Amazing tailor - she helped with many of my formal event alterations along with alterations for my very own wedding pieces. She has many years of experience and always welcomes me with the biggest smile! read more

Stay away! Stay Far away! She did a terrible job altering my shirt. I had to take it back. Overpriced. She charged $40 to alter a running 1/2 zip. When I got home all the threads started coming loose. I took it back and she said she'd have it ready in two days. When I came back in two days, she had forgotten to do it and asked me to come back the next day. This woman runs around like a chicken with its head, cut off awful awful awful customer service. I will not be back and you should not either. read more

DO NOT GO HERE THEY WILL RUIN YOUR CLOTHES!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Had 2 pairs of brand new brooks brothers pants ruined by cutting off far more than was asked for in hemming. When I went back to speak with owner about this she started yelling saying this wasn't her fault (not sure who else's fault it would be since she did the work), did not apologize, refused to refund us. We are now out the $ spent here in addition to $300 spent on brand new pants that can now not be worn since altered too short. The worst service ever I will never return! Would not recommend to anyone read more

Dropped my dress off last Friday to get it taken in it was a three layer dress (bridesmaid dress) she called me a day earlier than what I was suppose to to pick it up and told me that she'll be done that Thursday I tried it on once I got home and it was a perfect fit I would definitely be coming back and I would definitely recommend this place. They got my dress out in a tiny manner with it being rushed. Thannnk you royal alterations read more

I come to Laura for alterations on all my dresses and jackets. She does a great job and the turnaround time is very good. I feel comfortable purchasing sale items, knowing I have a trustworthy seamstress that never disappoints. Laura is amazing and has saved me on multiple occasions where I needed a dress altered immediately. (I try to bring items in at least two weeks before the event, however, I was part of a bridal party and gained some weight and needed a new dress ASAP.) Laura is the best and I cannot stress this enough! :) read more

It's hard to find a good tailor and I consider myself lucky to have found Laura at Royal Alteration. It's been over four years since I posted my original review for this shop and I have remained a loyal customer all these years and then some. The business is growing. She has added staff and now tailors clothing and accessories for a very prominent music band based in Atlanta. In addition, some of her clients include local professional athletes. Because she is busier, her turnaround time isn't as quick as it used to be. I used to be able to pick up stuff in just a week, but now it sometimes takes longer. I try to plan ahead when bringing clothing to her, so I won't be in a rush. As mentioned previously, I have taken various articles of clothing here including work pants, jeans, shorts, dress shirts (the long sleeve, button-up kind), and a jacket. She has done great work on everything. If you are having jeans shortened, she can preserve the original bottom hem of the jeans at your request. I recommend it -- it looks much better that way. Where I think Laura really works her magic is on dress shirts. She tailors them to fit, however you prefer, in the sleeve, at the sides, and lengthwise. She even maintains the original curves at the bottom of the shirt. I love my dress shirts after she is done with them. They aren't too baggy or poofy anymore and they look nice and neat, tucked in or out. I have run into a few instances where the work wasn't perfect (e.g. the arm holes were too snug), so I took the clothes back to the shop, tried them on and pointed out the problem areas to Laura. She fixed them for me free of charge. Overall, I have been very pleased. She is an excellent tailor and I cannot recommend her enough. read more

I was told it would take 3 weeks to take in my dress. I went to go pick it up and they were closed. The store hours were not accurate and now I can't wear a dress I've already paid for. They make you pay up front as well, so just be very very aware before dropping something off for an event. read more

Laura is amazing!!! Kind and do an incredible job on a dress for me!! Super reasonable too!!

I had gone to this shop many times and had no problems. I was a frequent customer who always tipped generously. The alterations were always well done. Unfortunately, the last two times I have gone in , my clothes were not ready by the date I was told. The first time, I had dropped a dress off in a hurry, so I completely understood why it wasn't ready yet. I waited about 30 minutes and it was ready. No problem. We are all busy people. However, in the middle of November I dropped off several pieces I needed altered for a vacation about 3 weeks away. I was told the clothes would be ready Dec 7. That's far away but it's the holidays, I understand being busy. I went to pick up my clothes on Dec 10th, and was told they weren't ready and would be ready the next day. It's hard for me to get over to this location on weekdays before it closes because I work on the other side of town. I hadn't anticipated trying to get over there in time, leaving work early, 2 days in a row. I had to go back the next day Dec 11, because I left for vacation the 12th. I had to leave work early to get the clothes, and then go back to work to finish up before vacation. There was ample time for the alterations to be made. Sadly, this shop is not dependable. I would not recommend it. read more

