if I could leave a half a star I would. very very rude .. I called ahead of time asking if they do same day alterations after I arrived via uber she tells me she can't do it right now that the power is cut off. the garment I needed altered I can't leave & take off as I need it for post surgery and have to wear it 24 hrs a day. I am always a little reticent when I have to engage a new tailor. I have a fair amount of expensive suits that I acquired over the years and they started to need some extensive work due to losing some weight. I had been told by friends to go to Gils but I wanted to give Eva's Alterations a shot since they are right in my neighborhood. Rather than risk a suit on my first visit I elected to take a pair of jeans and a sportcoat that just needed sleeves shortened. She did a very good job with both garments and charged a reasonable price for them. Since that first visit, which is over 5 years ago, I continue to take all of my alterations here. The shop is not the most organized and it is extremely small making it tight when there are two customers present at once, but the work speaks for itself. Just recently I brought in a suit which Eva had to remove a fair amount of fabric from the legs, take in the seat and waist, shorten the rise and substantially tailor the jacket. I did not try it on in the job but I did the next day when I decided to wear it to work for the first time in five years. The suit fit perfectly! Eva really did an amazing job with this garment and has on all my other garments. Eva is a pleasant woman with a nice demeanor and a knack for tailoring. Also, her prices are very reasonable as compared with many other tailor shops in town, especially Gils. Eva has proved her consistency with me and I would not hesitate to send anyone there whether they are in a pinch or just in need to get some garments tailored with no time constraints. Eva helped my friend and I with alterations for bridesmaid dresses. She was friendly and helpful. The place itself is pretty small but there is a mirror and two dressing rooms which is all you really need for most alteration jobs. She does a quality job and is undoubtedly talented. However, I really wanted it to be more affordable. In the end I ended up paying a little more than I wanted to pay but didn't even get the entire dress altered (I only got it hemmed). You just have to love a small business owner that is devoted to her craft. I had passed by the small business off Northside Dr on many occassion, never really noticing the place. On recommendation of few friends and after looking up reviews on yelp, decided to stop in after realizing I had a few items that coould use some tending to. I had two dresses that needed taken in as well as a shirt that needed new buttons. The lady, I am assuming is Eva, was charming. Said she had been at location 15+ years. Gotta love that. read more

Please don't waste your money and clothes on this place. These people don't have any idea about altering clothes. They ruined my beautiful Dolce and Gabbana shirt that my wife got me as a present. I took a dress shirt to Eva's to have her fix one of the sleeves. When I went to pick the shirt up, I noticed that part of the sleeve was still ripped. She claimed that she had fixed the other sleeve, and that this was a new problem. I asked her if it it were possible to fix the tear, and she took out a needle and a piece of thread. After spending no more than 1 minute and doing a sloppy job, she tried to charge me an additional $2. I told her that I would not be coming back if she charged me additional money, but she didn't seem to care. I went ahead and paid the $2. Although $2 is a small price to pay, I am writing this review to warn others who may not be so fortunate. read more

My daughter got scammed big time here at this alterations place. She is a student at GT and took an outfit for shortening. The lady spent 2 minutes to mark the dress and then quoted an outrageous price for shortening. Then added another 20% to the price quoted to get the outfit done in three days time. $39 just to shorten - ridiculous! When my daughter said it was too much and she would take the dress back the lady then asked her to pay $5 for taking 2 minutes to mark the dress. Never ever heard of anyone doing that, but I think she is preying on young inexperienced students. What a totally unethical person. Please take your business elsewhere. read more

I've turned to Eva for years to make simple to complex alterations. She is always courteous and polite. If I have questions, she makes further adjustments or provides explanations. I've probably taken her 20 pieces in the past five years, and I've always been completely satisfied. The work is good, and the items have always been ready when promised.
