First time here, they were both so kind and knowledgeable! Very honest people and I am so glad I came to them. I requested 2 dresses be altered, one with a long hem and one that was too loose. After trying with high heels, they were very honest and said the dress with the long hem is the perfect length and did not need to be altered. For the other dress, she was very fast and knowledgeable about what needed to be altered. Very quick, kind service! For the adjustment to the loose dress, it was $35. Love A&J's work on fabric - but avoid bringing leather items here ‍ Brought a leather travel jacket here - not sure why they chose to pierce new holes into the leather and not simply use the existing holes created by the manufacturer for the purpose of threading buttons. Would have been happy to pay extra to have this done correctly. I did explicitly tell them, "no new piercings". This is perhaps my fault and a learning experience - materials like leather should be brought to a shop that specializes in leather. However, I would have rather them simply refuse to work on this item than create new holes in the item. I am not asking for anything - I will simply have this redone at a leather specializing shop. I brought them a pair of jeans for hemming because they were too long and when I got them back the two legs were clearly different lengths. One length was a good half inch to inch longer than the other and when I brought them back and asked them to fix the longer leg they were incredibly rude but eventually agreed to fix the leg that was too long. When I picked them up a week later, it was obvious they had not fixed the leg. In fact, they hadn't done anything to them. I had to take them to another alterations store to be fixed. Between being unable to alter a simple pair of pants and being extremely rude at being asked to just clean up the mistake, I couldn't recommend any less. read more

I needed a dress for a wedding altered and needed it within 5 days. I found A&J on Yelp with so many great reviews, so gave them a try. I walked in and was quickly greeted by a young lady sitting at the counter. She asked what I was in need of and when I explained alterations, she directed me to a changing room to put the dress on. I put it on with my shoes and came out and another woman came over and directed me to a platform to stand on. She marked where the dress needed to be hemmed and let me know I could change. Once done changing, the young lady at the desk had my paperwork ready. I filled in my name and phone number and paid and was asked when I needed it. They were able to accommodate the date I needed it and there were no extra charges for the quick turn around. (Which I was quoted at another place) my husband went in on the day I needed the dress and picked it up for me and he was made aware they steamed it for me also. Such a great touch. Do not bring expensive or special garments, like suits, gowns, or wedding dresses. Skill level is lacking and quoted a 3 month wait. I called in advance to confirm they were accepting appointments for alterations. Once I arrived the sewer said they can only do basic alterations like simple pant hems and there was a 3 month wait. Some garments that I brought required low to moderate alterations; taking up sleeves, letting out seam, taking in seam. I called back afterwards, since I wanted to give them a 2nd chance and see if there was another sewer who could do these types of alterations. The young woman who answered the phone was mean and basically said they did not want to serve me. Fine with me, but they should be more upfront with their lacking skill and time limitations before I wasted my time going there. Worst part, I paid a driver to take me there, so it ended up costing me both time and money. I suppose this was fortunate, since it seems they would have likely destroyed my garments. I am happy I found this place. Maybe it's just me but there is a severe lack of embroidery places in Atlanta. It took a couple of Google searches to narrow down my list. After reaching out to a couple of businesses, one responded but they were super booked and their reservation process was strange through email only, the other I never got a response and the third was shut down even though their online profile had a phone number and business still said in service. Easy to find location with available parking in their shared lot. I wanted a blanket embroidered for a family friend's newborn daughter. There was a mixup where they originally put the letter c and it should have been e. The job took longer than expected due to the correction that needed to occur but I was kept informed and offered a discount for their mistake and also for delay in receiving my item which I appreciated. The owner, I presume, was very gracious and not only acknowledged the mistake but he apologized multiple times which was also appreciated and made me feel like a valued customer. read more