Work was good, Customer service was not! Drop off went fine, but when I went to go pick it up I was accused of calling and "pushing" to get the dress done. I have not called once since dropping it off. If you're gonna accuse a customer of something, do it to the correct one! How off putting. Sorry I gave them my business. read more

Though I've only ever used one alteration service before, I highly recommend this one. I read reviews of every alterations shop near midtown Atlanta, and this one had the best ratings (and least AWFUL ratings) -- and for good reason! The lady who owns and runs the service is incredibly kind, caring, and personable. She clearly knows what she's doing and puts effort into her work. When I went to pick up my clothing, I tried it on, it fit perfectly, and I felt very happy with the money I spent. I told her how excited I was to finally have a suit that fit well, and before leaving, she hugged both me and my friend! How sweet! From what I heard, her service is slightly (ONLY slightly) more expensive that most, but like I always say: you get what you pay for. read more

Received some faux leather pants that were way too big, that I needed for my sisters bachelorette party in a matter of days, out of town. I went to Laura on a Tuesday asking if she could get it done by Thursday since my flight was Friday morning. she took my measurements and sent me off. I got a call the next day saying my alterations were completed. this was the first time I had ever gotten anything tailored so I was nervous and didn't know the process. Laura made it so easy and the pants fit so much better than expected! highly recommend going here. I will definitely be back here for my alterations. read more

My first time getting alterations and I just chose this random place close by... when I tell y'all she was so quick and knew exactly what I needed! The return time on my items was quick especially with it being Prom Season. Everything was fixed PERFECTLY to fit my body! I recently lost a lot of weight and nothing fit but she fixed some of my most cherished pieces! So grateful. She's the BOMB! thank you thank you thank you! read more

I don't often get items altered (should probably do that more) and was in need of a new place. I found Royal through Yelp reviews and took a chance. I had a vintage dress with pleats that I wanted shortened a bit for a somewhat formal event. I'm not the best at knowing if pricing is competitive or not but since it was a "silky" material with pleats, I can see that it would be harder to work with (cost was about $30). Quality was pretty good, although it needed some slight ironing/re-laying when I came to pick up - which she did. I was slightly worried about how it would look once I put it on but it was totally fine and I had fun wearing it. She does seem to be busy so if you're in a rush, it may not be the best place for you. I needed it a week later and she was fine with that. The one thing I don't like about places like this is paying up front before work is even done. All in all, I'd return. read more

Needed a rush job on a prom dress. Found this place online and the lady let me know she could do the job in the timeframe allotted. I was a bit worried because she wanted us to pick it up on the day of the event...and I didn't feel comfortable with that, just in case something wasn't correct. She agreed to the day before. Picked up the dress on the day before the event and it fit perfectly! Will definitely use this place again for all my alteration needs. read more

So I recently went to this shop for a wedding that I had in about a week. I needed the jacket sleeves altered and my pants hemmed. Also I came by previously and needed to get measured and where everyone else tried to charge me, they didn't. So I'm not really too educated on alterations so as I struggled to know how things are supposed to fit, the lady there was nice and helped me out. At one point I was going to do the sleeves too short and she saved me from embarrassing myself. However my biggest fear was the time constraint. The last place I went to needed more time. The lady here however worked with me with no extra charge, despite having surgery that weekend. I am forever grateful and I will come back here for my alterations from now on. I ended up looking really good in my suit and it was all thanks to her. read more

Came here to get a maid of honor dress altered, but when I went to pick it up they had forgotten about my dress and it wasn't done. The owner was very nice and stayed late to get the dress altered so I was able to pick it up the next morning. Overall the quality of the alterations was good but I probably will not be coming back. read more

Laura was amazing I called to see if they where able to bring my dry cleaning out to my vehicle. She said I sure don't mind what's your order number. She brought it out with so much pleasure and was just overall professional and went the extra mile. Thank you soooo much. read more

My friend amy have been a loyal customer at this place for almost 15 years now and she's very particular so this place must be great right? I decided to bring in 2 suits and 2 coats on 2/12/2013 and the owner promised to get it done within 10 days. When I came back to pick up my stuff(14 days later) she told me "I sorry, I forgot about your clothes"...wow seriously? That made me feel so important. NOT! The owner then promised that it would be done in 5 days so I came back 10 days later and she was like "Ahahaha, I sorry I forgot again....I don't know what about you that make me so forgetful....ahahaha". WHAT? SERIOUSLY? Why would anyone say that to their customers? I have more patients than most doctors so I decide to give her more time but this time I learned my lesson and give her 30 days adnd call the place before making the trip down to there. When I came to pick up my stuff she gave me my 2 suits and said that she didnt have time to fix my 2 coats because it was near prom season and she figure I didnt need my coat until the winter. She then ask me to give her another week....I said OK. I decide to call to see if my coats are done, today is 8/16/2013....yes it was more than 6 months ago that I drop off my clothes and she said that she have not started on it yet but will have it done by Tuesday of next week. Even if she's the best alteration lady in town(which she is not....I found a better person) the fact that she's super flaky and unrelieable make it not worth it.If you want to get your alteration done on time...this is not the place to go. So NO THANKS....please do not waste your time and gas by bringing your clothes to this place. read more

