop!!!!! I've used Time Alterations' services 4 times for roughly 12 articles of clothing and feel I can give them a proper review. I want to open up by stating the quality of their work is good and I have not been unhappy with any of their work. Also, they have a decent turnaround time compared to major retail store's alteration services. It's a family owned store and they seem like decent people. However, I do have some feedback for Time Alterations' and a warning for cost-conscious people. A theme I have consistently seen while observing other customers, as well as something that has recently affected me, is that their costs (amount charged) for alterations appears to be entirely subjective. So their cost menu, which is currently their Yelp profile photo, will likely not reflect your final bill. This is frustrating and I brought it up to the owner in my last visit. I asked him to point out how he came to my final bill on the cost menu and he could not. After some time, all they could show was a receipt for another customer's jacket alteration which they also charged $30 (the most expensive jacket alteration on their Price Menu is $25.) I've seen other customers frustrated with this as well. All of this being said, even though their cost charged at checkout appears to be entirely subjective, the overall price was still reasonable. It just gives me the vibe they're looking for a "quick buck". In summary, I plan to keep using their services as it is quick, quality work. I will say that my first couple of years going to Time were great. They have good prices and the work is timely. However, in the few times that there were issues with my alterations the customer service was less than poor. When Helen gets it right (which to be fair, most of the time she does) it's great, but when she makes a mistake be prepared as feedback is not well received and you may be insulted. I would trust my more expensive specialty items with an appropriate seamstress. It was a week and a half before the wedding and my previous attempt to get the dress altered elsewhere had fallen through. The gentleman at Time Alterations assured me by phone that he could have my dress ready in time. When I arrived, a woman named Helen measured me in a few short minutes, and I left the dress with her. I too chose Time Alterations because of the strong reviews on Yelp. And I was not at all disappointed. To date, I have had them alter 5 pairs of pants. Three were fairly standard hem and waist alterations on new suit pants. Two were more complicated, involving pants from older suits that I wanted to be made more contemporary (slimmer throughout the leg, etc.) They also adjusted two suit jackets, trimming them down to a more modern look. All alterations came out great and were finished in less than a week. They are moderately priced, but well worth the cost. It's also a family-run business, which I appreciate. They ruined my $90 juicy pants. They only pinned one leg and then must have stretched the other to match instead of measuring or pinning to cut. The pinned leg length was great, but the other leg was over 1.5" shorter. My husband couldn't believe the difference. When I went back to ask her to fix and refund the cost, she refused the refund and said she would "re-hem" for free, HA!. She got very upset when I called the problem a mistake. Now the pinned leg is shorter than I wanted, with a hem that doesn't look original, and the short leg is still quite a bit shorter than I wanted. I have to wear these with flip flops to attempt to mask the error, but it is still obvious. It really bothered me that they wouldn't admit the mistake and now my $90 juicy pants are not at all like I wanted. Expensive mistake. Very disappointed. Will never go back. read more