I am extremely impressed with this alteration business. I had dropped off a suit that I needed altered for a wedding. I dropped it off on Saturday, and told them I needed it by next Sunday (they are closed on Sundays, so I was gonna pick up on Saturday). However, I came to pick it up on Saturday, (it happened to be labor day weekend) and the business was closed with a sign that read "closed for labor day weekend." My stomach dropped and I was very stressed. I needed the suit for the wedding the next day, and I had no time to get a new one. I called the after hours/emergency line and was greeted by Trevor. I told him my situation and he told me he was very sorry about that, and that he would come and meet me to unlock the door and give me my suit. He told me he was coming from Cumming, so he said it would be no more than an hour and a half. He got there around 12pm, when I called him around 10:45am. So he was honestly pretty quick. He mentioned that they had forgot to put the sign up saying they were closed for the holiday weekend. But the fact that he still drove from Cumming to meet me when they were closed says a lot about him and his business. I will definitely be coming back in the future if I need any more alterations. 10/10 experience, unlike anywhere else!!! read more

this had to been the worst experience ever. Yesterday I went in there was only 1 person granted she had a lot that needed to be worked on. Jess asked me to wait, i waited over an hour. Still didn't have an issues with that.she finally ask me to try on the faja and I showed her what needed to be done, she asked me to retry it on to make sure she got everything right. I wanted one more adjustment, at this time 3 minutes after she asked me to try it on, other customers came in. I handed her my faja and said smaller she gave me a look as if she did not have time for this. she then asked me to come back later i looked around in disbelief because there are needles in my faja along with her drawings on it. i simply leave and called to speak to her manage. I spoke to a guy that was so kind and apologetic, he asked me to come back, I said because they are busy today I will come back the next day, I walk in no one is there, i ask to speak to him and he was just ask shocked that in this moment this lady looked at me and said she still can not service me. I am a young black women, a white women walked in she was so kind as walked her to the dressing room asked her to try her clothes on. I looked in disbelief. Although they were pricey (I needed 3 zippers repaired on casual dresses and it was $90), Trevor was amazing and went above and beyond. I asked him if they could do anything for a jacket of mine that had a lot of sentimental value but got burnt by a lightbulb. While the zipper couldn't be repaired without deconstructing the whole thing which would cost more than the jacket, he told me if I find a patch I like and bring it in her would do this for me to make my jacket wearable again. His caring response to my problem and his solution are the reason I would use them again and would recommend the company. read more

Wife's Wedding Dress Alteration: Jessica performed beyond all expectations. Husband here: My wife needed her wedding dress altered three weeks prior to our wedding and because she is pregnant, the wedding dress she purchased was larger than her original size. Understand that this is a four-layer dress that was multiple sizes larger than necessary. I rarely ever need alterations. Decided to take a huge leap of faith on a few shirts I had. (These shirts are shirts I've received from races I've completed - made of nicer material than a typical cotton shirt.) Parking - Kinda small. May want to come at an off time. They definitely have spots, but I'm sure A&J gets lots of business, so you might have a small tough time finding spot during busy times. The door is under a staircase I think. It's near the back of the parking lot. One of my favorite shirts' sleeve was coming undone. I wasn't ready to let it go, so figured I should get it fixed. Due to this, I went into my closet and dug through all my long sleeve shirts I never wear (I hate long sleeves). I thought: Well, if I'm getting 1 shirt altered..... why not the others? I had like 5 or 6 shirts total. Upon arrival, a very nice lady greeted me & then asked me which area to cut the sleeve. I wore one of the shirts and she marked the area with a white chalk and pinned it. She apparently only needed 1 sleeve, lol. I was sorta worried, but I trusted her due the awesome reviews on here. They were understaffed I believe, so it took like... 2-3 weeks? I wasn't in a hurry at all, so that was ok. The result: SOOO happy I chose A&J for my shirt alterations. They came out great! I would highly recommend them. I checked their work and it is very detailed and beautiful. It looked like it was custom made instead of only taken in at the waist and hemmed. The gown also has a long train in the back and they did very detailed work to keep the shape and integrity of the train but was able to shorten it to fit my height (or lack thereof ). I brought my wedding gown here to be altered. My concerns were heard and while they did what I asked, it wasn't how I wanted it. They put thick cups in my dress making my chest plunge and it's not me at all, I was very uncomfortable with it and asked if it could be changed, she said no. I asked if they could take a layer out since it was so heavy and she said no. I had paid a lot for their services call it a loss but unfortunately had to take my dress to another alteration shop that switched out the cups and remove a layer with no issue. read more

I'm sure you'll make an excuse as to why my dress was altered the way it was, but I am just leaving an honest review. Here are the before and after pictures of my dress. Notice the neckline before and after my alteration, it was basically brought up all the way to where you can't even see my collar bone and the cap lace sleeves no longer start at a vertical angle but slanted and started diagonally and my dress was so tight I looked flat chested because I couldn't wear cups with it after so much of it was taken in. read more