I discovered Royal Alteration in 2003 when I needed an expensive, formal, mermaid-shaped dress tailored. She did such a phenomenal job that I was soon bringing her every piece of clothing that didn't flatter my figure, including fleece pullovers and boxy silk blouses. Yeah, I know, who cinches the waist on a fleece pullover?! Me, LOL. They've been been open for 13 years now and I'm still a loyal customer. Even though I moved to San Francisco and now just moved again to Ann Arbor, it never crosses my mind to find another alteration place. I save everything I need hemmed and altered in a bag and bring it to Laura (the owner) when I'm visiting family in Atlanta. At her suggestion, I now drop off my pile of clothes and have her mail it to me when she's done. Apparently I'm not the only loyal customer who has moved away from Atlanta, which is just a testament to her quality of work. read more

I am always nervous when trying new alterations stores. If they do a bad job you've essentially sacrificed the article of clothing or have to pay someone else to try to fix it. I am so glad to have found this store. I've been bringing pants and shirts for about a year and a half and she does a great job. She's very friendly and listens to what you want. She's an owner you can really establish a relationship with. The other day I tore a seam in my shirt and ran in to drop it off. I completely planned to just leave it and leave in my tank top, but instead she fixed it on the spot without charge. If you ever have an issue, just let her know and she'll make it right. read more

I must say that I've never been more anxious for Monday to come. I recently picked up 5 slacks and a sport coat from here and the lengths and fit is perfect. The family running this place is extremely friendly and they are efficient. It took a week and everything was perfect upon pick up. I'll be going back every chance I get to more stuff altered! read more

Royal Alterations - Pants altered - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

This place is great! I took a pair of beloved motocross style jeans in that i've had for 7 years. I need holes and tears patched, and Royal Alterations worked a miracle. Competitively priced, the lovely lady here reinforced the wear and tear with scrap denim in a way that I'm certain it won't tear again (now I just need to do my part and lay off the Ben & Jerrys). For context, I've actually tried 3 other alterations locations in town - buckhead and a couple in the old fourth ward/midtown area. After being underwhelmed with late alterations, improper tapering jobs and more, I FINALLY feel that I have found someone that i can trust with my clothing. I will continue to bring my business to Royal Alterations, and can't think of a better business. Extremely friendly, always on time and flexible. A++ read more

I dropped off 7 pieces of clothing that needed to be altered...I used them before, but this time I'm very disappointed with the service.  I had a trip coming up, leaving on June 1.  I dropped the items off on May 21st, they said it would be ready on May 31st, to no avail when I called at 11 am on 5/31 to pick them up, she said she hadn't even started on the alterations.  I request to pick up the items for a full refund (because you have to pay upfront which is insane, other places usually only ask for half upfront), and when I get there only 6 items are available.  So not only were my items not altered, she lost one of my dresses.  I will never use this business again, she's nice but highly unorganized and unprofessional.  I'm super annoyed because I was planning to wear a few of the altered pieces on my trip, but now I don't have time to find another tailor or purchase new items.  This was a huge inconvenience!! read more

The owner is so friendly. I've gotten my formal dresses, jeans, and business pants altered here. She always does a great job!

The woman running the show at Royal Alteration is friendly and lively, which inspired confidence on my first visit, but declined after she called me the day before my items were to be ready to say she'd have to push back the pick-up date by a week. She told me later that she had to postpone because her alterations assistant was sick and for the (legitimate) ice storm that came through the city and shut everything down. Like I said, though, she hadn't give me the reason at the time of the call. However, it wasn't too big of a deal, things happen. When I came back two weeks after dropping my items off, my items still were not ready! They had been forgotten! The lady promised that they would be ready the next day, but you know how annoying it can be to drive through town to redo errands. When I finally had time to stop by and pick up the items, they were altered as requested, and I was given a $5 off discount from the quoted price. The quality of the skirt I had taken in was just fine. The t-shirt I had taken in, though, was definitely now that I expected. Like with other shirts I've had taken in, I though that I'd just get a smaller shirt when I returned, but actually the shirt hadn't been cut at all, it just had new seams sewn in, in addition to the original seams. Basically, now there's a wide section of fabric on the inside of my shirt along all the seams she altered. Maybe the shop has a specialty? Perhaps they do best with skirts or something else? Sure, freak ice storms make businesses have to adjust, but I thought it unprofessional that I wasn't given much of a reason for having to postpone my order besides "I can't stay late today," that my items were then forgotten, and then the way my shirt was sewn was not my cup of tea. I hate giving poor reviews for friendly people, but I would not recommend Royal Alteration to any friend of mine. =/ I wish I didn't have such a poor first experience, because I will not be returning to give them a second chance. read more

Work product is impeccable! She makes miracles happen. Reasonably priced and so professional. Whether you need it done quickly or you have time, Mrs Laura is the BEST!!!! read more

Wonderful! I was in a bit of a rush to drop off my item and attended to me right away when I walked in the door, immediately had my coat on and was pinning the sleeves. I figured altering coat sleeves might be more challenging or time-consuming, but not for this place. Not only was the price more than reasonable for a winter coat, but the turnaround time was better than other places I've been to. I picked it up today and she had it ready and waiting and it was altered exactly how I wanted it. It fits perfectly and I'm very happy with it. I'll definitely be back with more. read more

I was in need of last minute alterations for a suit to wear to a wedding and also took an extra back up suit in case the alterations on one weren't to my standards. The service I received was extremely satisfactory, this has definitely become my permanent alterations provider! read more

I informed the tailor that I had a wedding out of town, and she assured me she could have the outfit ready. I also expressed the time constraints I had and she said she'd still have the outfit ready. Upon arriving to pick up my outfit and after trying it on, it was almost exactly as I had left it. What I needed to be fixed was not fixed at all. She said she could fix it, however she took the measurements before and somehow failed to do it correctly. And with the time constraints I expressed initially, I didn't have time to wait for her to do it right this time. I now have to attend a wedding in an outfit that looks completely untailored. She was rude, raised her voice and refused to give me my money back, despite not doing what she was paid to do. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Awful customer service and an even worse job at tailoring my outfit. read more

I just went to Royal for the first time after reading some reviews somewhere and expected a pleasant experience. However, that's not what I got. When dropped off a new suit the lady was very pleasant and nice. She recommended a nearby cleaners, who was great by the way, and my expectations were met. She told me that it would be ready in 5 days. I wasn't in a rush and she was grateful for my patience. I showed up to pick it up to find her acting squirrely. I went to try it on only to find it still pinned and not touched. I kindly told her I would take it somewhere else and I was out the door never to return. read more

I have been a faithful customer of Laura and Royal Alterations for 13 years! The first project she worked on for me was curtains. She did such a good job that I started taking my clothes to her. She is the sweetest person on the planet. A hard worker and very humble. Her workload has increased but she is my favorite. I have literally watcher her daughter grow up and I love that I am supporting a family owned and run business. I have since moved outside the city but I still drive in to Midtown and take all of my items there....gowns, suits, pants, tops, garments with complex lace or fine stitching. I travel and do a lot of work where I need new clothes regularly, so I often bring in a new batch of clothes to be tailored every month. I almost never do reviews...and I'd roll my eyes at anyone who would dare say that Laura raised her voice. Not. Humanely. Possible. She may not be able to do quick turnarounds as much because she is the best in the area....but I have been a customer for over a decade. I have seen arrogant people walk in the door and all kinds of personalities. The best gift of this place is Laura...not just her talent in terms of seeing but her genuine love for people. If you go, go with a smile and you'll leave with a special experience...and a supremely tailored garment too! read more

The owner did a very messy alteration which should have been a simple zipper on the side of the a cotton dress. The zipper buckles and I no longer like wearing the dress. I also used her to hem my daughters school uniforms and take in the waist and the job mediocre and the hem didn't last a full school year before some the skirts started unraveling. read more

I took my wedding suit here a month prior to the ceremony to have the pants finished and jacket altered. Two weeks later I pick it up and the jacket is cut too small in both the arms and body. A week later when I arrive to pick up the coat, it is not ready on the day it is promised. She tells me next week. I remind her I get married the following Saturday and need it back ASAP. I come back the next day and pick it up. When I get it home, it becomes apparent that they did a quick patchwork job to arms where the sleeves are uneven and the seam is now running down the front of my sleeve. I take it in the next morning to show them the unacceptable work and receive a refund for the coat. The male owner is there by himself and I explain the situation to him. He tells me that since I took it out of the store, the work is good and no refund will be given. After further debate, he threatens to call the police if I do not leave the store. I ask him to and he does not. To avoid further headache, I leave and cut my losses. Hands down the most unprofessional, inept business I have ever encountered. Avoid at all costs. read more
